That B-Wing is pure sex. The wings do look a bit too short though. And I really hope it comes with a minifigure.

It's kind of a bummer when you buy a LEGO set with no minifigure inside :/

Based on the schematics from Wookieepedia, i'd say the wings lack very little length, one more stud row might be better length. At least that leaves some leeway for modding...
Also, doesn't seem to be having a minifig but looks like its cockpit is not too large, ie a minifig wouldn't be out of place in it.

I'm really digging the Monster Fighter aesthetic. Part steampunk, part horror camp, it's a lot of fun. I picked up the cheap-o hovercraft + Swamp Man set and it was a cute, little build. I might have to ask for some more kits from this series for my birthday...

So far, the only place I've seen them is at Toys R Us. Are they, or have they ever been, some form of Toys R Us exclusive?

Do things like tower bridge count? I kind of consider any 10xxx set as a collectors edition

UCE sets tend to be super size versions of regular sets.

I suppose Diagon Alley and Haunted House can kind of be seen as UCE sets.

I looked at the train set long and hard at Target the other day, just couldn't justify spending the cash now but I really really liked what I saw!

So I just finished fire brigade and I'm missing two gray blocks. One 1x3 and one L shaped 1x3. What should I do? These are wall pieces and are very visible. Contact Lego?

Contact them, but for the meantime try and just use bricks from a disassembled set or whatnot to fill the gaps. At least the bricks are very common ones. Sorry you were missing two bricks though.

Outside of that, how do you like the Crack House? I mean Fire Brigade.

It's freaking awesome. First Lego set I've put together in 12 years. My wife and I put it together. I'm addicted again. Only problem is I'm gonna want to get green grocery and corner shop now.... And that won't be cheap...

Just take the approach I did: only get the in print modulars. I could not bring myself to pay the prices for those other sets that are out of print.

And then just build your own modulars. :)

But get Grand Emporium next. It is next on the chopping block.

Finally, the long-awaited UCS B-wing!!!

Will but but man, he sounds so unenthusiastic about it in that designer video.

Yea that's my plan. I have the Star Wars SSD under my bed waiting for my
Birthday. Might get two more modulara for Christmas. Do you think I should be another fire brigade and sit on it until it goes oop? Could make the money for corner shop or GG.

Or just get Fire Brigade to salvage for parts. :)
I am just not into the speculation game. I would not be able to do it.

In all fairness, the B-wing is a pretty stupid ship.

edit: anyone link the new Brickset photos?

BAH! B-Wing is a badass ship! And those pics are soooo nice. If only we knew the piece count and price...

Uuuuh. Lame. Piece count is good, that price is nuts. After the SSD being so high in the PPB I was worried all the UCS sets would go that route. But then they priced the UCS R2 at less than $.10 a brick and I got excited again. Now this. Urgh.

I will still be buying it because I REALLY want a badass B-Wing model, but that price makes it less a "FUCK YEAH! I MUST HAVE IT NOW!" purchase to "I will get it soon."

Eh, who am I kidding. I will still get it first day.

10227_bwingengines-packaging.jpg

Now to just mod this and hide some light bricks in the body to make those engines glow.

Same here, but I will be getting it. The wings closing is a nice touch, but needed.

The wings closing is easy to pull off. The rotating cockpit was the big thing I was wondering about the implementation.

Are the Star Wars Lego prices getting more and more ridiculous as time goes on? I've only been following for a short time, but most of the summer sets seem way overpriced.

They're aimed at adult collectors so they can get away with the price hikes. They know these people will buy them anyway.

Holy shit, B-Wing is $250? I know I'm not a System guy anymore, but that is WAY overpriced. I hate to say it, but I feel like LEGO is price gouging on that one.

Seriously. $60 was too much for an X-Wing for me. I was lucky enough to get one at $40. No sale on that B-Wing. Not when I could get a millenium Falcon for $50 cheaper.

Isn't Tower Bridge $10 cheaper, and has ~1000 more bricks? Love the B-Wing, but will wait for a sale.

I don't see them changing the price, as there are people out there that will buy multiples of it the first day.

Just got home from Rehoboth Beach. The lady and I ended up stopping at the LEGO store in Newark, Delaware on the way. How Newark, DE has a LEGO store but Pittsburgh does not, I don't know. I was psyched to hit the Pick-A-Brick wall, because I really need some green plates, plants, brown bricks and slopes, etc., for some landscaping, plus 1 x 1 round plates, gray plates, gray bricks, for medieval church and lighthouse MOCs I'm concocting. It was a pretty small store, and they had nothing I needed, for the most part. I got some plants, some flowers, some light blue 1x1 round plates.

My girlfriend wanted the Bride Series 7 Minifigure (hint, hint, right?), so I successfully felt out a minifigure from Series 7 for the first time. I was quite proud.

As for my purchases, I got my first Monster Fighters sets - Wolf Man and Vampyre Hearse, in preparation for the Haunted House - plus the Kingdoms Chess set. So happy with them, can't wait to put the MF stuff together, and dem minifigs. Best thing about Delaware LEGO store - NO TAX!! I had like 195 VIP points, too, and I saved the $5 I had accrued, so now I have $15 in LEGO bucks. I'll probably put those toward the zombie graveyard set in August.

I wasn't overly impressed with the store itself (I've been to the one in Rockefeller Center in NYC - wow), but it's so much fun being in a store totally devoted to LEGO. I talked with the kid at the register for a bit, and he was jealous of my Chess set for army building purposes. He didn't have the opportunity to grab it yet. Having my girlfriend there, helping with pick-a-brick and to decide which sets to get, made it even better.

Well, in the States, Tower Bridge is $40 more (B Wing is $200), but has nearly 3000 more bricks. Tower Bridge still reigns supreme for the best price per brick.

Speaking of Tower Bridge (AKA the gift that keeps on giving for pieces), I finished the roof for my Corner Florist MOC.

Lined up next to my Cafe MOC.

I just realized that the corner of the second floor looks like a screaming face

I have not done a single interior detail yet. I also need to figure out what to do with the exterior SNOT plates on the second floor, or rearrange them some to figure something out. But I have to say it again, making a building with a corner like that adds some unique challenges that are very rewarding to figure out how to make it work.

So now that LEGO has shown the B-wing, I wonder what they are going to debut at SDCC next week?

Last year they showed the 2012 TIE Fighter as well as the prototypes for the 2012 Super-Heroes sets.

My guesses: Hobbit preview, Super-Heroes 2013 preview and something for Ninjago.

LOTR or Hobbit 10000 series set please. Pretty please.

The Star Wars and licensed lego sets always cost more pieces due to the licensing costs, and they usually get away with it since theres often higher demand than the regular sets.

Imperial Shuttle was only about 500 more pieces and was $100 more than the B-Wing. Prices are about same.

Bag End UCS

I'll take anything LotR or Superhero oriented

Anybody here going to Brickfete in Toronto next weekend? I'm planning on going with my wife and daughter on the Sunday. Not sure what to expect as I've never been to one before. I'll take a bunch of pics and see if I can post them here (what's a recommended image hosting site to use?).

Well, ended up buying a LOTR set after years of back and forth on taking up a fun little hobby like this to try. I come in peace, LegoGAF.

So I've just been getting back into Lego. I recently bought the Joker Funhouse and the Swamp Creature set. I REALLY like the monster fighters sets. When the haunted house comes out I will be buying it for sure and I never thought I would spend so much on Lego. Im also getting addicted to buying the blind minifigures. Fucking Lego. I can see this getting addicting.

You leave in pieces.

Sorry. Could not resist.

But honestly, welcome to the horror show. Be prepared to weep on a daily basis at the things you want to buy.

Also, Leng Jai: I see you on the Eurobricks forum. I only joined to enter their modular madness contest, but it was interesting seeing another LegoGAFfer on there. I immediately recognized your avatar.
