The graphics in this game are amazing. Can someone explain to me why gran tourismo 4 graphics make every other game look like crap? Is it just good coding? A special kind of graphics tool?

I think the people at Polyphony Digital are gaming gods!
It looks so good!

I gotta get myself a USB drive...haven't bothered with the photo mode at all since I have nothing to transfer it to

Well, it's just like Mortal Kombat...the textures are photos. Whereas in MK the sprites were basically digitized photos.

Whereas many racers do this, it's done with a really simple lighting model, so that the colors don't get fudged up. And it's tweaked to look like the original photographs of the tracks.

beware dude, it's addictive!! I never thought i'd like that seriously.

Wow, I'm going to rent this just to check out this mode. So how does the game do it? Does it take a regular screenshot and then apply some kind of super FSAA?

Dammti I need to find a cheap USB drive! I tried to see if a MP3 flash player or ipod would work, but it won't connect. Dammit

For under $30 now, I paid almost $60 2 years ago. Sandisk now makes 1-2GB flashdrives now...

Hey Lonestar, you're retouching the pics aren't you? You got some filters here that aren't in the game as far as i'm concerned.
(not that it's forbidden to retouch the pics, it's actually cool. But just in case there's effect i didn't know about)

Defensor i'm in love with your avatar

"please, can we have atleast one IN GAMEPLAY picture.then i will see how good it look?"

Here 'ya go. From the nose cam of a Nismo 400R, R426, Japan Championship, Turn one.

My blue Mazda 6 concept is in-game graphics.
But when you look at photos from replays your have to take into accound that it still is softened in the photo. It's a little more jagged in game and there's no blur effect either of course.

Hmm, has anyone tried saving images to an ipod? I tried it earlier and it didn't work, but apparantly you have to enable 'disk enable' to make it work. I guess I'll try it later

And being the cheapass I am, the Imation Swivel 32mb USB flash is only $9 at Target

"not from replay mode, i want in game play. take one when you are actually playing it"

UNDERSTAND THE FOLLOWING: You can't just dump a screenshot to the USB in the middle of nowhere. You get these screens on USB through photo mode, and no matter how I tried to get a photo out with the HUD, the game doesn't want to do that.

Ingame it's gonna look roughly like this

sans the motion blur, and with the HUD. I took that picture from an ingame camera afterall, so that mmuch wont change

If you have a Dazzle USB MMC Reader, it also works.

Here is a pic of my first car I purchased. I'm not to far into the game.

Under options for photo lab, you have to set both Memory Card image quality & USB memory stick image quality to 'super fine'. Basically before I thought I set it to 'super fine' already, but it turned out that I had only set the USB image quality to 'super fine'. The default for both is 'standard'.
Thanks. :)

I know they had some serious quality issues, and they'll forever be thought of as the car from BTTF, but I just love those! Ever see one in real life? They're quite striking and still manage to look retro and furturistic at the same time..

haha, yeah, drifting in GT4 is so much harder than in past GTs its ridiculous. You can still get a small slip angle going fairly easy, but to actually pull off big drifts, you've got to know what you're doing, wich is like a first ever for Gran Turismo

I hate this mode...

I have like zero interest in the actual racing game (loved GT1 but lostinterest in racing games, and got bored quickly with GT3), but this photo mode is so cool, I'd almost consider picking the game up.... damn Polyphony :)
