WWE is basically fucked until that mad old fool retires or dies. Effective booking is a young man's game, and he's been going downhill as a creative force for well over a decade now. The sad thing is everyone knows it, but he's too egotistical to relinquish the power, and that'll probably do a lot more damage.
WWE story/kayfave building back in the day was ELITE because they had one guy who would write it all out AND literally story board it out as to where it was going and whose going to face who next but give validation for said reasoning. This is why punk always stated and hated he was fed to part timers and when he asked what was next everyone shrugged and had no idea. Woth the story telling today they have like 10 different writers and you work with a different one every week apparently so theres no consistency even.
With AEW apart from the writers it feels and seems that most wrestlers are in charge of their own creative, does it still have to get approved? Obviously, but having a wrestler having a character and persona dictate what they would say and or even do is huge for growth but also consistency.
look at Moxley/dean ambrose in wwe where he wore a gas mask and told the crowd the reason why was because they smelt. Compared that to a jon moxley who is more unhinged, flipping wrestlers off, thinking he is the biggest badass to ONLY go "fuck no" during an All Out ppv because god damn Minoru Suzuki showed up.
can it for hard to some wrestlers to create their own dialogue and stories? Absolutely but the talent they have brought in such as: Sting, Christian, CM punk, Taz etc can help with those building blocks. Talent flows down not up, and its the older guys who will help the young guys where you can create and not stifle new talent.
this is what is exciting about AEW right now
