Down the rabbit hole I go...
Damn you, Lego GAF. Damn you.

I am sorry. I am so very, very sorry.

Stoked about ordering the Fire Brigade, I decided to try out the last variation of the cool convertible set - the loader. My daughter wanted to help out.

Way more fun with everything in one big pile - the hunt is the best part.

Don't much care for the loader, though. I think I'll just rebuild into the stock convertible so I have fewer loose pieces around.

Very fitting, I'm just wrapping up season 4, Journey's End, at this very moment.

Allow me to give you a new drinking game idea: Anytime David Tennant says "I am sorry." you have to take a shot. Have the hospital on speed dial.

Anyways, pics!

My minifigure haul for the day.

HULK NOT HAPPY!

REMEMBER WHEN HULK PROMISED HE WOULD KILL YOU LAST? HULK LIED!

Custom drum kit I threw together in a few minutes tonight, using nothing but pieces from 80s Space System sets. Complete with rotating chair to get to all the hits!

I have been working on a new modular street riot idea tonight since I now have a third building. The mini figures are spreading! I will post pics this weekend once I assemble the scene. But let's just say that Hulk drumming figures into the narrative!

That's a great drum kit, especially just thrown together.

Did you hear anything about the job?

No call back in a month. Bummer. I called back to follow up, and nothing. Oh, well. I am used to defeat over the last few years of trying to escape my current job. It will happen one day. Really, I just need to hold out another year or two until my wife finished getting her PhD, then I will have a sugar mama!

I think I'm gonna go to Target tomorrow and see if I can grab a small Tupperware container for some of my bricks and to see if I can get some more series 7 mini-figs. I want the rock star and the space marine.

Buy the Target brand (called Up and Up now) resealable containers. They are dirt cheap for a ton of them, and they sell packs with a variety of sizes. The best ones are the squared off ones that are pretty shallow. The footprint is larger, but it is easier to sort through the pieces.

Been looking all the modular sets. But one sticks out, http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=10190-1, what's the story behind this one? Why is it market as a "Factory" set.

Fan designed, then marketed. It was the second set after Cafe Corner. It is officially a modular, but to some (like me) it is not really one. Not a fan of it.

Cafe Corner looks hot, but has no interior detail. Green Grocer was the first modular to do crazy interior detail. I want both Cafe and Grocer, but wont pay those nuts prices for them or bricklink them. I am fine with just the stuff in print from now on.

Yea, I was thinking the Target brand, but I said the name brand instead. Either way my little plastic baggie is getting a bit full and that's not including Fire Brigade.

Also, the Landspeeder was a bit disappointing. The set felt...cheap. Maybe it's an older set and they updated the brick quality.

I keep a set or two of the Target brand containers empty at all times and use them when I get new sets. I just empty the bags into them. It allows me to quickly and easily stash the bricks when I stop for the day and get them out of kitty reach. Also allows me to easily sort through the pieces while building.

Fan designed? Does that mean that the "Factory" imprint is the precursor to Cuusoo?

'fan designed' helps me mentally justify not getting it :)

Green grocer is more affordable than cafe corner, but I think it doesn't fit well in a street with pet shop - both have similarities (shop with house next door and bay windows), but they are quite different in design and scale and that seems a bit off to me. Hence my potential plan to buy a second pet shop and turn the shop into a green grocer, maybe steal some ideas like the cool fire escape

Been lurking in this thread for a while, and as others have said, it's been very bad for my wallet. I really loved that chibi AT-AT that someone posted a while back, so much so that I decided to make my own. I used the orginal's pics as reference and built my own with the Lego designer. It took a while to have the parts I needed shipped from Bricklink to Japan, but I finally finished and wanted to show him off.

There were no pics of the back, so I worked out something on my own that I thought matched the original creator's style. I also added some structural support to the body, because the original fell apart pretty easily. I'm really happy with the results.

I spent some time on my custom minifigs tonight, I'm not happy with most of them but I'll see what you guys think...

First up is the Peter Venkman, the issue with him is...
I printed his face too large compared to a normal minifig, so he looks weird and by making it bigger it lessens the look of his large forehead\ receding hairline. I am going to take the decal off and print it again smaller.

My order from Brickforge (custom lego accessory site) arrived though with my PKE meter, some little walkie talkies (seen above). Here's a shot of Egon holding the PKE meter to show you the detail.

Next up was the joker... A few issues with him...
first issue is the white showing along top of his torso\neckline :(. On top of that the striped trouser pattern I tried just didn't work, I printed on white decal paper and the colour just didn't match the lego colour, I'm gonna take another shot using clear decal paper and just printing the stripes.

Finally is probably the best one so far, and I didn't do any of the decal designs for this one...Bane!

bane.jpg

No real issues with him that I can immediately see but there's a few things I wanted to try, first up is I ordered one of these tactical vests in Dark Tan from minifig cat (another custom lego accessory site) When it arrives I'll do a comparison to get people's opinions of which is better, the vest of the decal as seen above.

I also am thinking about (but not sure yet) modelling bane's headpiece\mask in Maya and using a 3D print site like shapeways to get it printed out and use it on a light flesh coloured head with a custom eyes\face decal of my own design, what do you guys think?

Lastly a little something for those who read my entire post :P

...I wish I had space to always have it exposed all together like this. :/ I'll need to clear this table soon.

My Müller haul from yesterday's 20% off, their selection was not all that interesting...

I got this a few days ago 50% off in a supermarket (Actually 50% is credited in store for future purchases so in the end it will cost 15€). Haven't built it, though.

A couple of days ago, I received my first ever catalogue in the mail and it came with a promo code. I tried last night to order the Helm's Deep collection to get the double VIP points, but it kept rejecting my promo code. And then somebody else here posted that LEGO.com is having some trouble with this particular promo working on the website. Then I noticed that there were links on the LEGO.com home page pointing to the double VIP deal, even without having to input a promo code, so it seems as though you don't even need a promo code to get the deal. So my question is what is the purpose of having a special promo code when you can still get the same deal without the code? Is there any advantage to these promo codes that I'm not aware of?

I bought the Log Cabin Creator set today even though I haven't put together Fire Brigade. I have a problem. D:

I'm gonna disassemble Wolverine's Chopper and the Heli-Carrier sets today since I don't really "play" with them.
