Any tips/help with LEGO painting? I'm not going to pay $120 for the two bley boat mast riggings and I'm thinking about paiting a couple of black ones. If successful I might paint A LOT more pieces...

IMO, black would look fine and appropriate. Maybe even better than bley.

But I agree if you find a nice painting method, sell the shit out of it :)

Thanks! What I wanted to say was that if the painting works, I might paint other pieces too, like the red ones, or this elusive little bastards:

I'm thinking about it because shipping costs are going to destroy me. Most of the times a $0.01 piece will cost 14x as much with shipping involved.

those levers are too small to notice that they aren't light bluish gray. I'm fine with the light gray levers I got, and they cost me a little over $5 total. I also bought black levers with light bluish gray bases just in case the other color looked bad, and I would have just swapped the black levers for the light gray ones I already had. I got 62 of those for $1.24.

Series 7 minifigs were out at Toys R Us. Also found that Batman bag as well.

I suck at feeling though the bags, so I didn't find a space marine. :( Did find the Evil Knight though!

Red Riding Hood and the easter bunny figure are also pretty cool, my son was real excited about getting the bunny.

Started building the pet shop today with my son. I'm doing the house, he's doing the shop. Just finished the first floor and I'm really enjoying it. Bags are numbered and because each house is effectively half size, the piecs are much more manageable. And I finally have some plastic tubs to dump each bag into, which helps a lot.

The basement is weird - you spend quite a few steps building a floor, then entirely cover it up with plates so you can't see it, except for a little trap door. Lots of nice touches like the spiral staircase, front steps and a fantastic toilet and telephone

Picked this up at neighborhood rummage sale for $5. I thought it was a Hero Factory, but don't see it in that lineup. Anyone know what it is?

Vinyl Dye used for car interiors is your best bet, I used it to make the camo batmobile tumbler. It comes in spray cans. It's not perfect however and no matter what paint or dye you use it will still scratch off if you try hard enough.

Feeling for the marine is actually pretty easy. He by far tr bulkiest of the series. My coworker and I went through 2 boxes at toys r us yesterday very quickly just setting aside the bags that felt bulkier. Then we confirmed which were actual marines. We found two. The other ones that feel kind of bulky are the bride the Poseidon like guy. But they have unique bottom halves so you should be able to differentiate them. Once you find the marine you will know as the bag seriously bulges way more than the others.

After putting together the Batman/Catwoman and the Capt America motorcycle sets, I grabbed more Batman sets. I'm on the hunt for the Batman Funhouse escape now. That is the last set I need.

Lots to assemble, but it's WoW night with the wife tonight. Perhaps I'll do the Avenger sets tomorrow night while we watch Iron Man 2. (We're doing all the Marvel lead in films prior to the Avengers movie)

I've decided to limit my Lego collecting to just the Super Hero sets from here on out. Btw, the Quinjet is huge. It looks like it is going to be a fantastic build with a ton of small details and play areas.

Oh my god. I think that deadpool pic with the bunny ears has sold me on finding that one haha awesome

Well, I know I will be hunting down the bunny figure now. Thanks.

Haha. As soon as we opened that one and my son was excited about it, I was already thinking how great that bunny ears helmet was going to be.

Awesome, thanks I'm hoping to put that to good use.

I made these pics of an Oxford Hello Kitty set. Oxford bricks are very high quality. Much better than the usual construction blocks you can find that is not LEGO.

Perhaps people might be more familiar with Sluban. Their Military sets are near identical copies of the Oxford Military sets (licensed design or stolen?), but it's very obvious Sluban bricks are of much lower quality than Oxford. Maybe I'll post comparison pics in the future. Unfortunately Oxford seems to be sold only in South Korea, but I found one seller on eBay (kitaechan).

The Hello Kitty minifigures have normal bodies (Darth Vader looks smaller than he really is. His body is really the same size as the Hello Kitty body), but their heads are so proportionally big that they're hard to balance without being pegged down on studs.

So my love of F1 got the better of me today and I picked up a mega bloks probuilder grand prix car for 20$. I'm actually kind of surprised by the quality of the pieces. Nowhere near as good as Lego but much better than I remember. I still feel kind of shameful though ;-)

Maybe you should try out Cobi's line of F1 sets and report back to us on their quality :P

Kre-O sets sold by Hasbro are actually made by Oxford.

Ok, if you had a choice of only one, which would it be?

Grand emporium
Fire brigade
Pet shop

I'm thinking the fire brigade, but might change it to the pet shop.

Any input on this? :)

Fire Brigade because it is going to disappear soon. You have another year or so for Grand Emporium, and maybe another 2 for Pet Shop.

OK, I've never bought anything off of Bricklink before and I finally finished my wishlist of parts for the MOC Mass Effect Normandy I want to build.

I did Query Stores and it did add the pieces to the store I clicked on, but it added a bunch of duplicates for some reason. There will be 4 of one piece in a row followed by 2 of another.

Since the stores only show 10 pieces a page this is making it take FOREVER to get all the pieces into the cart.

Does anyone know if this is just a per store bug, or does it happen a lot? Can I get the store to display more than 10 per page somehow?

Well I went to the LEGO store at Crabtree and picked up the Hoth Set. I was going to get the Space Shuttle, but wanted to continue my Star Wars sets.

I made a couple things, GAF. The Technic propeller plane, and a Lego Friends design studio.

The more I see the ultra-thin girl characters, the more I think they're hateful.

Oh, and I added machine guns to my plane, from the Anakin Pod Racer. They would shoot off the propeller, but it needed guns.

Takanuva when he was hopped up on Shadow energy and growth hormone, to be exact.

So I heard that if I buy 50 bucks of stuff from Lego in May I get a Hulk minifig. Can anybody confirm that?

Imperial Shuttle is on sale again at Amazon for $235. Might be the last time it goes on sale before going out of print.

Dear Everyone,

Buy this set. Truly a fantastic display piece.

oh no, I just bought Black Pearl, my wife is going to kill me lol

No, she wont. Just explain the nature of OOP Lego sets. That is how my wife has not killed me yet when I got all these sets right in a row.

EDIT: I am trying to make something in Lego Digital Designer. Why must the brick search tool be so damn slow? I want to use the program since it is unlimited bricks, but it just feels soulless when trying to design a MOC.

Heck, they need to make a Kinect compatible version for Mac/PC. Or at least give us a tablet version of LDD.

Fire Brigade should be OOP very soon. You probably have another year with MF since it just came out last year.

cool, looks like I have to convince my wife lol

btw which small Star Wars set is cheapest to get the major characters? like Droid Escape has C3PO and R2, Luke? Darth? etc...

You're gonna have to get the MF if you want all the OT main characters in one set.

If you just want Luke, Obi and the droids, go to Walmart and search for this $25 set:

The Advent Calendar is clearanced at TRU for $20 if you can find it. It comes with 8 figures.

Check out the Lego 'cool cruiser', it has a secondary build of an f1 car which was the main reason I bought it.

That city layout is fantastic. Check this guy's Flickr out for crazy awesome skyscrapers ( he just did the new world trade centre) - http://www.flickr.com/photos/51130204@N04/
