Missed this thread. I've read the early Goon comics and I really like them. Big props for doing a DethKlok tie-in as well. This looks pretty good and I can't imagine I'll skip it.
 
I'm sure they're just trying to be as true to the graphic novels as they can but the pupil-less eyes of the main character are ridiculously distracting and unsettling.

I think so yes. It's not the story I was expecting to read when I read the blurb about the series. IT's got violence and some decent comedy mixed in so at least check out the first few issues.
 
Whoa, had no idea this was even in the works. Great comic, and this looks pretty faithful to the look, at least.
 
Bah, i thought this was going to be a popeye spin off.

From knowing nothing about this, the character design looks dumb. Big boring muscular guy, guy with white eyes, normal looking woman.

Hell yes. The stories are equal parts Hellboy, The Spirit, Mad and Milk & Cheese and the art is like a beautiful cross between Harvey Kurtzman and Jack Kirby. The book is currently up to #33 and all of the issues up to #31 have been collected in trade paperbacks. Right now the monthly comic is on hiatus while the creator works on a spinoff mini-series starring one of the secondary character, Buzzard.
 
the great BLUR studios is doing all the 3D animation on this. I really hope they pick up steam on this and get an actual movie out. I'd love to see them be able to start doing more feature film type animations.
 
This came out of nowhere and left me pleasantly surprised and happy with the work. Maybe Image can follow suit and give me a Chew.movie :D

Did you just skip the article went straight for the video? This is going to be a full movie, and they're planning a theatrical release.

no, this is intended as a full movie -- if they've actually secured the money to make it, they have yet to announce it
