Forever Platinum
If anyone wants to make a better thread picture, feel free, I'm no good at this stuff. If anyone wants to make a nice set of header images for the different sections, it would also be pretty nice. This is going to be rather sparse :X
Hi everybody, throwcarbine here to cordially invite all NeoGAF HoN players to take part in our very own NEOGAF IN-HOUSE LEAGUE hosted by yours truly. This is a chance to get away from all the stress of matchmaking and all the mads and bads in publics, compete for points, earn impressive awards, and by the end hopefully some goodies.
THE DEAL
1. Sign-Ups
Players can sign up in this thread: in sign up posts please include the HoN account you wish to play on. All players who expressed interested in the main HoN thread will be signed up automatically. Sign-ups will close Friday, July 1, at 5 pm EST.
2. League Structure
Instead of my initial idea regarding individual stats, I have decided after reading input from everybody in the HoN thread to make this a team based event.
All players will be divided into 7-8 man teams (yes, I realize this may limit us to 2 teams, but it will be worth it) each headed by a captain. Team-captains will be responsible for the ONE-TIME draft of the teams for the entire event, barring circumstances where this needs to be changed.
Each player will vote by sending procarbine a private message with their choice for captains. The number of captains will be determined when the total amount of players is known, and each player may cast one vote for each slot, not voting for the same captain twice, and all in one message please. Captains will be selected over the weekend of July 1 - July 3, ending at 12 am EST July 4.
**32 players have registered, there will be four teams of 8. Please send me your votes (4) for captain.**
As soon as I have the votes drafting will begin, so the sooner you vote, the sooner we play.
Additional notes: I'm making myself ineligible for captain. Also, if you guys want you can hold off your votes until we know our totals so you know how many people to vote for, this will be way easier for me if more people register and we have enough for a third team. You can't vote if you're not a registered player.
The votes are in and the captains are:
Meeru
Oceanic`815
Kagete
Delirium6
After captain selection is completed, the captains will draft the teams in the not-GAF mumble server at a time convenient for all parties. Players will be selected in an S format. Meaning:
Teams: A B C D
Picks: 1 2 3 4
Only myself and the captains will be present in the channel during the time of the drafting, and captains are asked NOT to share the order in which players were drafted. Teams are then free to create their own names, banners, and whatever else they feel the need to.
The drafting order has been randomly determined to be Oceanic, Delirium, Kagete, Meeru

Team and player points will be tracked independently, in order to see which players have participated/contributed the most.
Teams will be awarded 5 points for a win, and one point for a loss. Consecutive wins against the same team will have diminishing returns: 5 points for the first, 4 for the second, 3 for the third, and 2 for additional wins.
Win streaks will carry a bounty for the team that breaks them. 1 point will be given for breaking a 3 game streak, and an additional point given for every win past 3. So 2 points for 4, 3 points for 5, etc.
Players will be awarded 3 points for a win, and 1 point for a loss. Player K/D/A and total games played will also be tracked for awards purposes. That's right, man up.
When playing on another team and winning, details below, players will receive a turncoat point.

4. Match Details
Matches will be played from July 4 onwards whenever there are sufficient players for a game. Times may be organized by players ahead of time for convenience, but they will not be restricted in any way, games will be played whenever possible and players are willing. Join the "Clan NeoGAF" channel to find the other gaffers!
All official IHL games will be 5v5 and played in normal mode. Tournment mode (no mods) is NOT required. Gametype for each match will be determined by player agreement proceeding the match. Any gametype may be selected (AP, BP, BD, SD, RD, AR). If players can not agree on a gametype, use /roll to determine the type played.
Ringers may be brought in with the consent of an opposing team, with no more than 3 games played per ringer in a week. Only 1 ringer may participate per team per match. Let's try to keep this in-house as much as we can. There is no limit on plays/week if that ringer is a gaffer AND that player doesn't just play on one team. If noticeably uneven play occurs limits will be set.
In the event that there are insufficient players on one team and extra players from an opposing team, players may switch to the other team as needed in order to make a game possible. There is no limit set for this currently, but if it becomes a nuisance one will be.
Rules regarding pauses, remakes, disconnects, etc are TBD based on player discussion. Obvious ragequits will find no mercy, and wifequitting will be closely inspected.
Intentional throwing of a game will not be tolerated at all, one confirmed throw will result in banning from the GAF IHL.
After the match, one player from the game will post in this thread with the match ID, teams playing, and game result, spoiler-ed please. Please make the first line of these posts:
MATCH RESULT: <Match ID>
I will do my best to keep the totals up to date.

5. Map Pool
Caldavar lol.
6. End Game
There is no current end date set for the matches, I would like to see the rate at which they are played before this is set.
At the end of the playing period the team with the most points wins...something. At this point I am open to suggestions regarding the prize pool. Given a 7-8 person team it makes the situation slightly complex.
If anyone wants to donate a prize for team totals or the individual awards please send me a private message with the details. Thus far we have one private donator who wishes to remain anonymous and [S2]Nome has volunteered to work out some sort of silver coin sponsorship for the tournament. Details TBD.
Individual achievement awards will be compiled/awarded at this time. So far the awards are as follows:
From stats:
By player/spectator vote:
Whenever the stats from a match are posted and a big play/throw occurred, please make a note of that and the general time. Use this notation sparingly, only if you all think it was a big deal.
If anyone has suggestions for more, please post them!
