That's actually a really solid list, played most of those and would like to play the Nintendo ones, BG3 should take the crown though.

Sad about not finding Armored core 6 anywhere. As for Starfield, I have yet to play it but the reception is a lot weaker than all of the others games so I am not too surprised. With all of their games in the pipeline it will probably be the last year that Xbox has without a nomination. Unless they got more Redfall failures waiting to happen, but I can't see Xbox letting that happen ever again.
Based on nothing but hopes and dreams, Xbox will never let that happen again.

I wouldn’t mind any of those games winning GOTY tbh. The only one I don’t yet own is SMB: Wonder, but it will be mine soon. I do have a few issues with AW 2, but it’s still a well crafted, compelling game. SM 2 is just pure fun, and it’s the only game this year that I have smashed through (actually, I did smash through Red Matter 2 as well). I’ve still yet to finish TOTK, RE4 R or BG3, but I’ll get around to completing them at some point.

It’s been an incredible year overall, and I’ve probably got enough awesome games in my library to last me 6 months. I really need to stop buying games 😂

Is anyone else bothered by a lack of Immortals of Aveum or Forspoken?

rofif rofif , comment?
I've not played it yet. Only the prologue and it seemed good. I was waiting for more patches. I need to start it soon.
The list is terrible. Real good games got robbed.

I would personally put FF16, Hogwarts and Forspoken all above AW2. AW2 doesn't deserve it. There is almost no game there and it's just badly written adventure game with no adventure.... no matter. Barely any combat, barely any survival, barely any horror.
My personal goty would be Hogwarts Legacy or AC6.... ff16, re4 and forspoken close 2nd.

From their list, RE4 remake easily.

Voted Baldur’s Gate 3 for pretty much every category it was available for.

Also, I shit on FF XVI a lot, but aside from music (though not best of year, BG 3 and Alan Wake 2 both beat it, probably a few others too), the other category I think it deserved a nomination for would be voice acting…..if it was Cid’s voice actor. Like, Clive’s is good, but not one of the best of the year to me.

Ummmm......maybe I'm missing your point? " One of the most important RPG's ever made." "Spencer wants Starfield to be bigger than Skyrim" "Microsoft bought Bethesda to stop Starfield from becoming a Playstation exclusive" etc.... I dont get where he's saying its supposed to save Xbox here, broski...

Again, Starfield is a HUGE success. Its like a lot of you kats live in some alternate reality, and because you FEEL LIKE Starfield was a failure, it is. Bizarre behavior.......Hate to break it to you my dude, but F your feelings (no offense). its still selling and still being talked about MONTHS after its initial release. Thats pretty unprecedented when most games are only talked about for a week. The numbers dont lie. And frankly, for it to be a brand new IP, no attached lore or community, and to see the numbers and success its had all ready is a pretty clear message.

I promise you that I will laugh with you when/if that happen. But honestly I think that Xbox is good at not doing the same mistake twice, but to find another way to fail, if you see what I mean by that. They were too controlling with their studios? Full freedom now. Rrod of death? All consoles after that got a lot of headroom. Being with a overpriced console that have worse performance than the PS4? 2 consoles now. Don't get me wrong, all of those decisions do have problems of their own. But I think that a game like Redfall should not happen again. If/ when another of their games fail, it will be for another reason, like Crackdown 3 got a dispute about a core tech and got fucked as a result. At least I hope so. If Gamepass continue to force them to release games that are not ready then I can't see Gamepass soar to the 100 millions subscribers that Microsoft want to have.

Its western centric award show, Japanese Mecha game never had a chance.
Armored Core 6 got robbed, and I will never forgive the Dorito pope!

Yeah, they hate Armored Core 6, giving it the final big trailer treatment last year, what a bunch of mecha-hating assholes Geoff and his team are.

It‘s not like 2023 was stacked or anything, and maybe some people just don’t think the game was on par with some others this year…..

In that case, FF XVI should be disqualified since there was barely any meaningful RPG in a game in a RPG series. :messenger_winking:

There was barely any rpg but I dno't give a shit how rpg it is.
It was excellent action and had ton of good gameplay and story

But for Alan Wake 2, you specifically bemoaned the lack of survival and the lack of horror (as it is a survival horror game), so by that argument, FF XVI failed for not living up to its genre either. Got to play by your own rules now.

"Starfield is the most important RPG ever."
"Xbox bought Bethesda for $7.5 billion for Starfield"

But, yeah, Microsoft didn't hype Starfield 🤣

Oh, my bad. I must have missed the news about it being a huge success.

I'm happy to correct myself. Can you share how many copies the game has sold yet?

i didn't really play it. just because it sold well doesn't mean that it's super relevant. Didn't get a fraction of the attention and love AW2 or BG3 had

Bro the game is praised by everybody i know, even girls that never play games. I played it myself and its the best open world game out there this year. Should they win game of the year, no bg3 does. But not having any nomination in any category or even a mention of it is just laughable.

Well I don't agree. FF16 didn't had to be an rpg. It's about as linear as ff7 remake. FF is immune forthir critique because each game is unique.
But what was there was mostly excellent.

Now, AW2 is survival horror and while I liked parts of the story and atmosphere, there was almost no shooting, your ammo was abundant, pacing was bad, saga was bad and you are pretending to be a detective in mind place whule listening to tons of monologues.
That game didn't do a single thing as well as FF16 did story and combat... even if RPG was only for show in ff16

Each game prior in the franchise is a unique RPG. It’s the genre of the series. So failing to make anything RPG there matter in an installment is a fail.

Otherwise, the next FF game could be a basketball game by your argument.

FF VII Remake actually had leveling, weapons, customization, etc. matter, so it works as a RPG.

incredible how these shills here think everyone else as dumb as they are,
they themselves turned the front page of the forum to a hypeboard leading to release
now allergic to any starfart talk all of a sudden lol.
Exactly. My boy gaslighting others into believing nobody hyped Starfield, while he forgets he was posting this a few months before Starfield's release:

Not sure anyone's noticed lately but, Xbox has been releasing games that are very polished these days. I'm speaking on performance and visuals, not on opinions of the games are good games or not. That's subjective.

But the games that have come out lately have been very polished. No way Xbox release Both Redfall and Starfield in a bad way. I'm thinking this rumor is straight bullocks!
Redfall will be ready to go. No way Phil allows Starfield to releases unpolished. The game has the potential to be a massive new IP for Xbox and almost certainly will be a system seller and increase Gamepass numbers substantially. It'll be surprisingly well polished up on release. I wouldn't doubt if Bethesda had help from other studios like TC.

But I'm betting Starfield will be high calibur. Moreso than any Bethesda game has ever been. It has to be. Expectations are really high on this one.

Like, can you imagine if Bethesda's new IP (25 years in the making, mind you) comes out like every other Bethesda game? I can hear the fanboys all ready.

"25 years in the making and it still has bugs!'

"Bugthesda Eternal!'

"Even with Microsoft money, bugs still plague Bethesda games!"

It'll be endless and annoying AF! They'll tighten up or reep the whirlwind. Phil ain't havin' it. I'm telling you...
Yeah. I'm betting Spiderman 2 will take a hit if it's too close to Starfield. Just a huge, huge game incoming. Hype will be massive the week of release.
