The Humble Monthly Bundle

Damn, five minutes into Shantae and I remember why the last couple games have been hard for me to pick up. They really genuinely don't make 2D platformers that play like this anymore, even with the indie boom, but every single female character has two cantaloupes stapled to their chest held back by cloth that shows such generous cleavage, it just pulls me out of things right away

I fucking love how these games play, but I just mash A through the cutscenes

I wish they announced all the games the day before it unlocks, or something.

Had I known Wasteland 2 was in this I would of been all over it. Instead I ended up grabbing it off a friend for $3.50. (Still a deal regardless, but there was some other stuff I'd of wanted for when I upgrade my PC - such as ARK and GRAV)

it would kind of defeat the point of the entire bundle if they announced everything beforehand, as then why not just run a normal bundle?

the point is to get people to blindly trust them and buy games they likely otherwise wouldn't while maintaining just enough quality to keep people coming back,

I have absolutely no idea what their main incentives are. There's a few other things going on, like...

1) The "Members' Discount" aspect to the Humble Store.
2) They get to negotiate a rate with the studios for a sale price on a finite # of copies, instead of unbounded. I imagine a finite ~50k or whatever can get a drastically better price than an unbounded number of copies.

I think part of it is some companies are able to do it as a get paid while promoting the game type thing. you have people talking about how they missed out on wasteland 2 and what not thus giving the game likely more publicity than if it had just been shown off with ark in the bundle.

either way the quality of subbing keeps increasing which is nice, as it was a very solid bundle this time (even if you own the games it would be really easy to sell the games you already own to get your money back) and the discount (which really isn't much it could just get people to use the store more because I know I rarely do it even though I should, just like playism I should buy from more if I want their games since they give a steam key anyways) hopefully they keep managing to get more people, keep feeding the money into better bundles, and we can all just be happy.

either way I am looking forward to playing the stick of truth tomorrow or sunday.

I just bought the Star Wars bundle. Did the $10 donation. Anyone have suggestions on which Star Wars game I should play first?

Kotor! Then Kotor II!

Also
I'm looking to grab a copy of Ark: Survival Evolved for a buddy as we want to try it out (I only got one copy of ARK with my monthly obviously). I'm hoping maybe someone who got a copy from the Humble Monthly bundle last month who doesn't want it would be willing to part with it at a fair price? Shoot me a PM

I'm really liking no this bundle now that I've started selling back games I know I'm not very interested in/already have. I got back $23.80 on my $24 I've spent the past two months, mostly from just alien isolation and ark.

Yep I just saw this bundle in my email and considering this month's and next months they seemed to have improved a lot from the start.

i think i'm getting in. 11$ (including the 10% off voucher) isn't a bad price for south park and this war of mine. surely the other games in should be okay as well.

How do you use the coupon for your next humble monthly payment? Or is it automatic? I bought the new Jumbo bundle.

Just got charged for the April bundle (my second month). I picked up the Sega bundle a few days ago and it was nice to see the 10% off coupon applied again to make it $10.80. I assumed that could only be used when you first subscribed but nice to see it can apply month to month assuming you pick up additional coupons.

Worth it for both Stick of Truth and This War of Mine and I am excited to find out next week what else comes with it.

Yeah, I keep forgetting about it and got charged today as well. Got the 10% off (so it was $10.80), but for me that was from an earlier bundle. As noted, the Sega bundle's discount is only for new subscribers. By the way, you don't have to activate the coupon, it's automatic as far as I can tell.

The funny thing is that my discount this month was my second time (I buy way too many of their bundles). Seems like they're giving out monthly bundle discounts like candy. Seriously, most of these have been in the dollar tier. Wonder how they're doing with subscriptions. Have to admit, though, it's somehow easier to swallow $10.80 than $12. Weird.

Just subbed for my first time. I assume the bit about getting charged on last friday still stands? So I dont have to worry about unsubbing soon?

Unsure if I want to stay subbed. $14 CDN is easier to justify than $16.. for some reason

I can't believe these guys have fallen so low. Feel good charity event supporting indie devs reduced to monthly grab bag sales. No transparency here either, which was what was great about the site to begin with

Fallen? They're better than ever. They still do bundles all the time, the monthly thing is just a new deal they brought out and its not transparent because it's a single price and the monthly bundles often include titles from triple A developers.

What? Last month, and this month, were really the first times I've wanted to sub to this.

One day they are going to drop a AAA new release into one of the monthly bundles and we'll all regret not subbing, then they'll go back to cheaper releases again.

I haven't got a monthly bundle before so i'll get a 10% discount, i'm assuming i can't use that with a 10% discount coupon from a bundle as well? I didn't realize the 10% for first time discount counted as a coupon but it seems like it does, i'm not sure if i'm doing something wrong.

Also, why does the sega bundle say it includes "10% off Humble Monthly for New Subscribers" if that's something all new subscribers get anyway?

the reduction in cost was added after the sega bundle launched if I recall right. thus a bit confusing but it seems like they just moved that discount out in general.

So is the 10% off for the first month actually just a coupon and i can't use that in combination with the 10% off a month coupon? If that's the case it's a little annoying as the page makes no mention of that actually being another coupon.

Humble Originals are the 1-2 extra games included with each monthly (on top of the six main titles).

So they don't count as part of the bundle as such? This bundle says there are 6 more games included, i subscribed before and assumed that just meant it was slightly larger than usual. It'll be a bit disappointing for me if that just means there's some originals included.

They're more like bonus games, but the core of the monthly (6 Steam games) hasn't changed.

March bundle:
  • Wasteland 2: Director's Cut
  • GRAV
  • Shantae and the Pirate's Curse
  • I am Bread
  • Sentinels of the Multiverse
  • ARK: Survival Evolved
Bonus:
  • (Humble Original) Battlesloths
  • Switchcars

February bundle:
  • Titan Souls
  • Broken Age
  • Volume
  • Penarium
  • Dropsy
  • Alien Isolation
Bonus:
  • (Humble Original) Elephant in the Room
  • (Sneak Peek Demo) Planetoid Pioneers

I thought i saw it say something like "get six more games" but i can't see that mentioned now. That along with them showing 2 games instead of 1 made me think they'd increased the size of the bundle.

I can back you up in that I saw the same thing when I subscribed the other night.

The six more games likely refers to getting four more Steam games (TWoM and SP: SoT are 2/6 main titles) and two bonus ones (Humble Original, sneak peek demo, etc.). It's certainly possible they've changed something, though.

That's what I'm expecting - 4 more 'real' games & the Humble Original/sneak peak stuff.

So it's April first. When do they announce the titles for these things? I messed up not getting this Feb. and March. I hope it wasn't just 2 months of great titles. Stick of Truth isn't a bad game for April anyways, so they are off to a good start.

Also so I got Stick of Truth early. Do people who are subscribed get those titles nice and early (or at all) too?

Looks like 1pm EST today, so I imagine that's what it will be most (all?) months.
