The hell is up with Winamp?

I've been keeping Winamp ver. 291 for a while because the later versions of Winamp kept crashing on me everytime I played an mp3.

Yesterday, a message pops up warning me about some critical security flaw within Winamp and I download the latest version of Winamp to see what's up... Same problem, crashes on me a good 2 or 3 seconds after the mp3 starts playing... Now, you're probably thinking "Go back to ver. 291 if it was working out for you so well"... Well since downloading the newest version, it does the exact same thing with 291 as well. :(

What's the problem? Is it a bug? Some kind of problem with spyware or somethin'? Anybody else having problems with this?

I had a problem like this with Winamp 5 after I installed Windows SP2, but after I uninstalled and then reinstalled the program the problem went away.

Finally bought a new PSP, but then pushed the demon onto someone else. Jesus.
Get to know iTunes. I used to love Winamp but haven't been back since trying out iTunes.

Try changing your audio codec/drivers in winamp options.. i installed winamp and it kept crashing on me constantly, I looked at what sound drivers wimamp was using and some Microsoft driver was being used instead of the Creative labs or whatever sound card i have. it worked pefectly after i changed it, although i dont use winamp now. :D

I dropped my sister's toothbrush in the toilet once and I didn't tell her.

AND I wiped a kid's toothbrush on my asshole at summer camp once, and I didn't tell him.

I'm a sick sonofabitch.

I never heard of Foobar before. I just clicked the link, but before I decide to install - is it really much better than Winamp? I mean, I haven't found anything to be seriously wrong with Winamp (I've tried a few other players before that really sucked).

I just downloaded Foobar. I haven't used it much yet (obviously), but the first thing that annoys me is that you need to CTRL+F to locate a song, where you can just "jump" to a track by pressing the "J" button in Winamp. I'll use it for awhile though...it's pretty simple and basic, which is definitely nice.

Foobar is really light! Its like its written for windows 3.1!

Winamp, after a clean install of windows, is still pretty heavy... even thought version 5 is supposed to be as light at 2x.

Still, Winamp's media libary and my familiarity with the program keeps me using it.

What's Justin Frankel up to.....time to read his blog....
