Do you mix Lego bricks with Mega Blocks bricks in your Lego bin?

iHZ6qgdneZ9th.jpg

I'm gonna catalog my bin into rebrickable and it turns out i have quite a bit of Mega Blocks in there.

So I've decided the four bigger sets i really want as of now are

Queen Anns Revenge
The Black Pearl
The Grand Emporium
and The VW Camper Van.

I might actually start with the fire brigade since its going OOP pretty soon but anyone know roughly when the rest of these sets will go OOP so I don't get stuck trying to track one down at the last minute?

I want the town hall too but that just came out so I'm not to worried about that one yet.

Oh I know, I seperated out the mega blocks and comtemplating whether or not to dump them in. To be fair Mega Blocks were gifts from my childhood years ago.

To make amends, here is my recently completed Tantive IV (10198)

and my other two big sets
Mobile Crane (8053)

Tractor Trailer (8063)

Well, I did it.

Spent definitely too much money on LEGO this month. The most expensive one (10185 Green Grocer) should arrive next week.

Wow Tantive IV is a great looking model when done. Might have to do that next!

It really is a nice model and a nice leisurely build. My only complaint is that it has no stand and sits on the turret.

I really want to get the Imperial Shuttle (10212) now, but in Canada its $309, $50 more expensive then in the States, But I kind want to take advantage of the Double VIP Points.

Just finished the desk on the Tantive. Love it so much I really want a life size version. of the desk.

Of course my own Blockade Runner coukd be useful too.......

I also see K-nex parts in there.

Only Mega Blocks pieces I have are from Jumble sales. Usually the first thing I sort out. Trickiest pieces are smooth ones, but you can usually tell from the quality which is which.

Day 2 of building the Fire Brigade and I'm done. What a fun build. The details inside like the kitchen and ping pong table are really fun details. On top they even have you put a bat in the bell tower. Building 1932 was definitely interesting. I remember reading someone say that and I thought to myself how could it really be that different. When you get to it, you will see why. Maybe I was doing something wrong but it was a pain to get it to fit into the space they want it in. I finally snapped things closer together and got it in place. Here are some pics of I took while sorting and at the end.

Some serious money right here! I find it hard to justify spending so much on toys. How do you guys do it? I can afford it, but I have guilt over the Imperial Shuttle price alone! Keep in mind I spend a lot on video games as well.

You know, I thought the Death Star was ugly at first, because I prefer minifig-scale ships, but I have so many leftover minifigs that aren't pilots or that don't have a spot in the ships. I'm thinking the Death Star is basically a perfect 'display case' for my standalone minifigs.

Do you guys agree?

Finally finished the T1 Camper Van. Took me 7-8 hours to finish at a leisurely pace, and it was a blast. And yes, that poster on the inside says "MAKE LEGO MODELS NOT WAR" :D

Fun build, good display piece, and moderately priced for a pretty involved build. Recommended!

Great Job! I had no idea the engine was so detailed. I might have to pick that up at some point.

My son and I got this little set for tonight:

I would have gone to the Lego store but I'm sure the mall around here is a madhouse because it's raining. Maybe during the week sometime.

If you keep the box and the instructions and don't lose any parts you can always sell the set if you need money or don't care about it anymore.

That's how I justify these purchases.

The big Star Wars sets and especially the modular buildings keep their value pretty well (or even rise, see Green Grocer for example).

As I anxiously await Toys R Us to ship Fire Brigade to me, I looked at the instructions on Brickset. HOLY SHIT! You build and design the back exit to the building as well? That is so awesome.

I love the Star Wars stuff dearly, but I think I might get too addicted to the modulars. Fire Brigade will be my first since it is about to be OOP. Wish I could get cafe corner at a decent price, since that set looks fantastic to build. But I think my second modular will be Grand Emporium. Love the corner look to it.

Terry, you are the man. I'm going for it.

Yeah they are very addicting. Started with GE and FB, then came Pet Shop. Yesterday I had to buy Green Grocer, as long as the price is sub $500.

If you buy one of them, keep in mind that you will want all the others as well (at least the ones currently available).

I know, and that is why I am scared. But, I look at the prices of these huge sets compared to everything else out there, and they are a steal. So many bricks for that price. And I like that I can spread the love around.

And I just watched the video of the designer showing off Town Hall. Dammit. Looks so awesome when constructed. LOVE the elevator.

It is funny. As a kid I hated the town stuff and was all over Space, Castle, and Technic sets. And then Pirate. But the things that fascinate me the most now are the buildings and normal stuff, just because the architecture and engineering of them is so fascinating. The attention to all the detail.

Yeah, we mix them up - it's 90% LEGO, few Mega Blocks Halo sets and a Top Gear K-nex in there.

I thought about trying to sort the Sandcrawler out, it was a great set but there must be 15-20,000 pieces in the bucket.

I kept the instructions but fear it's lost forever.

Thanks, searching a bit seems in the 2000s they used the same characters for some other world regions and a dinosaur island. I guess more recently for archaeology/adventure they had the Indiana Jones license anyway, instead of "Johnny Thunder".

Also just noticed on those photo how badly some pieces are joined together, haha.. shame.

I still have the sphinx's head and a few of the cars intact. No idea why I kept that bit of the set together.

That's no moon, it's my new LEGO set!

Also the Manager at the LEGO store said he might be able to help me out with never getting my points from my SSD back in December.

Did tested not have a video on friday?Just catching up with wednesdays episode and they mention a live episode on friday but i can't find it for download. Avoiding the tested thread as i haven't watched ep 21 yet

It was live on Justin tv or whatever. It might be archived there.

Just did all three builds of the Creator 5762 Mini Plane.

Super quick and easy... well taking apart the smooth, flat pieces wasn't!

I'm digging taking pictures and documenting everything I build. It's bad though, I find myself editing out crumbs and scratches on the table!

The Cuusoo Hayabusa looks great, and I'm really glad it's getting released outside of Japan. I finished the Shinkai 6500 not too long ago:

So when I picked up the Death Star today I grabbed a minifig to get the total jsut over $400 to get max points from it. Got the Scottish Warrior, which is amusing because the only other minifig blind bad I got was the series 5 British Guard. They shall be locked in eternal combat!

Can you not order the Japanese sets from Amazon Japan?
