Warhammer Quest is like Hero Quest? I hope a little deeper.

WHQ reminds me of an RPG (like D&D) that mated with a board game. If you've ever played Descent, it has a slightly similar feel (but MUCH more involved).

E: The nice thing about WHQ is that the dungeon and events played themselves. Dice rolls often decided your fate, and monsters all followed a set of rules (which were slightly ambiguous at times).

The visuals remind me of Hero Quest is all.

This PC adaptation was kind of neat (but also shows how shallow the game is, when it loses the human factor).

Regarding Warhammer Quest.

To me their amazing engine backed up by a strong franchise/budget will suffice, coupled with a slighlty deeper mechanics/experience system/tons of loot (I confess I loved the simplicity of Hunters 2 tough).

Too bad it is so far away...anyone in UK willing to go

where they will show the game and report? :P

For me, the comparison to Hero Quest / old school boardgames is what nails it for me, tie that in with the amazing developer (Hunters is amazing) and I am sold.

And yes, it's a shame it's a way off, I am an hour away from Birmingham so I could go if I am free...

Now that I've finally finished Horn, which was absolutely amazing minus the bad checkpoint system, I'm fully addicted to Puzzle Craft. Loving it

Glad I'm not the only one.
I lost several times up to half an hour gameplay being stupidily killed by a boss and then realizing the last checkpoint was AGES ago, before a cutscene and several puzzles.
Other than that it's remarkable.

Yeah they really made a big mistake on that. There's one in the second world where you have to solve 3 different puzzles and fight 3 different guys and I lost to the third guy and I had to do it all over again. There's no excuse for that and I'm surprised it hasn't been addressed in reviews I've read for the game

what is hunters 2? just checked the app page and looks quite interesting.

You can find impressions some pages ago.
It's a turn based game, sci-fi setting.
A small campaign set the mood, then you have 5 daily 'contracts' (you are a team of bounty hunters) to complete (they are random based on the date).

IMHO it's an amazing game, with an amazing engine and a simple yet captivating ruleset.
Lot of positional strategy and cover too.
I played already over 50 or 60 hours and somewhat it never get old.
The first game was fine, but got my attention for 2 weeks at most.
This second chapter is on of my personal goty so far.
The fact you can complete a contract in less than half an hour is just perfect for my lifestyle (then you play 'just another contract' and hour sare lost, but that's another story).

Lost half an hour just there :)
And sometimes the game (on iPad 3) crawls and sound is not on sync anymore.
One time (beginning of second world) I rebooted to hear better the cutscene...realizing they placed the damn checkpoint waaaaaaaaaaaaaay after that.
Really stupid, even because the game is not short at all (I would preferred it shorter).

But it's really an achievement on the platform, nice weird world, some of the best cutscenes I ever saw (the painted ones)...I hope it marks the beginning of a new breed of games on iOS.

Getting close to the end of Puzzle Craft. I don't want it to end. I also have the exact amount of gold I got from a $.99 IAP when I started, plus tons of supplies, so I assume it's totally playable with zero IAP.

There's an end? What, like level 25 or something?

Thought the Castle is the last town upgrade. That'd be the end I guess, along with hiring all possible workers/buildings.

Warhammer Quest on iOS? That's really exciting. For those wondering what it is or what it will be like -- presuming it will stay true to tabletop, it's this. Don't want to get too hyped yet since it's still a ways off, but could be the start of some exciting things in terms of Games Workshop tabletops coming to mobile. In terms of lighter games along the lines of WHQ, would love to see stuff like Space Hulk and even a new version of Blood Bowl that actually makes an attempt to teach the game, unlike the Cyanide version.

It would be straight into my veins, I still think the iPad is the ideal platform for D&D to flourish as well.

How would that work? I could see myself enjoying it if there was a way to make it work.

Check out Pocket Heroes for an idea, Asynchronous MP only with persistent levelling and set campaigns, small team and very low budget however.

Take that and add in full classes, a proper engine (like the Warhammer one) and a solid dev team an you could have fried gold.

IAP campaigns, trade items with friends, in game chat...

Please stop.
Can't take any more excitement today.

That would be pretty neat. I liked Pocket Heroes, but something didn't feel right about it. But these ideas could really kick off some HUGELY excellent future games.

Gilded Skull has been working on a game at least based on tabletop for what seems like 400 years.

Questions regarding Puzzle Craft Achievements-

"Money For Nothing" Collect Your First Bonus Coin

What's this about? I've not unlocked this....

"Dust to Dirt" Collect 36 dirt tiles with your finger
"Fields of Gold" Collect 36 grain tiles with your finger

Any tricks to get these two? Seems like the opportunity would never present itself...

For the money you need to collect x gold nuggets or x diamonds (can't remember which one) to get 1 coin.
For the last two, use the items to collect the other materials, iron, steel and everything else till there is only dirt/grain

Just beat Random Heroes by WobblyWare, the developers of League of Evil. I found it to be an extremely disappointing follow-up... especially now that I realize there's a free version online that actually allows you to start with a Random Heroe (hence the name) instead of making you earn it with coins like on iOS. I know its just a dollar but this is ridiculous as they went out of their way to add iap to a game they already basically had done as a non-iap based game.

Try it Online to probably save yourself a dollar

Is the game that bad? I may try out the browser version to see if it's worth my money. It's SO hard to believe that they fucked up so bad after LoE.

E: How is the Katamari game on iOS? Worth spending money on?

The Cyanide version was just trash. I remember being super pumped for it, bought it on release day and then I played it...

I don't think I ever touched that game again. A new game for iOS would be great.

Yup, same pretty much. I'm getting ahead of myself though considering the just-announced WHQ isn't even coming out until 2013 heh.

Son of a bitch! Just got all the rubble I needed to construct the building that lets you collect rubble, and the *** damn game crashes on me! Argh!

woot beat Puzzle Craft

got all the buildings and the Castle and maxed out all the people. have around 12k cash left, maybe I'll get all those flowers and bushes if there's a max. awesome game, can't wait for an update

I have so many explosives and Idon't even know what to use them for. Does Rubble come later in the game?

Also, you can get bonus coins not only from matching x diamonds/gold (which is hard), but also by matching 8 rats/wolves, which is more reasonable.

Rubble comes from letting the gas explode.

Waitwat for real? Like, letting 8 gas things explode with the lamp? Or if you DON'T use the lamp? I always try to prevent the gas from touching because i thought it'd be bad, but you're telling me there's actually useful stuff coming out of letting it explode? Mind=blown

Yup - 3 actually. When you see them red and shaking, let them explode. You'll get some rubble out of it. You need rubble for at least one building (the one that lets you collect gas).

E: Beaten.

Is that Batman Arkham game any good? Going to the lake this weekend and want to have something fun to play.

Also what are you guys' favorite tower defense games?

Kingdom Rush for Tower Defense, Anomaly: Warzone for Tower Attack, hands down.

I heard the batman game has fun combat but gets kind of repetitive.

For tower defense, Kingdom Rush and Cursed Treasure are my favorites.

Combat is pretty terrible actually. Fun part of the game is zipping through Gothan.

It's a shoddy game, but admittedly it was a guilty pleasure to me. I would wait for the inevitable price drop.

Crossposting from the Fnal Fantasy thread in case anyone can help me. I was having so much fun with FFT as well...

So I just got to the second, infamous Weigraf fight in FFT and got my arse absolutely handed to me in short order. Those monsters and their attacks are insane, I have absolutely no defence against it, they one-hit my guys right away. Does anyone have any tips for this or do I just need to go grind for another few hours? I was totally over levelled for the fights before it too but that one is just...woah.

You guys might be talking about 2 different Batman games-there's the Arkham Lockdown one and then there's one based on the recent movie...
