The House Of The Dead

I always enjoyed blasting through The House Of The Dead back in the 90s.

I heard there was a remake that came out a couple of years ago and was wondering if any Gaffers had played it and would recommend it? (I thought it might be a fun game to get with Halloween coming up...)

House of the Dead 2 Remake doesn't appeal to me.
I wish they made a remaster or let choose between new and old style.

I own HotD on Switch. It isn't bad. Definitely worth getting, probably on sale.

I played these games whenever I could. Bowling alleys, arcades, restaurants, and etc. I never owned the Dreamcast version, which I should have. I did get HotD3 and 4 on PSN back on PS3. I wonder if you can still buy them? I'd like to play more Scarlet Dawn, but you have to go to Dave & Busters to play it.

Yep the remake was good kind of easy playing with a mouse however

I should have said I'd be getting it on PS5. Looks about £20 new from Amazon, and they seem to sell for that second hand on Ebay, so could always have some fun with it over Halloween and then sell it on and get my money back.

You could get a wii for cheap and mod it. I still keep mine hooked up for HOTD 2+3 and Overkill. I'll never get tired of lightgun games.

It's definitely worth it if you have PS Move.

I loved the first game back in the but I don't think I'd enjoy these games nowadays. Though it depends on production values of course.

Pixaleted texture on thotd 2. How it's possible? I remember this glitch on Dreamcast and I was thinking that the problem was the console itself with less memory than naomi

Its only worth it if you have a lightgun.

HOTD3 and 4 sadly only worked with the Move on PS3, which was more fun than mouse or controller but worse than a lightgun. I never bought HOTD1 for PS5 because I don't want to deal with Moves again.

I played the remake... And it's fine. Doesn't have the charm like the original, or even the weight, but the guys that made tried

You can see as soon the game starts, when the original a doctor has a picture with his arm, but it happens so fast that you can't really see the picture, and only a few understood when this picture is showed by the end of the each stage when shows how many doctors you saved. In the remake, you can see your character getting the picture and really making sense why you did that. It was a nice touch

Still, the enemies look too much gelo like. Even the bosses. It's annoying

I bought the remake on Switch and didn't care for it much. I adore the originals as well as Typing of the Dead, the Overkill as well as its' Typing of the Dead spinoff.

HOTD:Overkill off a flash drive had multiple issues for me sadly, you dont have issues? I think asset loading from disk was somehow hard coded in to the game and the game breaks when stuff loads to quick. I finished it multiple times from disk, but my Wii's drive has now died sadly. Not sure if dolphin has a better time with it.

The remake wasn't great imo OP,i played it on switch and felt a bit meh,the last great house of the dead was I think 4 in the arcades.

I don't think you can replicate the feeling of the gun in your hand and standing in the arcade.thats what they have always been about.playing at home is ok but not quite the same as the thrill of the arcade.

Dark escape 4d is actually amazing,if I had 10 grand I would buy it for my house for me and family members/friends.its terrifying

I used an external hard drive and everything seemed fine. Beat the game without issues.

The remake is superb, albeit easy without the light-gun setup. But still, you'll see it on sale for around $10-$15 nowadays, so get at it when you can.

IIRC they're going to remaster the other games too, but am too lazy to google it myself.
