Really appreciate the work you've put into this. Sadly £900 spent in the last month on Lego means I have to wait but she will be mine. Oh yes, she will be mine.

On a more sour note; my lastest delivery from Lego has had a change of vocation. He no longer wants to come and join my band of merry minifigs but instead has opted for life on the open road. Everyday he leaves Wmbley to take a little trip but as soon as he is about to be taken out of the van he pleased for "one more day" of driving with his new best friend, the HDNL driver.

Being a decent chap and all Mr Driver grants this extension and off they go back to Wembley for the night with fresh adventures filling his little head.

I'm close to writing to the Board of Directors of HDNL as this is the 3rd address and at least 10th time we've been on this merry dance together. Used work to get the company's annual report so I have the names and addresses of the whole board.

I emailed Lego twice in the last 3 days but no reply yet which is odd. Next up is a phone call.

Dear lord... :(

Well here goes nothing!
About to start the biggest I've ever done. Small potatoes to some I know but I'm building my way up! :D
Offroad power is GO!

Doesn't look like a whole lot in a crappy phone pic but it looks much more intimidating in person. 1061 peices

Well I did it. I ordered the Grand Emporium set from Toys R US. They also had a 2 for 5 deal going on for the series 6 minifigs so I grabbed 2. I really cannot wait to build this....I also have the XWing coming. Well if Amazon feels like shipping it....been "shipping soon" for 2 days now

Would I be crazy to dump all the bags in the box for Grand Emporium?

Retain your sanity. Don't mix the bags. But don't sort either.

Fed Ex dropped off my Tower Bridge today. Sadly, they came when I was at work and my wife was as well. We both got off work late, so the leasing office was closed. My Tower Bridge is locked up in the office now, just waiting.

Dammit.

I am waking up early tomorrow to go the office first thing in the morning. I have the day off, and plan on ripping through that set.

This will feel VERY good. Get ready, haha.

Those ships are from Homeworld, right?
No, they are not from anything in particular, but I agree that some designs remind of different ships, and he doesn't hide his inspirations. Few of them look like something straight out of Wipeout to me.

*edit* You're actually right! That yellow one is from Homeworld, called Taiidan Gunship.

This design is so freaking beautiful. One of the best!
That one, QF45 and the one with bulb cockpit are my favorites. QF in particular is pretty much perfection in terms of angles fitting together and a deceit factor, that you can't believe it's made from lego until you look closer. The yellow one is almost as good, but the rear half is not quite as insanely good as the front half.

But seriously, all those ships look like they came straight out of some inspiringly designed CG movie or something. He uses lego geometry limitations to his design advantage, basically making it all seem like the design was meant to be angular like that in the first place, and all the parts used just happened to allow it.

It was worth it - I can't wait to start building that thing, and I'm also happy that other people will now be able to do so much more easily.

There's a LOT of green in that display. O_O

Yes. And a whole lot of awesome.

I was worried they forgot the AT-AT, until I looked closer and saw it hiding behind the landing platform.

EDIT: God help me. I just ordered the Y-Wing since it is on sale at Toys R Us. Going to do in store pick up tomorrow morning. I have lots of building to do this week. But this is the last Star Wars ship for a long time.

ive been wondering,
how do you open the lego boxes with minimum damage?

ive been using a knife, but that will sometimes leave a log of jugged edges if you mess up.

ive also been thinking about warming it up first with a hair drier, not sure if that will help though.

iron helps. just don't press the steam button, if it has one.

they look like Chris Foss designs, or at least inspired by him. Makes me want to build all of them, so good.

Hnnnnnnnnng

tell me thats not a UCS scale imperial shuttle looking tiny on that landing platform...

@parrotbeak No, it's still massive as SHIT on my screen. I would open it in paint or whatever, resize the canvas to 20-30% or so, and repost. FAR too huge. :|

Hey Lego GAF! I've been lurking for a while, decided to get in on the action!

This thread gave me the itch to pull all my Lego out once again.
I was able rebuild my Space Police 6986 Mission Commander, with 98% of the original parts! Oh, how I love this set!

I'm loving the new 2012 Star Wars sets, probably have about 4-5 of them now. The new X-wing is AWESOME!! Also found some clearance sets at Walmart and TJ Maxx. I will post pics later.

Great to be building again! This might get costly though!

Town hall, grand emporium, or pet shop? what say you LEGOgaf?

Having just finished Town Hall, I would say wait on that one. It looks great when done, but the build is just above average until you get to the roof. I have yet to do Grand Emporium or Pet Shop, but those look fantastic to build.

I am now about 5 hours into my Tower Bridge build. I dumped the bags into individual plastic containers so I could easily stash them when I leave the apartment. I did combine several bags into bins as well, but I was not insane enough to mix it all.

I decided to do both towers simultaneously. It looks awesome as it comes together.
Off to the movies, then back to continue on this beast tonight.

I actually went with Town Hall. Had not made use of my 10% off coupon and figured might as well go for the more expensive one. Also had $55 in points thanks to some purchases and LEGO being awesome and giving me my points for my SSD purchase back in December, despite losing receipt (they saw an error on their computer). Ended up paying $145 after tax for the Town Hall and 3 Mini figs (Leprechaun, Western Guy, and Greaser).

Picked up the Y-Wing for $41 at Toys R Us and the Geonosian Star Fighter for $25 at Target. Not insane sale prices, but cheaper than normal. Toys R Us has the Batcave for $62...which again is only slightly cheaper but cheap enough to sell out.

Their retail price for that shit is like $82, why do they charge so much for EVERYTHING? Isn't this why they had to merge their Baby R Us into their Toys R Us? Even with "Toys" in their goddamn name, Target and Wal Mart out sell them. Pricks.

Just finished Tower Bridge. Total time: 11 hours approx.

While there were certain parts that were annoying to build (like the times you make the multiple beams with all the 1x1 slope pieces for the sides), this has been the most impressive set I have ever made. I elected to build both towers simultaneously, and I think that saved me a lot of time on the build since I was digging for pieces for one, I might as well fish out double.

The sheer size of this set when done is just incredible. Having a set this gorgeous looking and massive on display feels like dick waving, and I dont care. It is gorgeous, and the size is just breathtaking once it is completed.

A fantastic price for an insane number of bricks, and a great set to show people that scoff at Lego as a child's toy. I am sure that when guests see this whenever they visit my home they will think twice about joking about my Lego obsession as of late.

I have the Y-Wing I got from Toys R Us (on sale again people! It is a cool looking set!) yet to open and build, but I am taking a long break from buying sets. I have dropped so much damn money on Lego this past month I am surprised my wife still loves me. I must let my wallet recover, and this summer I will either pick up more modulars, or R2D2. And someday I will convince my wife to let me bring the Super Star Destroyer into our home.
