speaking of modulars, the first floor is shaping up too.
needs more detail really, but im running out of suitable bricks, all the creator cars dont really help when building a house... ;)
so I will have to buy more houses.... -.-

Looking good so far, but the clock looks out of place to me.

I am looking at the architecture sets and they look nothing like what they are ment to be. For the price the detail is to abstract for my tastes

This is probably a stupid question, but what is the "Lego Master Builder Academy"?

From the LEGO Club Site & LEGO wikia...

The mission of the LEGO Master Builder Academy program is simple: “Take Your Building to the Next Level”. And what do we mean by that? We want to help you use the expertise and official techniques of the real LEGO Master Builders to discover how to create better, stronger and cooler-looking models that you design all by yourself!

LEGO MBA will be a multi-level LEGO training experience. You know how in martial arts like karate, there are different colored belts that signify a level of achievement and rank? LEGO MBA will be like that too, with multiple levels of achievement. Each level has its own special color, but instead of a belt, you’ll receive a new exclusive MBA Minifigure in the color of the latest building skill level that you’ve achieved!

when is the present promo on the Lego store going to last?

June 1st till the 31st.

Excavator has been REORDERED (to fix the issue I had). Free shipping + Mini Sopwith promo + VIP points = $175 with tax. I'll take it!

Now for the wait. -_-

Ah....so it's a sign-up program for kids. Sounds interesting. I'm going to register my eldest daughter.

It's what the quote posted above said, but it's also a subscription-based thing (I think the first one is $60-70?) where you get a new kit/book each month or two based around a certain thing (cars/robots/etc). Each set builds three models detailed in the book, and the book also provides tips on how to do certain things when building your own stuff. It's a pretty cool idea, geared toward older kids, I guess. My son digs them, though he's let a backlog build up and I may have to open one myself if he doesn't get on the ball...

I was thinking the same thing. Posted an attempt at the tower earlier in the thread.

Would have to think of an alternative for the gold tools though.

Didn't see this - that's pretty much what I'm going to try. If its just 4 wide it'll be too short, so need to make it about 7 bricks taller too

Just got home with the Quinjet, X-Wing and TIE Fighter. Also got the mini TIE Interceptor/Death Star and 5 minfiigs (including 3 Computer Programmers!). Should be a fun Bank Holiday.

My Walmart had the Harry Potter Castle on clearance from $130 to $70. For anyone interested, you may check out your local Wally World.

WARNER BROS. INTERACTIVE ENTERTAINMENT, TT GAMES
AND THE LEGO GROUP REBUILD MIDDLE-EARTH BRICK BY BRICK WITH LEGO® THE LORD OF THE RINGS™

Join the Fellowship and Experience the The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
As Never Before in the Latest Family-Friendly LEGO® Videogame Adventure

Burbank, Calif. – June 1, 2012 – Explore Middle-earth in an epic and thrilling LEGO videogame adventure for the entire family! Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games and The LEGO Group today announced LEGO® The Lord of the Rings™, the latest addition to the wildly successful LEGO videogame series that brings to life the legendary fantasy saga by J.R.R. Tolkien. The game will be available for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 system, the Wii™ system, the Nintendo DS™ hand-held system, the Nintendo 3DS™ hand-held system, PlayStation®Vita system and PC in fall 2012.

LEGO The Lord of the Rings is based on The Lord of the Rings motion picture trilogy and follows the original storylines of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Now the entire family can team up in pairs as adorable LEGO The Lord the Rings minifigures to experience countless dangers, solve riddles and battle formidable foes on their journey to Mount Doom.

“We are huge aficionados of The Lord of the Rings franchise and are incredibly excited to put our special LEGO family-friendly touch on this classic fantasy adventure,” said Tom Stone, Managing Director, TT Games. “We’ve taken what fans are familiar with and love about The Lord of the Rings films and combined it with the playful LEGO style, which makes the story and gameplay accessible to gamers of all ages.”

LEGO The Lord of the Rings takes players along on the adventures of Frodo Baggins and his unlikely fellowship as they set out on a perilous journey to destroy The One Ring and save Middle-earth. Kids, tweens, teens and parents can traverse the Misty Mountains, explore the Mines of Moria, knock on the Black Gate of Mordor, and partake in epic battles with Orcs, Uruk-hai, the Balrog and other fearsome foes while harnessing the humor and imagination of LEGO gameplay to solve puzzles and explore Middle-earth. Players will take on the form of their favorite members of the fellowship – Frodo the Hobbit, Aragorn the Ranger, Gandalf the Wizard, Legolas the Elf, Gimli the Dwarf, Boromir a Man of Gondor, and Frodo’s Hobbit friends Sam, Merry and Pippin – as they relive the most momentous events from the films.

Developed by TT Games, the LEGO The Lord of the Rings further expands on the partnership between LEGO and Warner Brothers, who recently launched the brand new LEGO® The Lord of the Rings toy collection. The line includes seven construction sets, such as The Battle of Helms Deep!

LEGO store today! Hoping to pick up Sopwith Camel, UCS R2 and Big Ben. Maybe the free mini Camel if they have it. Anything else I should be looking out for? I have no interest in LOTR or Avengers sets.

You can also get the Minifigure beach set to go with the Seaside house and the Kingdoms Chess Set.

Urgh. Why must they do free shipping now? Must not spend money!

Although, I do have $50 worth of VIP points I could use. It is weird, I want to keep accumulating them and then go for an insane set. But, using them now when I am strapped for money does allow me to get something now instead of later. And $50 off a set is a pretty nice discount anyways. Was aiming to get it up to $100 or so before cashing in, but that might be a long time. Like not until after next double VIP or after the new year.

What does LegoGAF think?

Honestly, $5 now is the same as $20 later since you have to spend the money to get there. I cashed in on my $35 for my Excavator I just bought today. I wanted to save up as well, but I figured why not. :P

Free shipping only comes once in a while, too. May as well jump!

It makes ultimately no difference financially, it's just psychological. Go and buy something.

You gotta spend them on something, I'd use it for something you feel's a bit over priced though, that would be my only advice.

The Minecraft set comes to mind...

Shit, now I'm thinking of spending mine!!!

Do you want something now? If so buy it. If not, wait. But as others have said i don't think it makes financial sense to build up points. But then if building up points makes you happy, do that.

When was that special with the Helm's Deep and Orc Army happening? I might bite on that.

The original plan was to get up to $100 or more and use it towards the SSD to make it bearable. But that would take forever to get to, and still have yet to convince my wife about that set. That or a free modular. :)

But thanks, everyone. Think next week's paycheck (with time and a half pay for working Memorial Day) will be put towards Sopwith Camel or Shuttle Expedition. Get a nice $100 set for half price. That sounds nice.

going to lego store after work, funny thing growing up my family could only afford to get me one set of legos and that huge box of legos lasted me till high school. Now i'm probably pissing away 10x the amount that one box costed.

holly shit this was the box i owned as a kid

Got my Sopwith Camel (and mini-Camel), along with a bunch of other sets - June haul pics later!

I've been following the thread regarding group CMF pickups (which I would participate in, if I didn't have them already) and I was wondering if we could setup some sort of program for the upcoming London Olympics CMF theme?

These are only going to be available from UK retailers, starting July 1st. If a UK GAF'er (or GAF'ers) would be willing to send a full set my way, it would be definitely be appreciated (and I would rather set up a network through GAF than go through Briicklink). I am sure other members of this group would also be interested...

Don't hate me, but I'm more excited for the Mini Sopwith than I am for the full size one. And I'd love to see a minifig scale Sopwith.

I about to hit up the Lego Store in Santa Clara. My wallet is fearful.

Wait. Are those lots of rubber bands I see on the underside? Hype diminished. It makes sense considering how the model works, but it still disappoints me.

I'm more disappointed by the 'cable' going over the top of the wings. Just ugly. Still bought it though.n

You should get the shuttle first though, much better looking model IMO

Well, now I am going between the Shuttle, VW Camper (it is so universally loved), or mini modulars. I have about a week to decide. Going nuts and getting the last modular I need (Pet Shop) is out of my price range though.
