I have a couple of those phone printed slopes from my Lego from the 80s. In sure you could find them on brick link.

Err, I guess I used bad terminology. I meant it wasn't a common standard Lego piece, not that it wasn't an official one. I have one of those myself from the 80s too.

So I'm currently in vegas and my brother wants me to pick up the minecraft set. Will I be able to get it from a store or should u just get it delivered to my hotel? I tried toys r us and target but no dice so far...

You won't find the set at Target or Walmart since it's a direct to consumer type set. Best bets is using the set locator on Toys R Us's site or visiting the official Lego store.

Death Star finished. Dinner eaten. Beer drinking underway. Time to populate the Death Star with lots of mini figs and witness the firepower of that fully armed and operational battle station!

We're you annoyed as I was at how flimsy and haphazardly designed the two lifts were? In a set with such nice design choices, bot the lifts felt tacked on and not properly thought out.

I hate strings on sets so much. Soooooo much. The final lift that goes through the entire center section was the worst. The cell block hatch actually dropping into the trash compactor is the best part to me. A very simple touch, but adds so much.

I only added the figures that came with it, but tempted to just overpopulate the shit out of this set with tons and tons of figures.

Yeah, the hangar bay lift isn't great, but it's 100x better then the horrible central elevator.

I also loved how they have the cones hanging down with the rope to swing across the chasm on the bottom tier. Great touches as you build, thinking "wtf am I making?" only for your memory of minor details in the films to sink in. The entire build was just a huge nostalgia trip.

How much was it at the Lego store you went to? Curious how prices are, since the Honolulu one seems to price things enough so that it's often worth paying s/h online.

Also did you get your coupon?

Also are you sure you aren't working for Lego? Cuz you are making me want to buy a set that I never wanted.

I never got a coupon, so I paid full price. $399. I did cash in all my VIP points on it though.

I was totally against the set forever, because I thought it was hideous in photos. But after getting into the modulars and mini fig collecting, I saw the Death Star in a different light. I also just sold my car so I had a lot of money and decided to treat myself to a HUGE set. And damn, was it worth every single penny. This set is a mini figure display heaven. All exposed and easy to move stuff around, and HUGE!

I still never received a catalog =( I would love to have one to get a coupon.

nice,
now please stop making me want one too :p

To give some idea of the size of the set. Anyone with the Imperial Shuttle knows how massive that set is. And the TV in the pic is 50", so that should give an idea of the scale of the model.

I am just thankful that it fit perfectly onto my subwoofer. Now I just need a place to put the Millenium Falcon that used to be there. But I have been thinking of disassembling it for parts recently, so that is most likely what I will do.

gah. That Death Star is so cool. I like how the mish-mash a bunch of scenes from the different movies together. I could see myself paying the money for said set; I just don't have anywhere to put it. NONE! =P

This was my favorite part of the build! Great photos btw.

Prepare for your friends being in awe the first time they see it :D

Was so much fun!

About my only complaint is the roof above the two front seats. It's flimsy as all hell, and prone to fall apart at a moment's notice.

Those are the 2012 TIE and X-Wing? I've seen the DS in the Lego store, but never saw the Shuttle in person. Damn, that thing is huge.

I need to get bigger floor speakers so I have more room to display Lego. I'm sure my downstairs neighbor will understand.

Can anyone recommend any sets that are good parts wise.

It depends on what kind of parts you are after. What are you wanting to build?
The set I grabbed a couple of just for parts for a small building was Apple Tree House. It is easy to find in stores, and has lots of nice pieces for buildings and houses in it.

"Oil bath?" So that's what it is. I did not know that. Makes sense, I suppose.

I have no idea what it was supposed to be. The oil bath in the film was not on the Death Star, but I just went with it there.

The Death Star looked big in store, but I had no idea how big it truly was until it started to come together. The Imperial Shuttle was the same way. It was like "Oh, this isn't so bad. A nice sized ship." Then you start putting the top fin together and go "ummm...this is getting out of hand. Where is this going to go?"

Got sent another 10% off in Lego stores voucher so I guess I'll be making another purchase soon.

Also it's free delivery online and the free mini Sopwith Camel promotion should be coming soon (magazine says 27th, but there's no sign of it on the site) to the UK.

WUT?! Seriously?

I bought one from Amazon when they first had them in late May and it's been sitting sealed in my office desk ever since.

No. Ignore that. They will have them throughout this year, just out of stock at the moment:

Update: Tim from Cuusoo has stated in the comments "Actually, the message Dennis received is inaccurate. We knew the LEGO Minecraft Micro World would be popular, and though we are temporarily sold out at LEGO Direct, more than 10,000 have been made, and we are planning to meet demand on this item throughout the year."

Update 2: LEGO Direct Consumer Services is now stating "We just got an update on this item last night, Dennis, and we anticipate Set #21102 LEGO Minecraft will be returning. We have forecasted and ordered enough to last us through the holiday this year. We are temporarily out of stock but anticipate replenishment in the future."

So, panic over for now, and the 'Brickset 'effect' has had a positive impact on getting clarification on this.

I am looking to build spaceships and other SciFi themed mocs.

Got the new Lego catalogue today, comes with a '10% off any one item' and free mini sopwith camel when you spend over £50. But I've got all the expensive sets I need. Maybe town hall, or another pet shop?

Things with wedge plates. I bought a Venator for a decent price which has lots, but it's out of print now. SSD would be great as a luxury parts set for space MOCs :D

unless you really want to build the set, just have a play with LDD,net an idea of the parts you need, and bricklink them.

The Millenium Falcon is also a great source for wedge plates, and is an easy to find set.

I wanted to get something with the price of $80 at most.

Creator 3-in-1 sets then. Propellor adventures has some wedges and engines for detailing, sonic boom is the same but bigger. Car sets like cool cruiser have some nice curved pieces if you want to do smaller ships like vipers

Seconding the Sonic Boom recommendation. Also look at the TIE Fighter. Quite a few black wedge plates in it, and some nice smaller bricks to use as well.

But if you do have the money someday, the Falcon is a fantastic source for bricks like that, and a fun build to boot.

yep, I also don't like the use of stickers, but that's a personal preference. I ruined the VW logo sticker and Lego won't ship licensed replacements. So I'll have to get another sticker off bricklink if I don't want my $120 set to have a glaring flaw.

Finally got my account approved(2 month wait!!).

The Cafe MOC is awesome. How do you guys store your instructions?
Some on here use 3 ring binders with sleeves. I have all mine in massive ziplock bags. Although, the Death Star instructions are so huge it won't work.

And thank you for the kind words on the cafe MOC.
