I also picked up my Level 3, Kit 7 MBA set, which should be a fun little build (or builds, since these kits have variations) and it will hook up to kits 8 and 9 modular-style.

One haul to rule them all...

Have Gandalf Arrives, Shelob, and Weathertop arriving later this week. Picked up The Urukai Army and Helm's Deep today, and put them together.

Overall, I have to say that they were a bit repetitive to build. Lots of walls, and similar builds. Looks nice when done though. One plus, the Helm's Deep set is modular, you can put it together in a whole bunch of ways, and the Castle wall from the Urukai Army is built with modular connections so you can put it in with the Helm's Deep set just fine.

Painstaking recreation of the Helm's Deep battle. I can vouch for it's authenticity.

Found this for four bucks at a thrift store - everything seems to be there, although if it's missing some pieces I sure as hell couldn't tell (some were still in bags too).

Reminds me a lot of an old Technic helicopter I had as a kid (8856, apparently) in terms of rotor control and the like:

You lucky buggers with your thrift stores. Will never find such good bargains.

Saw a naughty Smith's employee today. He obviously knew the customer is front of me and gave him an extra Lego set. If the demand is as high as the web seems to indicate he really should be giving away bonus sets to his buddies.

can't wait until they release a Minas Tirith set that's nothing more than a couple walls and a tower and I have to buy about 8 of them just to build a halfway decent representation :P

i'm perfectly fine with it taking up my entire (large) kitchen table.

I will, my fire brigade looks so lonely...

also time to moc my own modular soon. I will disassemble all other sets one of these days and see where the ride takes me :)

Yeah I want to make a bar for my stormtroopers to relax, but I don't dare break down my modulars yet... not without a good plan.

The Town Hall is definitely my favourite modular set so far, just edging the Fire Brigade. It's just so cool having a crowd of minifigs in front of it. Having severe space issues now though, had to take half the Pet Shop out so I could fit it on the shelf it's currently residing on.

Ha! Nice job getting all those! Now you can have an entire Boar Knight army!
What set is that worried face from?

Well I wasn't trying to get that many. I kept going for the space marine and the chest piece would screw me up I think.

The worried face is from this guy.

All this talk of big sets and all I have is a tiny racecar polybag to keep me company at work. I don't even have scissors to open it with!

I'm so tempted to buy helm's deep... but argh! I also want to buy Jabba's palace soon and a few monster sets...
I also feel the pull of Jabba's Palace and Vampyre Castle.... it is difficult. But my LotR comes first!

Goddamn, that Helm's Deep set looks amazing. I must have it!

I won't be able to afford it for months -_-

Even though I am a little disappointed at the general simplicity of of it since it is a playset, not quite to a relative scale, and some shortcuts taken in the accuracy, I understand the choices. Of course we all still hate the overuse of stickers lately in all sets. /sigh

But yes! I think Helm's Deep is a set worth saving towards and getting.

Very much agreed. UCS all of the major locations. I don't care if that means sinking $300+ into each one! Let's not think about what the total costs would end up being. I don't care, though my wallet and other expenses might, but it would be great to see.

I hope this first batch of sets sees enough support so that Lego hopefully can feel confident to create subsequent LotR sets with more detail and care for the license as they have done with Star Wars over the years. Dreaming big.

yea charity shops are always a special kind of treat when im in the UK,
Last visit I bought a total of 78 used hardbacks at various charity shops xD
didn't have any luck finding LEGO though.

Books and clothes are common as muck in charity stores. You might even be lucky and find a few good games. But LEGO is basically an impossibility.

I just bought the Hazmat Guy! WOO. Such a babe, he is.

Now, to up the ante a bit from minifigs, I found a place in Europe that's willing to ship The Malevolence for 175AUD. Tempted, but also apprehensive, as I'm unsure as to what it will go for when it hits Australia.

They seem to be burning up the charts from what I can tell. They have some tough competition from other sets though. Avengers is such a huge worldwide hit that those sets are doing really well (helping boost sales for Wolverine's chopper, I'm sure), then there's Ninjago which is a huge hit with kids and the new girl Friends sets seem to be popular too... I think if LEGO releases more sets around the time of The Hobbit they should easily be LEGO's #1 seller.

I think I'm going to order a funhouse before it disappears off shop.lego.com... i want those minifigs >.< But I still need an additional $10 minimum worth of product to make it $50 for the free Hulk. What should I buy :P

Have they never done Star Trek LEGO? Why not? There are some nice ships in there. I hope they'll consider it when the new film comes out...

Kre-o has the Star Trek license right now.

Oh crap...as much as I would love to see it I am almost afraid of it if it ever came true. I wouldn't have enough room to put them all

Curses! Don't remind me about still wanting all of the current Batman sets, have not been able to get any of them yet.

As for an extra set, do you already have Gandalf Arrives? ;)

And Star Trek Lego would be tasty too. But since there are already plenty of things I want to get, I am in no rush for new licensed themes to make the list longer.

I bought the complete Series 3 minifig set off eBay for $60 yesterday. I'm getting really into the minifigs lately, so I'm pretty excited to get a bunch of these old ones.

Still haven't seen any LotR sets in stores, but I'm probably gonna buy a couple of the smaller ones once I finally encounter them. Shelob Attacks looks pretty great.

The title of this image is "LEGO: The Addiction Continues"
I do not own any of the minifigures so I thought I'd sample some.
That shipping and tax really hurts when you are used to amazon. But since both of the sets ordered are "hard to find" and not available on amazon at MSRP I guess it's worth it.

I have Gandalf Arrives! Love it :D :D I almost went with a monster set... but I'm positive I can get those on amazon soon so I'm not worried. And yeah, I'm not big on Star Trek but I'd definitely get the Enterprise (2009 film version), i love that ship!
Kre-o has the Star Trek license right now.
Are Kre-o blocks compatible with LEGO? Some of their sets look okay, and they are cheaper than LEGO (though the quality of the pieces look like they might be lesser).

Started putting Weathertop together this morning. I have to stop, as I have to go to work, but it's a really fun build so far! It's great seeing everything come together. I don't know if it's worth $60 - I definitely think that $50 would've been a sweet spot - but I can't say I regret paying that much for it. Aragorn and two Ringwraiths, plus a cool little structure, I certainly don't feel ripped off.

It's $10 overpriced I fully agree. But it's such a cool set I bought it anyway :/ Glad you like it.

Decided to put my Quinjet together while watching the Giants game last night. I like it a lot actually. On Wednesday, my other sets will be arriving so I'll probably figure out where I'll put everything.

Now, the only thing I desire is proper hair for Hawkeye & Black Widow... the hair is so bad for both of those figures...

^I kinda wish they'd included an Agent Coulson figure with that set (and Maria Hill and Nick Fury with the Hulk Helicarrier Breakout set).

Hopefully they come out with subsequent sets, would like to have the ginormous Helicarrier set with them in it. Actually... What if the Hulk Helicarrier Breakout set was only part of an eventual Helicarrier set and all you'd have to do is just insert it? I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Now I have to scour for a minifig that has at least Hawkeye's spikey hair...

Did you pick that up in store? They aren't available here in the UK, but I grabbed the first when in the US recently.

The Level 3 MBA kits look to be a muscular design with Castle theme influences. Do these sets also have three different building options like the past MBA sets?

Oh this is the first real bit of Lego I've found at a thrift store in years (if ever). Well, I have seen the odd random bag of Lego pieces, but they've always been small and overpriced and I've never bothered purchasing them.

I'm going to guess someone just screwed up on pricing new donations the day that helicopter came in. Even if it is missing enough pieces that it cannot be built, it's got some fantastic connectors in there.

They are compatible which is a big plus. I think all the Transformer ones are on clearance at Toys R Us right now. Totally worth it for the mini figs =)

Man. That looks so nice and it makes me want to pick up all of the Marvel sets to have the full Avengers roster. D:

The set connects to Kit 8 (The Forbidden Bridge) and Kit 9 (The Dark Lair).

I have only had a chance to gloss over the manual, but it seems like they are going in a different direction for these sets. The book sets up a storyline, which will continue over the next two kits. The main build, or "star model" is the one on the cover, which will connect with the other two in a modular style to form one larger scene. However, there are alternate "springboard models" (a door, stairs and a drawbridge) which will then connect to the alternate "springboard" models in the other kits to form completely different adventure scenes. It looks like these springboard models can be mixed and matched. I'm not 100% clear on how this all works, but I will take a closer look tonight. What I did see interested me more than the previous kits had.

I got this through my MBA subscription via LEGO S@H.
