Oh wow, the Haunted House!

Love the boarded-up windows, broken shutters, and all the interior details. MUST BUY!

That's a new Frankenstein's Monster... grey skin and butler outfit. Reminds me more of Herman Munster.

Mixed feelings for haunted house. Love that it's a huge set, but I feel like there's a lot of missed potential there, considering the scale.

*Edit* - The zombie graveyard set goes really well with this, too!! Just wish they would've introduced a new set of minifigs for the house, seeing as the Vampyres already have the castle. I really like the Butler and Zombie Chef, though. Really like them.

Rebrickable.com is what you want.
You enter all your sets and it can tell you what mocs (in their system) you can build.

Thanks, but just from a quick glance, I can't find a single plan that has 100%. For a 6 year old kid, only having 80% of the pieces needed would frustrate the hell out of him. I was hoping that Lego had something official with alt plans for each set like back in the day.

The more I look at the pics the more excited I get. Love the record player and the old style desk with quill pens.

What's the thing in the top pic supposed to be?

I understand you listed a particular group of themes he enjoys, but there are lots of really awesome 3-in-1 Creator sets that you might want to get him, as you can. It'll give him a larger variety of bricks, and LEGO gives three different builds for each set, so that should extend his enjoyment significantly.

yeah the haunted house is awesome!!!! only the interior design is kind of lacking
I agree, but that's where you put your polibag clock and ghost!

I don't like the monster sets though, but I was very interested in how the haunted house would turn out. Therefore I'm not too happy about the non-ghost minifigs, but I'm sure more people would complain if it consisted of ghosts only.

If I buy it the non-ghosties can rot in their box for all I care.

Just buy a few polybag ghosts and the place will be great without the other minifigs.

Thanks...I'll have to see if any of them interest him.

Monster Fighters is a great line. I have all of the releases so far and will get the house as soon as it is released.

Any word on the zombie set? This picture is not included in any of the Monster Fighter material that I own, but the set # is missing from the sequence.

9461 The Swamp Creature
9462 The Mummy
9463 The Werewolf
9464 The Vampyre Hearse
**9465 The Zombies** Missing Set
9466 The Crazy Scientist and His Monster
9467 The Ghost Train
9468 The Vampyre Castle

I also cannot help but notice that the crystals needed to power the moon device at the vampyre castle have crystals and symbols for all the monsters except zombies (which is pink with a hand rising out of the grave). Perhaps this will be a second wave set along with the Haunted House, Coffin Car, and Ghost polybag?

Anyway, great sets and mini figs for this collection. I'm very happy I grabbed them all. My kids love them and they go oddly well with the Pirates of the Caribbean ships with their zombies and monster look. Hell, put Dracula at the ship's wheel and it looks like a vampire ship!

I'm going to pretend this is the Monster Fighter.

Why do they have a framed picture of their butler on the wall? Looks like he was homeless before they took him in.

The Zombies is releasing August 1st, according to the LEGO S@H site.

The names of the Monster Fighters are kinda hilarious....Dr. Rodney Rathbone, Jack McHammer, Major Quinton Steele, Ann Lee and Frank Rock but they have their charm...

And OUCH at the price on the Haunted (Doll) House...but I'll get it anyways.

Same price and piece range as the modulars, so nothing to complain about really...

Ouch on the price, but below the $.10 brick threshold.

Granted, the outside looks better on the Haunted House but the inside play areas in the Vampyre Castle are much better IMO. Lots of nooks and crannies to explore, including a crypt in the basement, a fantastic little pipe organ, and that folding spiral staircase/door is amazing.

Hoooly shit, the Haunted House is so mine. 150 euros is way less than I imagined going from the pics. Really love what I'm seeing there.

How to correctly open a box of LEGO

Step 1:
Buy the LEGO set your heart desires.

Step 2:
Use the pre perforated holes? No! Use something sharp? No!

instead what you need is a hot iron, some baking paper and a leaver of some sorts, a knife works well.

Step 3:
Bring the iron up to heat and then start working the glued seems. and then gently leaver the flap, if it won't come off easily continue ironing till the glue has sufficiently melted.

Do the same for the top end and repeat for the other side of the box.

Step 4:
This should leave you with very clean openings. So you can flatten the box and store it at your leisure without having destroyed the box.

Was just about to order the minimodulars, since when have they been removed from the store... :'(
I had expected them to be available for a while yet...
[edit]
Hmmm my mistake, now ive found it...

How to correctly open a box of LEGO
Awesome tips. But man, I just don't have space for the boxes (that's what living in the city does to you) :P And I have no intention of selling my LEGOs EVRAR soo... :)

Also: that feel when you spend a considerable amount of time in the Walgreens looking like a pedophile in the children's isle feeling up the LEGO packets, and feeling pretty sure you've picked out a few you don't already own, only to find out... only 2 of the 7 you picked were 'new' and they weren't even the ones you wanted.

I really suck :)

Practice makes perfect?

Oh dear god, if I have any organs left to peddle on the black market after I cave in and buy fire brigade, I'll have to buy the mansion. Maybe try to MOC it into a modular bulding, then get an appropriately sized baseboard and MOC a modular graveyard to slot into the street. BUT CLEARLY a modular graveyard needs a modular church so I'd have to MOC that too.....

The moral of the story is I'm about to enter into a career of prostitution to pay for my legos.
