WTF is this?!

I'd need 3,844 1x1's to make this:

That's insane!

Check the tape that seals the box closed. If it's got a code on it that reads 39R1 (that's the batch code) you'll likely be missing an entire bag labeled '1' like me. The box I got a week ago was from the same batch and apparently it's a well known issue. Lego was aware of the problem and they sent me the missing bag free of charge. Just a heads up.
It just arrived. Box is huge!

Mine is from that batch. Is there any easy way to tell if I have a missing bag? There are quite a few bags marked 1 & 2, and then some unlabeled ones.

Search for the gold fire helmets. If it's not there, you're missing the bag they came in.

I googled and found some posts about getting 19 bags and having pieces missing. I counted, and sure enough, 19 bags. I called LEGO and talked to a really nice lady who said there should be 20 bags and she knew exactly which one to send out. I'll get that in 7-10 business days. Kinda sucks, but at least I can start building the stuff from bags '2' now.

Went the LEGO store during lunch and I picked up the mini Hogwart's Express and found the other Harry Potter polybag set at TRU when I was hunting for the Fire Brigade over the weekend. I really love the mini polybag sets.

Well, I gave myself a limit of $50 and I stuck to it!

Architecture Seattle Space Needle, Creator Blue Roadster, 3 Series 6 Minifigs, a Clarence Pharaoh's Quest set (Anubis is a BOSS!) and a Ron keychain for a friend. Siiick!

Are those architecture ones as underwhelming as I think they are? I would like to think the Space Needle is this soaring, masterful build.

But then the piece count. 57 pieces?

And most of the architecture set seems to be on the same level.

Here's a bunch of links (courtesy of Eurobricks) that everyone into MOC'ing and advanced techniques NEEDS to read. In particular, the second link for The Unofficial Advanced Building Techniques Manual is a must read - it explains a lot of awesome SNOT lettering and crazy useful tricks.

@wetwired, I would suggest posting these in the OP as well under a heading of MOC/Advanced Techniques or something...I really think this should be readily available to anyone who wants to push the limits of their building. :)

One of my Series 6 mini figs was Lady Liberty! YES! The other two were a swordsman and a sleeping boy with a teddybear. I want the robot!!

They seem to be somewhere between a to-minifig-scale model and a mini modular in size. I won't get to build it till tomorrow but it looks like just a simple cool build for my desk.

The tower of Dubai, though, that one looks like a laughable piece of shit. It's just a bunch of little grey cylinder pieces stacked in the shape of a tower. $20 for that? LOL. Get the fuck out of here.

Edit: Look, here it is

$19.99

YEAH RIGHT

Its double VIP points during March on the online store and in the Lego stores themselves (and a mini tie fighter from the 5th when you spend 50$/£/€)

When I was at the LEGO store during lunch today I decided to ask about the mini Tie Fighter deal since it wasn't on the calendar they had to give out in stores. The store manager was super cool and said he would investigate and call me back or email. He just emailed me and informed me that the free Tie Fighter is for the UK only. I'm waiting to hear back if it will be at least sold in the US or not. I can't seem to find a listing for it on brickset yet.

Aww that is disappointing, I was going to buy a Y-Wing to get it.

I dunno, they look pretty, but they just don't seem that interesting of a build. I would buy Rockefeller Center if I cared about Rockefeller Center.

My pickups from Chicago area Lego stores this weekend:

mba_lighthouse.jpg

Been wanting both the Lighthouse and the MBA set for a while. I have basically no experience attempting to do any MOC's so I was hoping the MBA would be a good start for me.

After watching a few review videos I realized that I had to have this. Haven't had the chance to get into it yet, but looks like its fun.

Did my first Pick a Brick, going to work on a few simple 8-bit items of my own thanks to the inspiration from this thread :)

went to walmart today and looked at the LEGO stuff. Some of it looked cool, but all WAY too expensive for a little desk ornament.

I have that wedding one on display here at my place - love it! And what IS the Life of George stuff? I don't get it...

The box has pieces and a board to build on.

You run an iPhone app that shows you an image to build and after you have it built you use the iPhone to take a picture of it, it gives you a score based on speed and how accurately you built it.

You can also make your own to store to use later I believe.

I watched this review and it helped sell me on it:

Haha that's awesome. I like the vid, too. If I had an iPhone, I'd be all over that. Seems like it could turn into an amaaaazing drinking game, too. Awesome.

How does the cup thing work? You pay or a cup and cram it with how much you can? Weight based? Them counting all the pieces doesn't seem like the best option that's why I ask. LEGO should open stores across more countries. =/

Seeing all the people posting pickabrick cups makes me so jealous for a Lego store. :(

PAB is OK, but it's sooo store dependent. I've gone to the local store a few times and came home empty handed (from the PAB wall, ha). Then again, I go in with a more specific set of pieces in mind. They always seem to have tires and steering wheels though.... -_-

The day my store has a good selection of plants and 1x1 plates. :3

Make use of some larger pieces instead if just studs.

You can reduce that number DRAMATICALLY by using larger bricks/plates where available.

Yup. I used very few 1x1 studs on my pixel MOCs posted on the other page. It's all about planning out where to use larger pieces.

Yeah, I planned to. It was just a more general surprise that it was going to be so many points - you know, the actual connector circles, whatever they're called.

How did you come to that number?

62x62 pixels.

I don't even know if I'm going to do it now, though. I wonder what's the largest baseplate available?..

There's a list of parts that they're able to order for the wall. If you find the right employee, you may be able to put in a request for them to order a specific piece (although they don't always get what they request, a lot is dependent on what Lego ships to them).

I've also heard that in March or May they'll get a new list of available pieces.

We went out and got that walker set from Alien Conquest after seeing that picture earlier in the thread. It's pretty damn cool. The build of the legs for the 'Tripod' is pretty stellar.

EDIT: told my kid the other guy was just 'sleeping' for the trip, since I don't think he could grasp alien abduction just yet. lol

Nice pick up! Let us know how the Space Needle is.
I'm happy to say I went from junior to member by posting in this thread! As tribute, I've Lego-ed my avatar.

I haven't taken picture of the sets I managed to reassemble. Unfortunately it seems i have lost one set almost completely. But the reason I quoted you is to ask are you from Hungary?

EDIT:
2687_image_1_uig.jpg

I am missing a corner wall, some barrel pieces and two or three swords and all the feathers. As for the corner wall, I managed to fill it up nicely with some black and grey pieces. Oh and one sloped grey piece inside the castle.

d4e4o5g414p4n5x5m444v2u2.jpg

I am missing only the red hat. Got from my mother after my parents divorced. So i am happy i have this

lego6245.jpg

Unfortunately missing the boat, the gun and the paddles. I think i gave it to some relatives to put in their aquarium.

6593-1.1122519859.thumb2.jpg

This depressed me, since I am missing much more then 50% of the parts. Plus i got this from my father... I am very sad about this. Thinking about buying the set from bricklink.

d4e4o5g414j3y404x274s2u2.jpg

missing the gun, and i presume some gold

And a technic helicopter with five parts missing and one broken, i cant find a picture at this moment, but i had one two weeks ago and the instructions on my moms laptop.

The other, thing that depressed me is that i remembered how many small toy cars and parts my friends stole...

Found the copter pic:
8825-1.jpg

Other then the boat car and the fire engine all other pieces were bought second hand so some pieces were already missing, and i have pieces from i don't have an idea which sets.

EDIT XY: The thing that derails me the most, is that so many of you have girlfriends that share or at least understand your passion.

Finished up Metal Grudge. If you notice the front page of the creator's instructions and video have some slight differences than what you actually end up with after following the directions. I was able to figure out the changes as well as get some information from the creator and I went with his original design. I just like the grenade launchers better and the symmetry of a couple parts. Oh and the control sticks were my design.

I saw that a few months ago and wanted to build one. I don't have the all required parts to do one though.

i just tried to find it but couldnt while skipping back a few pages.

did someone say that you dont get VIP points on your first order? if that is the case i have to quickly order something mundane before hitting the big stuff ;)

got the little creator bulldozer yesterday, really cute and intricate for its size
