The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero - Launch Trailer

A reminder that the Steam and Switch versions will include message log among other improvements by PH3 studio

How many years have I been waiting for this?

Ordered a physical copy for the Switch. I'm getting towards the end of Trails in the Sky SC, so I'll probably play through the Third game before diving into this - but the wait is gonna be tough.

Do it. Just as well - Azure's coming out early next year at best, so putting in a buffer will let you choose to play Zero and Azure back-to-back, if you so choose.

Fair warning that Sky the 3rd is very polarizing. Most people either love it or hate it. For me personally, I think it's great - Easy shoe-in for top 3 Trails games (probably #2?) and my favorite of the Sky games.

Wow, with the Trails in the Sky games I enjoyed the unfiltered textures setting and the whole retro look but this with the AI upscaled & manually edited super sharp textures and improved sprites and stuff looks pretty damn cool in its own way too... Edit: on PC I mean, what a port, by based Durante!

Although awesome I'd probably not use the dynamic shadows option, for consistency's sake (unless the non dynamic ones can be not just a blob even if directionally static).

It's set after. Not likely Xseed will port them to Switch. They are probably mad they lost the rights to the Trails Franchise.
yeah it sucks, at the same time NIS America got the license because they were willing to port the games to more platforms IIRC

I wonder if Xseed will ever lose the rights for the ones they localized which would allow them to get ported?

A damn shame we have Cold Steel 3 and 4 on Switch but not 1 and 2.

XSEED has the rights to the English versions of Trails in the sky trilogy and Coldsteel 1 and 2. They aren't going to do Falcom or NIS any favors neither.
This is why lawyers and contracts exist. XSEED should make a deal with NIS/Falcom so all parties profit....the games would definitely sell on Switch (as basic ports)

Played for about 15 minutes. Do I want to play this now and wait 6 months for the next part? Or just wait 5 months and play so I don't have to wait very long for the next one? My dilemma right now.

Is the PS4 version that bad? I'm considering it because I rarely play on switch...

Edit: Gonna get the Switch version, the ps4 version is really outdated it seems.

I'm annoyed they didn't release Zero and Ao in one set.
You really want to play these games back to back- that's my advice.

I'm thinking of getting this on the Nintendo Switch.

I have the feelings that if I sit on this it will end up like most Japanese role playing games with physical releases and end up being $200 on eBay within 6 months.

I've been wanting to play Trails from Zero and Trails of Azure for many, many years now.

Is this still dialogue heavy as the Trails of Cold Steel series or less so.

I agree that is an odd decision. They could have easily fit both games on one cartridge on the Nintendo Switch or whatever medium.

But they did this because of money and nothing more. Probably sometime in the near future there were at least both on one disc / cartridge.

There are a character calculations for dialogues in japan script, going by them it's roughly on the same level with first CS, smaller than CS3, and especially CS4, which has by far the biggest script in the series.

Oh man you are the hero we need posting that. So many of these games and the naming is odd to know what order they go in. Last one I played mostly through was the first Trails on Steam. If I jump into Zero now is there a lot I would be missing from not playing SC and the 3rd? Really wanting to pick this up on the Switch.

I would say jump into Zero. What happened in Liberl kingdom doesn't have much bearing on the crossbell city arc(Zero and Azure) or the Erobonia story arc(Trails of cold steel 1-4). The upcoming Trails into Reverie is basically an epilogue for the crossbell arc and erebonia arc.

Sounds good, thanks for the info! 👍
