Lots of good stuff there. The Vietnam diorama is quite mind-blowing:

Crazy attention to detail:

Also this ship feels so wonderfully unabashedly Lego! Unashamed to show off studs on every surface detail.

Thinking of disassembling my Imperial Shuttle then rebuilding it. I get bored easily and really want to build, and that is the oldest mega set I have around. I have torn down and rebuilt my TIE Fighter, X-Wing, and Millenium Falcon recently, so the Shuttle is next in line.

Maybe spend the next few nights taking it apart, then spend Monday putting it back together or something. Perhaps another time lapse video?

I dunno. I cant buy any new sets, but I want to build more. I will probably redo my modulars in a few weeks due to boredom.

I've sold a lot of stuff on eBay and in all reality as a buyer you have near invulnerability! Also, he has a lot of feedback at 99.9% so it seems safe.

So if it happens to say it's just the box or something sleazy like that I could still be safe and get my money back?

In his description I don't see anything along the lines of it being just the box. Also, under item specifics it says "New: A brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item (including handmade items). See the seller's listing for full details"

I'm thinking about buying it too in all honesty, just need to get $400 together :P

The weirdest thing to me is the location it's shipping from says "Item location: ///, Australia" and the seller is from China.

The seller has to provide full tracking information to Ebay/PayPal in order for them to win a case. They have to prove it's been delivered.

The listings do state the buyer offers returns if the item is not as described, so if you do get a fake item, and the buyer is unwilling to refund you, you can always file a claim with PayPal/Ebay and will probably get a refund.

It looks like the seller is in China and offering free shipping to any country in the world, so it could either be fake, or stolen, etc. (It seems he deals in fake/cheap Chinese knockoff jewelery and this is his first time selling Lego)

He also has a bunch of the other more expensive Lego sets.

He's also selling the Death Star for $166, and a 2TB HP MyBook for $40, and all sorts of jewels and gems... and he's from China, land of the LEGO knock-offs.

Well I bit the bullet, hopefully it doesn't go sour and I have to spend time on paperwork for returns, etc. But the bolded part makes me nervous...

Good luck. We're all counting on you.

I would love to believe it, but the fact that he has that many first run copies with receipts from nearly 5 years ago makes me VERY nervous. And that he is selling for below original MSRP.

"All returns must be received within seven days after receipt of the item(s). Refund will be 100% of the bid amount, shipping and handling fees are non- refundable."

"Buyer pays return shipping"

Good luck returning a massive set to China in 7 days for anything less than a fortune.

EDIT: I hope I am proven wrong here.

As a seller on ebay though I know firsthand how badly they treat us, so I'm sure you'll have no problems getting your money back if it's a fake.

First off, I'm sure the seller won't use a tracked method, meaning that right there will get you your money back in a dispute (if it doesn't arrive). Secondly, again as I mentioned, if it's fake, the seller clearly says if it's not as described you'll get a refund, so even if he doesn't give you one, ebay will.

The most important thing to keep in mind are the timeframes ebay gives for disputes. Once those are up, you're screwed, so just make sure to circle those dates on your calendar so you don't forget!

Well that was stupid. Now I don't see how this can be real and I have this huge financial problem to deal with. I sent the seller a message asking to cancel the order.

If anyone has any other advice about how to cancel this order PLEASE PM me. FYI - I didn't use a PayPal account, I paid as a PayPal guest user.

So stupid :(

Here is how the buyer would go about it if you contact them asking to cancel the transaction.

Off of his Death Star listing: "All my items are 100% authentic and Guaranteed authentic"

God speed and good luck

Are LEGO sets made in China? Maybe some factory found a misplaced crate of them...

Been actively looking for the set, and this interests me, but lots of alarms going off in my head. Will sleep on it.

Thanks dude. I didn't think I was dumb enough to make such an impulse buy like this, but I had a feeling that my Lego addiction would turn ugly at some point. Maybe I'm just being dramatic. Hope he responds to my message.

Hope it works for you, but if you end up not getting a refund/return, at least keep us in the know!

"Manufacturing of Lego bricks occurs at a number of locations around the world. Molding is done in Billund, Denmark; Nyíregyháza, Hungary; and Monterrey, Mexico. Brick decorations and packaging is done at plants in Denmark, Hungary, Mexico and Kladno in the Czech Republic."

I'm pretty sure they also have a factory in Sweden.

You run into sellers like these when collecting star wars figures. If there are factories there, then these are probably legit and they get them in bulk. In the star wars scenario, they buy bulk from Hasbro and these are toys that don't pass quality assurance. Most of the time, you can't find anything Wrong with them. Others, they may have two left hands or legs or, let's use Luminara Unduli as an example, her tattoos are missing below her lip.

You don't get feedback that high without having satisfied customers. Read the feedback and see if people who have built the item are praising. Might be a gamble worth taking.

That seller offering free shipping is the crazy part. My pile of ucs falcon parts weighs 15 pounds even without being packed up for shipping. I don't even have the original box or instruction book adding weight either.

Having looked at his feedback, the dudes a gem salesman...he may not know the value. I mean, people are buying more than one from him probably to flip.

Again though, Lego isn't made in China or Australia, so that many sets showing up randomly in either country is pretty crazy. Again though, if it is legit, it's probably hot merch.

This was the first thing that threw me off. Free shipping to anywhere in the world? That's insane, it would probably cost upwards of $100 to ship those sets to most parts of the world. But again, if the merch is stolen he's not losing anything.

Really? How anyone can believe for even a second that this guy is a legit seller is beyond me. Didn't sell one Lego set at all, only (probably fake) gems of all things, suddenly sells hundreds of Lego sets (all of them sold out or realy rare/expensive), and sells them below the cheapest price you can find anywhere. Also, from China. Also, free shipping. How do people fall for this?

Well, I'd love to be proven wrong, but I don't think this will happen anytime soon.

Do you even get Paypal service if you're using it as a guest?

I need to know where he got them before I bite.
Biggest alarms come with the free shipping and the fact he has an even cheaper listing with no apparent difference between them.
Someone take the sacrifice for the sake of us all!
(Actually I do think that Lego has a packaging plant in china so it wouldn't be far fetched that he got it from a stolen container or something like that provided it's real and not a defective set)

Off to the legoland Windsor star wars event today. Mainly to have a look at the new star wars dioramas, but this weekend they're star wars theming things, so they'll hopefully have stormtroopers walking around, and you can ride on a full size land speeder :)

I finally came through
foto2pyusy.jpg

I think those are good sets for a start. I will probably build all the proposed figures first and then throw all the bricks together and start my own miniature stuff.

How do you guys proceed with these boxes?

My old Hogwarts set which has been in the same spot for about 10 years really needs a good dusty. I never realised how bad it was.

I also have this 1995 Technic Bike (http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=8422-1) that has never been taken apart. The parts have really aged and I fear taking it apart now would actually break them. Technics sets are apparently not for long term displaying.

Indeed they have been pulled. Saved myself some grief and £100 it seems. I had better go out and buy something off my want list instead as a reward.

I approve of this thought process. I do it myself.

Did I put my pants on right today? Yes? I should reward myself with a new set.

People who have bricklinked for sets. Is haggling a common and accepted practice?

I don't know - buying a set complete? I mean, it can't hurt to PM someone and tell them the situation (that there are definitely cheaper ones on there or whatever), but I don't really know haha
