I just do not understand the appeal of the SSD. It's a $400 set that is a giant, gray, symmetrical triangle filled with a bunch of tiny decoration pieces. I guess if you REALLY liked Star Destroyers...

To each his own, eh? ;) I'm right there with you though...I'd spend $400 on Lego no problem. Not on a Star Wars set though - just not my cup of tea.

im going bonkers right now.
installed the Lego Digital Designer on my mac, but i cant rotat bricks.
googling tells me one should use the arrow keys, but they do jack, and i cant find anything specific to the mac version...
anyone know what I am missing?
the thing is i used LDD a year ago, and I had the same problem but figured it out somehow but for the life of me I cant now...

[edit]
got it, drag the piece first... for some reason...

The SSD is a sexy looking model, but if they would make a new UCS Star Destroyer I would buy that in an instant. Regular Star Destroyer is cooler looking than an SSD. Yeah, I went there.

agree, I think the star destroyer is Better looking. And the SSD doesnt do much in the movies, whereas the star destroyers are front and centre right from the start

Only thing dropping me buying the previous one is the hope they'll do a new UCS of it

I agree that the ISD is the better Lego model but onyl becasue to do the SSD real jutsice it has to be huge and I mean twice the size at least of the current model. That will never happen though so due to the ability to have more detail the ISD wins.

Having said that, I am so enjoying building the SSD and I have just got to the end of box one, bag(s) 1.

Although the ISD has a better design then the SSD, there is one thing I absolutely love about the SSD... the engines:

What is the Lego number for ISD?

Speaking of the Western theme, I would remind/urge everyone to vote for the Western modular set on LEGO Cuusoo - they just broke the half-way mark (5,000 votes) for hopefully making this a reality.

What is the deal with the Cuusoo website, is it a remarkably polished fan site or part of the official site?

Why "unfortunately"?

I think it's a waste of the service, especially given the final product and the way it was voted for by all the minecraft fans.

It's a testament to how effective the site can be and how anything can be produced though, I wont deny that.

Wow I never noticed the price difference between practically any other retailer and the lego online store. Are they seriously charging 120 for the xwing???

I voted for the Western set.

Now vote for the Ultimate Collectors Series Sandcrawler. It's looks insane:

PICS

I've seen this one before...It really is an amazing model. It would be really cool to see them produce something like this in the future (after doing another non-Star Wars super set...).

I sort of agree - it's a good way to show how the site can work given support, but Minecraft is, in my opinion, not the set that should have gotten all the support it did. There are so many other sets that I think deserved it more than that theme did. But that's just how this sort of thing goes!

Uh, no? The X-Wing shows up for me at retail price, USD 59.99. I know some sites will discount that price a very small amount (generally not more than more than 4 or 5% off for a non-sale set, though I guess BN.com was doing 10% off retail when the new Star Wars sets first launched), but Lego always sells for whatever their retail price is.

So, I picked up the Ewok Attack, Cannibal Escape and Log Cabin all for around 115AUD, which is pretty good, I think. An odd-seeming mix at first, but the colour congruity and foliage pieces were the main draw-cards and have me quite excited to kick-start my budding MOC career! This is going to be demoralizing. WOOYEAHLEGO!

I found someone local selling 6211 Imperial Star Destroyer with no minifigs for $75. I'm not a Star Wars fan, but I might bite. There's some cool pieces in that...

What large non-SW set would you like to see after Tower Bridge? What have we had?

- Taj Mahal
- Eiffel Tower
- grand carousel

What else?

It might be showing the "double" price to denote double points in the first part of March.

Petshop should be arriving tonight!

I got my son a subscription, and he seems to like them fairly well. I haven't had much of a chance to look at them yet. I wasn't aware of the 7-9 sets, though, I'd be interested in the modular design one myself.

Kit 7-9 is only a preorder. It's actually out in May.

I am looking at the lego site right now and it still says $119 for the price. Nothing noted about VIP points just a price of 119.

Other strange pricing

449.99 for the Shuttle
89.99 for the Tie Fighter

Not sure why my prices are so high but that is what is showing up. I even added it to my cart to make sure it wasn't some wierd issue and it says my order total for a xwing would be 154.99 (35 shipping wow)

The US site?

Because of double points March, yes?!

Yes, I even logged out of my username on there to make sure I didn't do something strange.

Might check the URL and make sure you're not mistakenly in a different country site - manually changing from en-US to en-AU puts the X-Wing at $119.99 (AU$ obviously, though it's not explicitly marked as such)

Damn, MBA sets 7-9 look really fun. I'm kinda tempted to buy the earlier ones, but I feel like I'd have more fun spending all that money on dino, or waiting for monster fighter or LotR.

I kinda wish I'd started looking at legos a couple of years sooner, so many of the recently out of print sets seem like fun.

Ok that fixed it, odd since I looked at the top right when I was having issues and it said US. I left it alone since I figured it was right.

Thanks guys

I know a lot of people have a problem with Apple, but I quite like it. Do I think it deserves to be made over other sets? No. But I think they did a good job with some of the interior details. There's some creative stuff going on in there.
