This is SO good, I think it's jumped to the top of my must-have list now.

I highly recommend it. Super fun build. I think I may have built the cockpit section wrong because the back part falls off easily and it doesn't spin very smoothly so I might rebuild it later.

I have to agree that what I've seen 2013 LEGO hasn't done much for me either. The Hobbit's "Unexpected Gathering" is best so far from the entire licensed group. But I am looking forward to the A-Wing reveal, hope that will happen soon..

The first run of tumblers sold out quick smart so I did another run, There's parts for 10 more in the way in the mail and I still have 3 camos left from last time

Thanks for the info. I don't think I can afford one this month, we'll see about next month.

I did mine in some cheap ikea frames. here's some pics

I found the official ones not very good. The different colours of the casing and the plates they're on combined with little dark recesses they sit in makes the minifigs get lost and not stand out very well.

I've definitely considered doing this, but I think I still want to be able to be able to play with the minifigs occasionally.

The frames would mean that I wouldn't have to dust though. Decisions, decisions...

I just thought about my last trip to the LEGO store...Some mother was buying her kid a LEGO set. The sales person offered her a brick seperater, and she replied, "Oh no, he won't need anything like that."

I wanted to poke my head in and be like, "Uhhh...Yeah he will."

But instead, I know that poor kid is going to loathe disassembly.

Kids just use their teeth. I know I did. :P

Been keeping a Walmart tab open with Pet Shop and Town Hall, and within the past hour the prices went up :( Pet Shop was down to $103 and is now $148 and Town Hall went up from $132 to $159. Although both are still out of stock I was hoping to get lucky.

Or the mother is one of those parents I have run into that doesnt like her child taking the sets apart.

I work retail, and occasionally do sell Lego sets when I am near that area. But so many parents say "I dont ever want him to take it apart. That is all he wants to do. I paid money for it so it is going to stay built."
Followed by me trying to explain how taking it apart and creating your own stuff is why the sets truly exist. She should encourage her child's creativity.

And here is a shameless plug for my LEGO Cuusoo project. Notice the incredible detail... Hey, wait! How did that get in there?

See, if they put out stuff like this for LotR, I would be all over it. I really want some large high quality UCS level stuff to leverage the LotR license. Considering the existing sets, I think it's the only way they'll manage to do justice to Minas Tirith.

I said it months ago, but I want them to do a modular Minas Tirith. Spread it out over several sets so that when it is all done you have one GIANT, magnificent beast.

Modular Minas Tirith can join modular Cloud City as my dream projects. Make it happen TLG!
I don't think Cloud City needs to be modular to be a grand set. An UCS version would be enough.

And like I brought up months ago, they need to do an entire line of Cloud City sets. So many iconic scenes they could do. Lots of things that would make great UCS sets like Cloud City itself and the Cloud Cars, but you can also make so many play sets from it. Landing platform to put the Falcon on. The garbage room where Chewie finds c3PO. The dining room where they meet Vader. The torture room. The carbonite chamber. The room where Vader throws the stuff at Luke and breaks the window. The walkway where Vader cuts off Luke's hand.

That location is the gold mine that they need to do. If anyone from Lego is reading this, call me. I have lots of ideas for it.

Yeah, that is what I meant - a bunch of Cloud City play sets (carbonite chamber, dining room, junk room, landing platform, the "big-window" room, area where luke gets his hand chopped off), but have them all link together so that you could arrange them in various ways.

Or do two sets. One huge UCS model style Cloud City (much like the Death Star II set). Then another giant $400 play set with all the vignettes like the current Death Star.

So I was reading last year for Black Friday the lego shop did free shipping and gave away like two promo holiday sets. I'm hearing they are having free shipping starting on the 15th and understand this month is double points but really the only thing i'm going to order is the lego winter cottage. Is it better if I just wait till Black Friday, id rather have free promo sets. and free shipping than double vip points.

Names for the Lone Ranger sets:

79106 Cavalry Builder Set
79107 Comanche Camp
79108 Stagecoach Escape
79109 Colby City Showdown
79110 Silver Mine Shootout
79111 Constitution Train Chase

I agree. I think that Minas Tirith would have to be a large UCS set in order to do it justice. I'm toying with the idea of designing a smaller version of Orthanc. I'm not sure how much of the surface detail will have to be sacrificed when the overall size is scaled down. It was my desire to mimic the surface details as accurately as possible to what is seen in the movies that led to its eventual large size. Scaling down the size would definitely reduce the level of detail somewhat.

Just saw the Dark kinght rises stuff, so bummed with how bad they look. Had high hopes and Lego crushes them! Mostly just want those minifigs, but I know they alone will cost nearly as much as the set.

OMG! I just got off the phone with LEGO and I talked with this REALLY helpful lady about my situation with that one particular brick that I need for my Orthanc Cuusoo project. She tentatively placed an order for 270 pieces which will cost $81.43 CDN including shipping. She needs to get approval for the order before sending it out though, so she is going to call me back later on. Crossing my fingers hoping that this will go through because this order would cost me roughly 3X more if I were to order from Bricklink.

If the Black Friday deal is the same as last year, then it would be better to wait. Last year they also gave 10% off orders on Black Friday.

I'll be downtown Miami this weekend-are there any US retailers currently discounting sets? I keep reading about Walmart, Barns & Noble etc. but don't follow it closely.

Just got an email from Lego. There is an event at the Rockefeller Center store tomorrow to show off the Ninja Turtle sets. There will also be a limited number of a new exclusive Turtle mini fig that day.

Still haven't put my 2 Minecraft sets together, though I plan to soon. I hope we'll hear more soon about those CUUSOO ideas in review!

YMMV, but I just picked up a PotC The Mill set (4183) on Clearance at my local Walmart for $20. First in-person Lego deal I've gotten! Been checking local Walmarts and Targets for about 6 months now and this is the first.

Finally, Toys R Us here in town has started carrying the Monster Fighters Zombie Coffin Car polybag. Come Christmas, I'll have the complete Monster Fighters set.

Click on the quoted image for a GIGANTIC look:

I love the king's throne, but the rest is kinda meh.

If I could get a set with the King, the dwarves, and the throne (no Gandalf, no extra goblins, none of the extra walkways) I think I would pick it up.

So wasn't expecting this today!

First one is in, second one should be at my apartment waiting!

Very nice. I bought one after it first went out of stock.
I'm planning to Bricklink the parts I want to make 5 more of the quad sections. That way I will be able to make a 3x3 square to add more detail to it.

Unless I have to buy the pieces from a bunch of vendors, I should be able to get it all for cheaper than buying another official Minecraft set (or two).
It's mainly just grey bricks and a bunch of 1x1 tiles which are pretty cheap and should be common on Bricklink. Should be a lot of fun to come up with my own design for it.

Did anyone here get the UCS Batmobile from back in the day? It looks badass. I bought one of Wetwired's tumblers (which is awesome btw).

I have this! I just finished building it a month ago. It looks fantastic.

Yeah, I didn't actually WANT two of them - there was a weird hiccup in my order and I ended up getting two (I paid for both of course). I'm not too disappointed as it WAS during double VIP, haha.
