Also I'm thinking the unthinkable, selling most of my childhood lego, I actually have a fair bit but it's not in the greatest condition. I don't mix them with my new lego and I don't intend to mix it with my daughters and son (when he's old enough).

The child in me thinks of the nostalgia of all those old sets but the realist in me sees them as money I could potentially be spending on new sets.

I definately want to get those 3 and maybe the big jet one, I really want a hulk but I'm thinking I may just keep an eye on bricklink or ebay for a cheap one, the set he comes in is really quite shit and I'd end up getting duplicate thor, hawkeye and loki.

In other LEGO news I bought town hall on ebay for about $20 more than local RRP including postage from Germany, you don't get charged any extra for postage if you order more from him so I also ordered Olivia's House for about 33% off local RRP to put away in the cupboard for my daughters birthday next year and got the little toy story dump truck with Lotso for $12.

The free shipping had me eyeing off the death star too but my wife would kill me and I'd be broke for a year if I did that now....one day.

I also gave my daughter the little Friends purple car wash for easter, which she loves, the car is pretty damn cool actually and I love the colours on it myself :). I bought myself the droid escape set for easter, my first star wars set, mainly for the minifigures, the escape pod is pretty shit to be honest but it was funny when I woke up this morning and found my stormtrooper with his helmet off and with a Friends hairdo on bow in his hair and all...and the Friends minifig with a stormtrooper helmet :)

Anyway, now for the long wait for the Town Hall...I'm tempted to build the fire brigade, cafe corner, green grocer and grand emporium again (pet store is still constructed) to see how they all look together, it's a mammoth task though, it'd probably take me a few weeks.

That dump truck is actually pretty big btw.

In regards to a Hulk minifig, get the (exclusive) free one with Lego S@H during the May promo.

Is that promotion for shop.lego.com too is it? I thought it was just in lego stores (which we don't have any of here in Australia) In some ways I kinda prefer that one over the large one... only problem is the prices on s@h for australia are usually a shitload more than the RRP of other countries, for example I got the modular pet store, superman vs lex, batman vs catwoman, joker mech thing and batman mech thing all for the same price of the local RRP of the pet store alone from a store on bricklink in the US.

Sorting out Lego is a pain in the arse and I have a long long way to go.

I really need to think of a system (doing it very liberally at the moment) and a good set of containers. I picked up a bag of mixed pieces from a jumble sale and now I have all these giant chunky pieces I have no idea what to do with.

Ok, I'm starting to see how shipping costs will greatly affect where I'm buying from. Sometimes very cheap pieces won't matter as much as the store they're from and its location. I already have almost 10 excel archives and this is starting to look like eve online!(nothing wrong with it tho)

I posted a link in my previous post about some guy selling the radar piece at 5 bucks, are there look-alike pieces or lego piracy in some form?

Also, am I crazy for thinking that maybe I should do another project too(like, let's say, AT AT or a SD) and start grouping pieces together because in the end it might be cheaper to pay less shipping altogether?

Finally, is there a fee for ordering using BrickLink? Or it's the same(or cheaper) than ordering directly to the store?

Thanks in advance!

And those Friends line pics:

Olivia continues to be boss! And I love the house. All the little details, just like the modulars have. Although, Olivia gets a toilet, while all modulars the figs have to hold it in.

So far, the other sets that I have also merge together very well into a single cohesive play area if that's what you're into. All the sets function very well together.

When I was at my parent's house for Easter, I asked if they still had my old Lego collection. Not only did they still have it, but it has been added to over the years. I ended up taking home a 30lb plastic container full of thousands and thousands of Legos. Some of it had been broken down into bags, but the majority is loose. There are no instructions and even if there were, many pieces are sure to be missing. Still, I was pretty damn happy to see all those Legos!

Here are some pics I snapped:

I tried to give a sense of scale with my hand in there. The official weight was 33lbs, but that also included the container, so 30lbs of Legos is pretty accurate. There were at least 3 bags full of mini figs and lots loose within as well.

Awesome, can't wait to see my visit my Grandparents this year, they have all my old stuff stored away. Going to be bringing it home and sorting it

Do it in stages. Eg, first just break sets down and dump in a box. Then go through the box and separate out bricks, plates and misc bits into separate boxes/piles. Then take one of those and break it down further.

As to categories, I currently have the following FWIW:

- one large drawer for normal bricks. Divided up into 1x1 and 1x2 together; 1x3 and 1x4 together; 1x6 and longer together; 2x2 and 2x3 together; 2x4 on its own because they are so common; 2x6 and longer together. So 6 compartments in one big drawer holds all 'normal bricks'

- one large drawer for plates. Same basic segregation as bricks, but I have two extra sections for tiles. This drawer only has 1x and 2x plates

- one drawer for larger plates and slopes. Sections for 4x plates; larger plates; wing plates; slope bricks

- one drawer for misc. sections for minifigs; minifigs accessories; large odds and sods. Then lots of little pots holding the small misc bits (cylinder blocks, 1x1 dots, hinges etc). I use the inside of a Lego advent calendar for this

Then I have separate smaller boxes for: house parts (windows, doors, wall panels etc; car pieces (wheels, chassis, windscreens etc); curved slopes

For containers in the uk, really useful bos are good. Get them direct or from staples. The 9 litre are good for general storage, and I just ordered a tower of 7x7 litre boxes for sorting out our Lego better

kids.woot.com has Lego watches with mini-figures for $9.99 each today only. I figure someone here might be interested.

Are upopened boxes of minifigs still in a fixed order and if so is there somewhere that tells you the layout of bags?

Saw Star Wars Bounty Hunter Assault Gunship 7930 on clearance at Walmart for $30 but passed cuz I'm not into Clone Wars and it didn't look that great. Some non-original SW stuff looks cool but this doesn't do anything for me. I wouldn't mind having the Assassin Droid though, and I see this is cheap for the number of pieces (389) so maybe I should pick it up.

Toys R Us.com has the new Marvel sets up for order and in store pick up. Guess I'm stopping by Toys R Us tonight!

My local TRU had them on the shelves when I was there on Saturday. Man were they picked over hahah. Only a few boxes left and they looked like a twister rolled by.

Picked up Wolverine's Chopper Showdown at lunch today. I havent had a chance to build it yet, but I will soon. I can't wait to get some cool pics of Magneto wreaking havoc on some of my other LEGO sets!

Hahhahaha! Someone hid the last Wolverine Chopper set behind all the Loki Cosmic Cube boxes. Guess they knew I wanted it. :)
Mine now!
Almost got the Hulk set, but the Toys R Us tax is too heavy on that one.

Wait until May so you can spend 50 bucks at the LEGO store to get the exclusive Hulk minifig.

Never liked when people did this. :(

That is what made it feel so good to get the last set. To know that I denied some asshat the pleasure of buying it. I hate it when people hide stuff. Just buy it or ask a clerk to hold it. And if they cant hold it, just suck it up and accept it instead of making other customers and the workers' lives harder.

No Lego store in CT. Unless the deal is online as well. And I do want the mini fig, but the super large one as well. Had an idea to use the big Hulk fig and the Wolverine mini fig to recreate this:

About to start the Chopper set. Have a few fun ideas for pics with it. Will post soon.

And will finally finish the modular double build as well.

I just got back from the Lego store with the X-Men Helicopter and the Avenging Cycle. Minifigs aside...I feel like these two lego sets were really weak compared at least to the Batman side of the superhero legos. The motorcycles for both sets are essentially the same, with a different skirt that places over a generic one piece motorcycle frame. The enemy attack vehicle was similarly generic and the helicopter had nothing really noteworthy about it. I mean, I love the mini figures, but I feel like Lego did not take advantage of the license at all and just delivered extremely generic sets with appealing mini-figs. Not so sure I feel compelled to complete the set after these two.

I feel the exact opposite, I much prefer DC and batman but the actual sets from dc were pretty poor, I only picked up the superman and catwoman myself from the main theme.

The marvel avenger sets however look my head better with eye exception of the hulk one, a cool little chopper, pickup and a huge jet thing. I'll be getting most of those if I can and I think the avengers will be shit, whedon is a hack.

I loved this image at the back of the X-Men instruction book:

And now for me wasting my evening instead of finishing the modulars.

Yes, I LOVE the new Deadpool figure. I can tell I am going to have a lot of fun with it.

I'm waiting on the Hulk set until May. Lego Shop @ Home and the Lego stores are doing a thing where if you spend $50 you get an exclusive Lou Ferrigno Hulk figure.

So it works online as well? Sweet! Will order the set then. I dont really like the Hulk Escape set, but I love the huge figure.

You do realize that you now have to do a stop motion animation of Magneto assembling the buildings, right?

I considered doing that as I built the set, but I didn't have the time tonight.

I seriously am thinking of doing some stop motion films with the mini figures now. Maybe even busting out my Technic Master Race figure to shake things up.

Is there a list somewhere for the parts that are not seen/hidden in the finished UCS so if all else fails I can switch their colors? Thanks in advance!

Not really.

I just did some homework and followed some of what other people have done themselves. The Eurobrick forum has a star wars set section with a few meaty threads about the UCS Falcon. People discussing prices, piece substitutions, even building it in different colors.

http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showforum=86

The only real trouble you should run into with internal pieces are the dark bluish gray 1x16 technic beams and yellow right angle technic pieces. The 2476b pieces were also getting hard to find in white for me, but they're all hidden and pretty easy to just get in dark or light bluish gray anyways. A lot of the Falcon is made up of common and cheap pieces, it's just that there's a lot of them.

people might be able to fake parts, but it might just be a scam for a popular part. People here were tempted by cheap UCS sets not too long ago.

There's no fee for anything on bricklink. You'd only see fees on the seller end for using paypal to accept payments.

Not really.

Presumably you could use any 1x16 technic beams, they'd all be hidden? And for the right angle pieces, could you use two normal short 1x beams, and join them with something like http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=55615?

Yup, fine print says "Free Hulk Minifigure with a $50 purchase. Offer valid May 16-31 at Lego stores and at SHOP.LEGO.COM. While supplies last."

Same thing with the TC-14 Chrome Figure, except it's a $75 Star Wars Lego purchase from May 4-6.

I actually just opened a bricklink selling account and they apparently do charge fees. Much less than ebay though.

Hmm...exclusive Star Wars figure sounds nice, but the Hulk one is cooler. And I am still need to figure out if I can splurge early next month. Waiting until mid month for the Hulk promotion might be easier on my wallet.

Lol love the Deadpool comics, great job

Thank you. Plan on doing a lot of things like that.

I finished building Loki's truck. It's a nice off-road truck that could easily fit into a city theme.

Very nice. I want the Loki and Iron Man figs, but not keen on the Hawkeye one. Think the Quinjet will be the one I get to get Loki, Iron Man, and my Thor figure. And at least it is a cheap set that gives me a Cap figure.

There's actually 2 different Iron Man figures. He wears a different suit in the Loki and Quinjet sets.

Clever girls...

The last 2 May the 4th events had free shipping as part of the celebration. I'm hoping they continue the trend this year.

May 2011: http://brickset.com/news/article/?ID=1253

May 2010: http://brickset.com/news/article/?ID=634

Oh, man. If it is free shipping that weekend, I will bite on a big set. Bastards. I love them.
