Or just buy one of the passenger train sets. They run ~$170 or so, but include all of the parts needed to motorize your train, a good amount of track, AND another train. :)

That's what I was wondering - cargo train as shown. But then I could only run one at a time.

The prices are pretty reasonable really. I wouldn't need an RC receiver, and the AAA battery box is enough

I picked up Hogwarts castle on clearance at Kmart. Unfortunately, someone stole the minifigures but at 1200 pieces for $50, I couldn't pass it up. After building it, I think I will dismantle it and use the bricks for spare parts. It feels more like a playhouse than an actual set that you would want to display.

My coworker got the same set on sale at Walmart and the entire first bag was missing. He called LEGO customer support and they replaced the entire bag, which contained the minifigs. Just give them a call, they should help you out.

/\ such a good set.

Built the lighthouse today, while my son built the cool cruiser. Both nice builds, and we'll probably swap over and he'll do the lifeboat station and I'll do the F1 car over the weekend. 3-in-1 gives a set good legs

Neonglow got the set at a considerable discount because the figs were missing, and now you want him to ask for those back from Lego? That's fraud.

I want most of those LotR sets so bad D: And they'll probably be on a Star Wars Lego price scale. Daaaayum.

Do newer mini figs have different faces printed on the reverse side of the head?

Yeah, at least quite a lot of them nowadays.

edit: if Forester says it aren't a lot, he's probably more right than me. I'm just going from various episodes of the Brick Show.

Those sets look a lot better then what was showing at that toy fair. Might have to pick a couple up now.

Yeah, the hi-res shots do wonders for the line. I'm really excited about it. Hope these sets lead to a long-running, successful theme.

Fun Lego fact - Professor Quirrell (appropriately) was the first duel sided minifig.

Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie and Headley Lamarr look upon step one.

Day 1: The front (I think)

There was an article/review of the SSD in Brickjournal (the one with space marines on the cover), and they had a nice illustration overlaying plan views of the UCS falcon, SSD and ISD. The falcon is big! Yes the SSD is the longest, but the falcon (and ISD) aren't that much shorter, and they are both a lot wider.

So I broke down and tried some mini figs today. Stopped by Toys R Us and grabbed six. I felt the bags for a second, but had no clue what to look for, so I gambled.

Only one repeat. Not bad for a mostly blind grab. I don't know if I will continue buying them. Some figures would be awesome to have multiples of (Samus clone or the Gray for instance), but others (Statue of Liberty, the genie) are not too awesome to have multiples.

Regarding the LotR LEGO... UCS Minas Tirith plz. 10,000 pieces (at least). kthx

Everyone here would get it. I would be fine if they made it a series. Put out the first tier this year, then a new tier or two every six months to year after that. Spread out the pain, but it would make for one fucking incredible set.

One of the better Minas Tirith MOCs found with a fast google fu attack:

Er, what? He got it on discount because that set was on clearance. K-Mart doesn't sell incomplete LEGO sets (or at least they shouldn't).

In-store minifig theft has become a much bigger problem in the last year or so because LEGO stopped mixing the minifig parts in with all the other pieces and started putting most of them in one big minifig bag, so they're much easier to steal. I have learned to always double check the tape seals on every set I buy.

I bought the recent Millennium Falcon release from Toys R Us and all the figures were missing except for Luke's head and Ben Kenobi's feet. Probably not coincidentally, the TRU employee who found it for me told me it had just been returned that morning, so clearly whoever it was carefully opened it, snagged the figures, and sealed it back up to return for a full refund. I emailed LEGO a list of the parts missing, and they had replacements for all of them out to me inside of a week, and when some of the parts in the replacement pack were the wrong parts, they fixed that quickly, too.

As long as you have the instructions, which have a code number they'll ask you for, you can get any missing pieces from a new LEGO set replaced. They are exceptionally willing to go the extra mile to make sure you get a complete set. Really impressive customer service.

I had this issue with the Death Star, and they have a very easy system. Really hope jerks don't abuse what is pretty much an honor system. Was missing two pieces (just a 1x4 brick and 2x2 plate), and had them within a week.

Just tell LEGO straight up what the situation is (ie. "I bought the Hogwarts on clearance at Walmart but when I opened the box xyz was missing..." ) They'll make it right. There's a reason they are one of the top trusted toy brands in the world.

The box was open in the store and it looked like it had everything except the figures. After bringing it home, I realized that someone had bought it and return it back to the store without figures. The thief was really creative. All the bags with figures had a corner cut small enough to extract the figures. I think they used a heat gun to melt and reseal the plastic bags. They took out all the minifigures, the sorting hat, and all the owls from various bags.

Wow. So you only found out about the figures when you got home. I'm sure if you explained the situation Lego would be able to help out. Seems a rather long winded way to obtain the figurines, but I guess they were desperate for another Harry Potter minifig.

Need them Harry Potter figs. :rolls eyes:

I think someone else already answered this but he didn't get it on discount cause it was missing minifigs, it was because it was on clearance period. It's not like there was a tag that says missing minifigs so take 50% off... The same thing goes for what my coworker did when he bought the set. He didn't know it was missing anything just that Walmart was having a 50% off sale on most older LEGO sets and he lucked out. Nothing shady was going on here on our end at all.

Minifig theft is definitely a problem as when I bought my Star Wars Advent Calendar it was missing the Yoda fig. I just returned the whole item as incomplete to Amazon and got another one.

I agree, LEGO has great customer service this way I hope people don't abuse it either. But then again if people are willing to steal just minifigs from sets I bet plenty of people are abusing the system too. Hopefully LEGO keeps track of customers and their patterns and if they see a single customer getting minifigs over and over and over they stop sending replacements to that person.

I really want to see a pic of that Sopwith Camel.

Also I really hope the Shaun of the Dead LEGO wins so that people will stop fucking tweeting me about it. And I don't care what their community guy says, they will NEVER make it.

The Winchester from Shaun of the Dead is closing in on 10,000 votes.

It would be incredible if something like this were to actually be made.

Looks fun, doubt it will make it though.

I really wish Blizzard could have teamed up with LEGO instead of Mega Bloks... Needless to say some of this stuff does look pretty cool though.

Yeah, the figures are cool but the sets themselves look pretty crappy.

Take a deep breath, Gary. It's gonna be okay. :P

After The Winchester set got me all excited, I haven't been able to find a single other set I really care about. At least not one that has a chance of winning. :(

I would love this SSV Normandy SR-2 set, but yet again it's from a "Mature" rated series so I'm not sure of it's approval likelihood either.
http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/12445#

At least the guy who is pitching this set was nice enough to include a LEGO Digital Designer file so I could buy all the pieces myself. Thankfully they seem to have designed it so that it doesn't need to rely on exclusive stickers or mini-figs.

EDIT: DAMN, that Normandy set is almost 3000 pieces and 70cm long. Perhaps I will rethink building that myself. D:

Haha love it. Boba noooooo!

My intention was that he is the bodyguard for the mayor. Boba and quite a few of my Star Wars figures are actually magnetic. Any time my wife visited Chicago to see her family when we first started dating she bought me a set of the Star Wars Lego fridge magnets. I have been trying to think of some cool stuff I could do with the minifigures and the magnetic bricks I have (more fridge magnets) for funny pics.

Did you rip him out of the 2x4 magnet brick he's glued to?
