I don't want ppl touching my legos. Fuck that.

Hate the Death Star design, played with one before, just too kiddy. I prefer the display items.

My friends play with all my toys when I have parties. I don't mind. It's fun to survey the changes the next morning. I find ewoks 69'ing scout troopers, Aliens playing electric guitar, Sonic hugging Mega Man X, etc.

Now when it comes to my electronics, fuck that.

I want to know how you can make your electronics 69 each other though. Having the output wires going into the others input ports?

Don't invite me to your parties

It is really hard holding myself back from building my Falcon. It is just sitting there mocking me in the corner of my room. All those glorious minifigs echoing two words..."open it".

Damnit weekend hurry up

I bit and bought McQueen to go with Mater =D (It helped that it was almost half price, $23 versus the MSRP of $40 here in Canada)

Almost just bought a Lego Speed Racer set (8160) for $45. I didn't know this even existed...Weird haha. I passed though, since I wouldn't have any use for it. Neat figs though!

Speaking of old and grey, you guys need to give the Death Star a consideration before it goes OOP.

The build reminds me of building Lego castles back in the day. And once you're finished, the playability is insane, especially if you have Star Wars minifigs from other sets.

Bossk in the Throne Room? YES.

It's on my wanted list, I don't really collect star wars lego but I figure that it's a great way to get 99% of the awesome minifigures from star wars in one hit, plus with 2 kids it looks like it has got great play factor for them.

The playability is nice from what I've seen, but I could never justify the price for that set. It's cool and all, but not being a Star Wars set fan and not preferring display over play...

The LEGO store in Bellevue had a terrible Pick-a-brick selection for the MOC I want to start.

Out of the hundreds of types of bricks I needed they only had 3-4 types. And those 3-4 types I only needed a few of each.
They even had one type that I wanted 350+ of, but it was the wrong color!

Not even enough to fill up a tiny cup. :*(

Wonder if any LEGO store applicants have filled a cup with yellow bricks when the drug test question comes round....

McQueen complete! (Unfortunately the printed bricks for McQueen's mouth are off, so Lego is replacing them for me)

McQueen and Mater are both almost identical in scale/size.

The Fire Brigade + Town Hall combo build is well under way. I have the second floor of Town Hall complete and about half the second floor on Fire Brigade complete. I am trying to pace it to where I build the roofs at the same time.

I also made it a little more interesting. I started the second floors on each until they were relatively stable (about one layer on the outer wall), and then put them onto the rest of the building and continued to build off of that. So it looks like the building itself is growing in the time lapse instead of the one floor building and then going on top of the rest of it.

I should finish this weekend and have the video posted by Sunday at the latest.

Thanks for this link, some great ideas there.

My kids had a wooden train table with six plastic bins under it that is now a LEGO table. But six big bins are definitely not enough for sorting, and kneeling on the floor by a short table sucks.

I can't really REALLY organize them while they still play with them, it would all be undone pretty quickly. Some day, though, I'm organizing them like crazy. We have so many now, there's no way you'll ever find that one piece you're looking for.

I have a silly request but I'm in the UK right now and I'm flying back to Canada in a month so and I want to pick up the Fire Brigade since its much cheaper over here. Problem is I don't know if the box will fit.

Can someone please measure the box for me or try fitting it into a standard large suitcase just to see how it fits. Much appreciated :)

@BGBW The minis are really great builds, no? I do wish Lego would put more sets like that out. :) A page earlier, someone posted a link to a mini modular design competition going on at a Lego blog/site. Definitely worth checking out!

That competition page really makes me want to make my own. Really need to go salvage my old legos from my families house.

Problem is now I have sampled a small taste of the modular sets I'm closer to wanting one of the big ones.

Well the one building I like the look of is the Pet Shop so I guess I'm in no hurry to get that one.

Looking over the mini modular contest I'm glad to see so many theatre ideas as that is one building type I'd love to see, though I feel it would be best if they waited till the next corner for that one. Also a police station to go along with the Fire Station.

A nice theater would be really cool. Lots of opportunities for some unique design and detail decisions. A concession stand, projector room, ticketing booth, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if the next modular is a theater...

I was using the LEGO Digital Designer to try and make a mini version of the petshop, but the mini's are incredibly hard to do.

Eventually I found an image on flickr of a guy who made a really great one, but he never responded to my request to post a damn parts list and the photo was only of the front. :(

Trying to make my own really made me appreciate that I don't have a pinky's worth of the creative talent the LEGO designers have.

Build the mini modulars, the VW camper and any one of the big modulars and you'll see at least a few methods to put little details into things that you can reuse.

I'm not a fan of LDD - I just can't get my head around it. Just get some little bricks and play, build some basic shapes and tweak from there.

Yeah, LDD is cool, but has no tactile joy. :)

Exactly. And it is hard to tell if the structure has any integrity in it as well. I like it in theory, but I just cant seem to like it in implementation.

Yeah, also a good point! You can build some grossly unstable designs in LDD and such...I think I'd like to use it more, but I feel like it doesn't really allow full creative-flow. Some people have done some sick MOC's in it though...Limitless piles of bricks does have its advantage!

I just want to say you are all evil. I now have a fire brigade and VW van waiting to be built and a VIP card in my wallet. I already had enough nerd obsessions, why did I have to click on this thread and develop another obsession?
