The Halo Bulletin: 8.8.12. UNSC Weaponry Showcase

So the people that have been keeping up with halo 4.. Does it look better than Reach? About the same?

If it would help I'm a big Halo 2-3 fan. Does it seem like it would be more difficult for Halo 3 players to come in considering some these vids look like their going more towards Reach gameplay?

To me it looks much better. I played a lot of Halo2, 3 and less of Reach even though i thought that technically, Reachs gameplay was the most balanced of them all. The thing that hurt Reach to me is the maps. A lot of them are just bad and the ones that aren't as bad youll quickly get fed up of playing on them (like Hemorrhage) cause theyre being selected all the fucking time one game after the next. I stopped playing because of that.

I stopped playing for 3 main reasons: Hemorrhage, quitters and that stupid ass WarthogRace game-type. Fucking Awful.

From what I played if you like Halo 2/3 you will be right at home gameplay wise, all the AA's that I got to mess with were extremely passive.

Oh also no more stupid ammounts of aim acceleration!

Thanks for input guys. Others GAFers feel free to give an opinion as well :)

I just hope the maps are nicer than Reach. And for the AA, let's just say I wasn't a big fan of them in Reach. I'm hoping they are passive like you say. I really really want to get back into Halo again. I'm thinking this might be the one.

And I also stopped playing Reach not only cause the AA, but the bloom on guns as well. Now I'm no MLG player and I'm not sure if all the pros prefer to have that mess with your aim, but man that was just a turn off. I miss my normal aiming with the BR.

The ones shown since E3 are looking amazing so i think that so far, things are looking up in that aspect.

Awesome. I may be the only one, but who else prefers Halo 3's graphics to Reach? I know some people think that 3's graphics looked all glossy and "plastic" like but I felt it was a lot easier on the eyes compared to the "gritty" look for Reach. Like I'll still go back and play Guardian on Halo 3 just cause I love how everything looked. I'm hoping the art style (for lack of better words) would be more towards Halo 3.

I prefer Reach's to Halo3 personally. In fact me and my friends tried going back to it for old time sakes and i just had a lot of trouble getting back into H3s gameplay. I though it was too slow now. That sprint really changes things.

Map wise all 3 maps I played were better than anything on Reach, 343 seems to understand map flow perfectly and Haven will probably become a classic.

Also the AAs really are super passive, went 28/3 without having to use an AA once and it felt AMAZING!

But thats not counting the ones they haven't shown yet. There has to be more than that.

Don't get me hyped guys. Don't. Don't. Don't. Lol.

Shit. I'm getting hyped.

You guys are saying its better than Reach. The maps are better than Reach maps. And gameplay wise Halo2/3 players would be at home. And to shit on Reach some more, the AA in 4 are very passive.

It honestly sounds too good to be true GAF. Lol.

Well we still don't know about how camo and jet pack will work but if it's based on the same philosophy as the other AAs I think we are good.

Ah I knew I spoke too soon.. And there is no bloom on weapons correct? Or did they keep that from Reach?

well the DMR shows bloom BUT it resets instantly before each shot so it's not really there. The BR is 100% no bloom and hit scan just like the Halo 2 days. Picking up an overkill with the Halo 4 BR felt so fucking good lol

Screw it. I'm fuuuucking hyped. Also, I looked up a YouTube vid of Halo 4 impressions and people were saying the Thruster Pack is pretty much evade from Reach. Only the hitbox is a lot bigger compared to a small guy rolling around on Reach. I don't mind it compared to a Jet Pack tbh.

This is the video that gets me the most excited. I love that battle at the end. Awesome. If this doesnt hype you, something is wrong with you. ;)

Visually this game seems to be a huge leap ahead of any past Halo games, retaining the detail from Reach and then some, but with the colors and sharpness of Halo 3, plus an amazing lighting system. In other words, it looks goooood.

Yup, game seems to have Halo 3 speed and jump (only slightly less floaty) + sprint and AAs that so far feel lees interpretive and fir better within the snadbox. No bloom is really going to make a big difference as well, that IMO was one of the biggest issues in Reach.. Well Armor Lock and the MP maps were pretty bad also.

Well that is definitely reassuring. Quite a few of you posters have hyped me up. You know who you are. Lol.

I like the general look of the game as it's very clean and colourful, in a weird way the visuals remind me of a better looking Perfect Dark Zero. I'm still not a fan of the armour designs but that's a minor gripe as they at least stand out from the environments and are very easy to identify.

The BR sounds a lot better than it did in previous footage, but the pistol sounds as castrated as it has been in functionality over time in the games. Though I doubt I'll use it much since after CE the pistol seems to be cemented in being the lame precision weapon so I don't really care.
