When Xbox took on PlayStation and won
Peter Moore recalls the launch of Xbox 360 ahead of its 20th anniversary

Exactly what I was wondering, Microsoft and it's bullshit. When did they win? Because PS2 was still handling business the 1st few years of Xbox 360's life & PS3 was released a year after 360 but ended up ahead.
If you are purely looking at sales figures they didn't win, but there's no question that Microsoft had way more wins with the 360 in terms of software than Sony did with the PS3.Do they really think they won that generation?
They didn't win, but alright
One billion dollars spent fixing the RROD issues that generation because they put design aesthetics ahead of actual engineering.
So much winning!

This was a monumental moment back in the day.

Pretty much every 3rd party game ran better, they nabbed a bunch of time exclusives, and the online service was light years ahead of PSN.
Well, they won that first year for sure. PS3 didn't even manage to sell a single unit that year. They didn't win, but alright
What? No, it was because bumpgate, not because their design was "faulty". Laptops and GPus from that era have the same issue, so did the PS3 fat.One billion dollars spent fixing the RROD issues that generation because they put design aesthetics ahead of actual engineering.

The design was awful. There's enough information about what went wrong and a lot of it was due to them trying to save a nickel. The RROD issue is the only time I've personally seen hardware fail consistently. I've said this before but in a year I had over 3 Xbox 360s from the RROD, and I was primarily only using it for a couple of games. What? They won North America with the 360, and they acted like they won the whole thing. Then we got the Xbox One.
360 absolutely capitalized on the early launch of the PS3 stumble. It took a while for PS3 to catch up and pass the 360 both in terms of sales and quality of 3rd party games. When did they win? It was also far ahead when it came to online play.
PS3 obviously won when it was all said and done, but let's not pretend the 360 wasn't kicking its ass for a while.

took about 50% market share from sony, i call that a win. They didn't win, but alright
I would consider it a win when you are an outsider and manage on your second console to steal half of the market share of the main competitor. They didn't win, but alright
They didn't win but they definitely were beating PlayStation for the first 5-6 years of the generation. Something that was unthinkable in the PS2/Xbox/Gamecube days.
Sad that they bet the future on Kinect/Xbox One instead of continuing their insane momentum from the early 360 days.
