That is true, but let's not encourage Lego to charge for VIP Membership. Free is good!

And after some searching it seems VIP started in stores in 2009 and was added to S@H in 2010. Still not sure how many VIP sets there have been though. The regular "Exclusive" series gets mixed up in the results too.

I know how that goes. I have no vacation to plan for this summer, so I am hoping to get some sets.

My son is starting really get into The Hulk so he picked this out. Can't say I was too impressed with it but he likes it so whatever. The mini Sopwith was actually kind of fun to put together.

Starting on the Mini-Modular. Surprisingly satisfying build. I'm impressed with how the hotel came together.

Weakness is definitely one of my virtues.

I pulled the trigger on a few HP sets since the license is ending. I think I got them at pretty reasonable prices:

Hagrid's Hut (4738) - $32.78
Quidditch Match (4737) - $16.76
Hogwarts Castle (4842) - $106.58

I've been wanting to make a trip to the Wizarding World theme park, so my HP fandom is pretty high :P (would much rather have Tolkien theme park... maybe someday)
 
I posted the idea for a cafe sign as part of a balcony before:


But it is way too large. So I set about making a smaller sign to go above the door of my MOC:


The issue is that it is 9 studs wide. I try and get it down to 8, but cannot get the spacing right on the ends. The 9 stud width is the only way I get it looking good, but that will be harder to make centered on the front of a building.

Ideas?

Perhaps try using a couple of these? First thing that came to mind. Surely there are other options.

Eh, replace the black "planks" with multiple smaller planks. Making it turnable might need some tweaking to bottom though.
 
So I finished 8081 Extreme Cruiser's A model. WOW. That was SO fun. Technic has won me over! I have the Excavator coming this week sometime, but I may have to grab the Supercar soon, too. :-X

It isn't turntable. I just used thick black planks to hold it to get spacing and set it down to take the pic. The planks will be smaller for sure.

And as for using jumpers, it would still be off slightly. Still working on it.
 
Man, those Minecraft sets look like they would be a lot of fun if you had several sets.. kind of building your own Minecraft world in Lego.. but that'd cost a fortune to get enough sets to actually do anything worthwhile..

That is a lovely looking set, especially for Technic. The Excavator is a good place to go from there, as - and I cen tell you from experience - a 2000+ piece Technic set such as the Unimog does get to you. The finished product makes it all right in the end, though.

I still haven't looked at the instructions on this....couldn't you bricklink/PAB most of this for cheaper?

The larger sets definitely seem to have a special challenge associated with them. I am a bit concerned with the difficulty in MOC'ing as it takes a very different mindset. I'm excited though!

I am amused at how this turned out. And I know it just takes time playing around a bit, I still wanted to share mine. So you all can laugh at the random brick choices. :D

Came up with two options in there. And I made it be 11 studs wide to match what you showed us earlier. Might think of more....

Got my shipment the other day. Dynamic Duo funhouse and Shelob. Got the Hulk minifig and LOTR poster. Shelob is great!! so nuch articulation and the web works well. Really happy with that one.

Barely have any room in my messy bedroom so I had to destroy my Helicopter from the X-Men set and the Jeep from Avengers. Having all those extra pieces let my imagination run wild though, and I made a tiny minibike for my little mad scientist. Why didn't I get into this shit as a kid instead of an adult? I love this stuff!
 
Hopefully my Fire Brigade arrives before OT comes back - should have pictures and impressions to post by then.

And I may have already ordered the grand emporium by then too. Damn you all.
 
I finished building the Fire Brigade a few hours ago and I enjoyed it. I loved how the kitchen came together. The "1932" sign was awkward as hell to put together, but kinda cool at the same time.

That said, I've learned a bit from my first modular. Never have I built anything of this size/magnitude. Next time, I'm going to sort my bricks my color ahead of time and work on a large flat surface. Especially since it took me damn near 2 hours to make the fire engine finding small pieces.

Although I post more pics and such to Instagram via my phone...Which is also nicoga3000. I'll follow those who post anything there as well.
 
Lego help line told me the Helm's Deep Orc Army combo doesn't come with double VIP, but the other combos do. Weird, since there's a link on the front page saying double VIP points that goes to that set. But at least my temptation is gone...

Might buy shuttle expedition instead.
 
A little spree thanks to the Lego AFOL early opening. Went to Stratford yesterday as the Lego store was open from 11am for AFOL's only.

Didn't want to do any big spends (Imperial Shuttle, R2, VW & Unimog will have to wait) but went mostly for the Minecraft set and Big Ben.

Got one Minecraft to open now and will decide to open the other if I like the set enough. Build was fun but will probably use it as a parts pack for a MOC. Big Ben was a fun little build and my first taste of the Architecture line. Built it while watching the Jubilee flotilla. Will probably put it on my desk at work.

Spaceman storage set picked up on a whim, might Bricklink the parts for a few more. Last large motor I need for a MOC I have planned using the Extreme Cruiser and Super Car. A fellow customer and some staff helped me find a bunch of Space Marines. He was after an army of Bunny men.

Batmobile was thrown in for free. PAB to kill time waiting for my wife to arrive.

Forgot I went for a Computer Nerd but not sure how that Aztec got in there...... Show with the few Marines I already had.

Not counted yet but it's a good haul I think.

After a trip to Sainsbury's today I found they had just got the Series 7 minifigs in and got 5 Marines all in a row on the shelf hanging strip thing...... It looks like one box worth hung out so I guess they were all in order?

My garrison almost looks complete. Just need 2 more Marines.

It is printed in the catalog that it is included for double points... how are they getting away with this?

Also, my QAR just arrived! About to dive in. :D
