My local LEGO store is now sold out of the Fire Brigade. Said they've got no more due in.

Grabbed some series 6 minifigs. Got 14 of the 16 now. Only skater girl and alien to go. :)

Also noticed for the first time that the LEGO store do these little poly bags stuffed with minifig parts and accessories. Only £3 so much better value than building in-store.

Very curious to see what is in the bag for £3. Please post a pic of the contents. I was just in a LEGO store a couple days ago and didn't see anything like this, but I may have missed it.

They are right near the tills where they keep the brick seperators and seasonal bags etc. had loads in my store.

In the bag is like 20 heads, 20 hats, 20 hairpieces and a metric fuckton of accessories. Cups, swords, guns, broomsticks. All sorts. There were only 6 bodies and 6 legs in mine, unfortunately.

It's all generic stuff, really, just the same stuff they have in the minifig builder pots in store.

What UK store is that? Tempted by Fire Brigade, and those bags of accessories...

Man Toys R Us really is fucking awful with lego. $10 off any set over $50 excluding Star Wars. COnsidering the prices of Star Wars sets would think they could afford 10 off

Do you know how good this feels? I know that sounds lame, but being able to buy yourself the cool toys you only dreamed of being able to buy as a kid is one of those moments where you say to yourself, "I'm all grown up."
Dude it's AWESOME. One of my coworkers was talking to a customer and his son about LEGO yesterday and I piped in about the dinosaur sets. Coworker jokes to the customer, "The difference here is, I buy them for my son, he buys them for himself." Hahaha :p

This may seem like a dumb question, but is it better/cheaper to buy LEGO at the actual LEGO store, or at a place like TRU or Target? Sometimes it feels like brand stores sell their stuff at a premium, but at the same time I'd imagine a LEGO store would also provide different or better discounts over the others?

Is anyone interested in going to Brickworld? It's one of the bigger Lego conventions in the US, held in the Chicago suburbs every June. What I think makes it interesting is if you sign up for the whole convention, there are workshops and round-table discussions on all things Lego.

There's also just a lot of cool stuff to see, like this:

Adam Reed Tucker, the guy who designs the Architechture Lego line is a founding member of the convention, so I hope/assume that he runs some of the workshops. At the very least he'll be there.

This is held only 15 minutes from my house, so I'm going this year for sure.

TRU has a painful markup. BOGO 50% is the time to look at TRU.

Target, Walmart, Meijer, etc all have random sales. $5 off, clearance, etc. The thing is, it varies pretty heavily between regions and online/B&M. You have to sort of just hunt.

Buying from Lego directly has the VIP benefits. The biggest bonus there is that you an get VIP points to get discounts later. I want to say its 100 points = $5 off, and every dollar you spend is 1 point. It isn't great, but it adds up. If a set isnt going on sale anytime soon, it's the way to go. :)

I'm originally from Chicago, but I live in Indy. I intend to go this year for the weekend stuff, though. Good chance to visit family, haha.

Man I am so close to going out and blowing a shitload of money on Lego. Dangerously close. I have to take my car in for maintenance tomorrow that'll take an hour and a half, and there's a Lego store in the mall right by the dealership.

I'm currently eyeing that massive DINO set that comes with the T-Rex even though I know I should not drop that kind of money. I may try to contain myself and get some smaller City sets. UGH! Tomorrow could very well mark my return to the world of Lego.

Another good B&M store to go to is Barnes and Noble. I say that a bit in here, but it is true. They are usually the same price as the Lego store or less, and you can use coupons that are easy to come by on the sets. Also you can earn gift cards using their Kids Club program since Lego counts as a toy in the store. They do not get all the sets, or any of the huge sets, but their stores usually have a pretty decent selection. The ones near me have lost of Pirates stuff, as well as Star Wars. The Dino stuff just showed up at my local one the other day.

I don't think we have a Lego store at all in Australia :(

That we don't, bro :(. I so badly want to pick-a-brick, or even just be able to say, "hey, I want this set right now; I'm gonna go to my local Lego store and pick it up". Instead, we have to pay for shipping and - worst of all - WAIT. The range on offer in AU retail simply isn't good enough.

Think I got the LEGO bug too, again. :)

I still have loads and loads of sets from early-mid '90 at my parents, but last week I bought a small Star Wars set (Droid escape), my first LEGO in over ten years. Since, I've bought the mini modulars (1 building left to build!), and several small LEGO city sets. Also got a F1 Ferrari set online.

Series I'm interested in are the modular buildings, Star Wars and city. Too bad the first two modular sets are already OOP, but I'm gonna get Fire Brigade before it goes OOP too. I'm still contemplating which star wars sets I'm gonna get. I'm really eyeing some of the UCS sets (again, too bad some of them are OOP), but I'm wondering which ones will go OOP soon. I heard the Tantive IV will be gone soon, so I'll probably start with that one, alongside the Emperor's Shuttle. Want to get the regular Millennium Falcon too pretty soon.

I like a lot of the city sets too, especially some of the news cars and trucks. Might get the airport too, and build a small city when I have some of the modulars.

I'll post some pics soon. Gonna build the last of the minimodulars now. :)

Does anyone take their sets apart after building them? I think a good chunk of the fun is actually building them, and there's not really a place in the house that the sets will look good in.

I'll probably build the sets, admire them (take some action shots), and then take it apart and either put it away, or try an MOC.

I'm after the 10230 Mini Modulars for this exact reason. The set itself looks fantastic, but I'm also interested to take it apart and experiment with some micro-scale stuff.

Just thought I'd put this here. MICRO-SCALE IS KING!

I see the mini modulars on Amazon for $115, but Brickset says the retail on that set was $80. Is this something you can pick up in the LEGO stores if you're VIP? I don't see them on LEGO.com anywhere, and I think this is one I'd want to pick up if it's limited.

It only shows on LEGO.com Store if you're signed in as a VIP.

Yeah, I saw that now. I had to google search for it though, since it kept throwing me to the main shop page (even though I was signed in).

Are the VIP exclusives available in stores as well? I'd rather just pick it up there, so I wouldn't have to pay both tax and shipping.

They are in LEGO stores, at least I saw them in Oberhausen, Germany.

Yeah, it's in store. In my local store they have it setup so you can see it before you buy. Looks so awesome in real life.

So, how the funk do I become a VIP member? I'm pretty sure I've completed the registration and whatnot. Do they actually send me a physical card to complete the registration? All I know is that I'm logged in and it won't show me the mini modulars.

you dont get your vip status until you checkout your first order.

Stuff like this and the little seaside village a few pages ago are the reasons I'm planning on raiding Pick a Brick come March 1st. So cool.

Wait... Surely you're not saying that I have to buy somethig else first before I can checkout with the Mini Modulars?

I was going to just get a mini fig series 6 bag but shipping is $5, bringing the total to $8+ just to access the VIP shit. Weak! I'll just get it at the Lego store tomorrow. >:\

Here it is! Got it for my birthday and I'm finally finished...only took me a couple of days. I now bought the X-wing Starfighter which I will probably start tonight. Ill post a pic of that as well when I'm done.

Ohhhhh. That is weak AS, Lego. There's an eBay seller in Australia selling it for only $2 more than RRP; I'd probably get it quicker, too. I'm-a keep my eye on it.

EDIT: I really love the way they do the sea gradient. So clever and effective.

Checked my order on Amazon and my Fire Brigade should be here in the AM tomorrow. Wasn't supposed to be here until Wednesday.

I know what I'm doing when I get home from work!

I'd get the X-Wing, but the S-foils are held in place by a rubber band, yes? When I was a kid I had a Technics destroyer droid which had a whole bunch of rubber bands in its construction, after some time they all got brittle and snapped. If Lego haven't resolved this issue I'd rather not buy any model that incorporates those rubber bands.

Yes, they're held in place by 4 rubber bands. I'm sure you could get free replacement ones through the missing pieces claim program.

Check the tape that seals the box closed. If it's got a code on it that reads 39R1 (that's the batch code) you'll likely be missing an entire bag labeled '1' like me. The box I got a week ago was from the same batch and apparently it's a well known issue. Lego was aware of the problem and they sent me the missing bag free of charge. Just a heads up.

Same issue here with the destroyer droid, but the x-wing is just a damn fun build and looks great when finished.

Yeah, look. Everyone just stop MOCin'. What's the point? Building Lego is exactly like playing an instrument; there's always someone out there on the internet making it painfully clear just how awesome you'll NEVER be.

EDIT: Also, THIS is the shit that should be getting thousands of votes on Cuusoo!

I'm selling sets of series 6 on ebay at the moment in Australia, maybe it's me? :P
