I'm laughing so hard at this - it's amazing.

UK-GAF. Lego have put Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter on sale . Down to £46 from £95 seems a good deal to me! Get a couple of the Olympic minifigures to get free shipping too!

I stop looking at this thread for a few weeks, and the first thing I do when I see this is instantly buy it... :(

Also PhoncipleBone and FliXFantatier, I'm really late but awesome modular MOC's. The thing I love the most about Lego is the creativity brought out from it.

Had some fun with my creator set today. I'll probably build something else with the bricks later, but for now, I'll stick with my propellor plane.

That city is really cool.

I'm still missing all my old Lego - I really want my two Model Team trucks and my pirate ships, and I'll get them the next time I visit my parents. Anyway, I stumbled across someone selling an older boat set (4011) for five bucks locally so I jumped on it.

I actually own one already but it's at home and I can't say no to five bucks, and nothing was missing (though the stickers are peeling and taped on in spots). Here it is after me cleaning it and then my daughter taking it into the bath.

I had a shot of her playing with it too but it ended up being way less family friendly than it looked on the camera screen.

Anyone know the date on the 4x4? If I've got a while, I may be going to grab the Excavator tomorrow for all those PFs. :-O

Out in Germany now, uk apparently August 1st. They have a web page and price (£140) but not purchasable yet. Instructions are up on the US site but no product page. So I'd say you have a few weeks.

Do you want the excavator, or the LAs? I have the excavator and it's a nice build, but have you seen 9396, the rescue helicopter? That has mini LAs for the landing gear

I managed to just squeeze The Hulk into one of those Ikea frames, bit of a description afterwards to explain how I did it.

Marvel and The Avengers by Brent Waller, on Flickr

Instead of the standard glass that comes with the Ribba frames I used a piece of clear Perspex plastic, 2mm thick. On the back of the frame I used Blu Tack to make the backing board sit slightly higher than the standard frame. On top of all this the perspex is actually warped slightly around The Hulk's head. It actually is applying pressure to The Hulk (as you can see by the fact that his feet are no longer connected to his stands). But I don't think it's too noticable.

omg the turtles one :) :) reminds me of a purchase i made today:

I was eyeing those figures off when they were first announced earlier in the year, and I don't collect figures at all.

Then they released marvel and LOTR lego...so that put an end to that idea :(

Fire brigade is just so good. Finished the first floor about an hour ago. The rest of it is just sitting there waiting. Crack house indeed. I did not realize some of these things were possible with lego. It's just so pretty. I just stare at it and smiled for a bit.

Also I mixed the bags. What an experience. Oh god. It hurts but... I .... I think I'm going to do it on all legos from now on.

I had a pretty psychotic moment while building it though. It was about 4am, i had stayed up building. Digging through the box was taking forever but i was enjoying it. At some point I thought of other legos i own, which includes the batman funhouse set. then I thought of a page from a batman comic where joker has a line, "Every time I try to think outside the box, he builds a new one around me." I then imagined myself illustrating that literally with my legos. I began laughing hysterically. I realized I was losing touch with reality when I looked away from the bucket of LEGO and the sun had risen, and I was about an hour of sleep deprivation away from building elaborate room-sized lego deathtraps for my friends and loved ones, so I made myself go to sleep. I was seeing legos when I closed my eyes, like tetris vision except with rummaging through the lego bucket. Dear god.

It's a good thing I'm already broke or I'd blow my money on grand emporium as soon as I finish. The subtitle of this thread, or the inevitable OT2, needs to be something to the effect of "We are terrible people."

I did it before, hated it because I'm always feeling that I finally got a box with a missing piece. Only to find it 15 minutes later then move on to the next piece & get that feeling all over again.

I'd want the thread title to say LEGO: Lasciviously Expensive, Gaf's Obsequiousness

Wetwired, I love the Marvel frame. Is that the new Spidey?

And UCS B-Wing is gorgeous, but probably too rich for me at £170. I really want R2-D2, but am saving for that. Is it common to announce two Star Wars UCS sets so close to each other? I am semi-tempted by that Obi-Wan UCS cheap, but so many of the reviews say it is boring...

Anyway, real reason for posting is that I have a great bargain story to tell. Spotted a mixed joblot on Gumtree near me for £25 - pic showed some random Harry Potter bits, the edge of a Indiana Jones Crystal Skull set, a Clone Wars set I'd not seen (Pirate Tank), plus a load of the usual bright random blocks from various Build and Basic sets. For those alone it was worth it, and I'd not bought a mixed load for a while... But when I collected it, they handed me two massive plastic sacks, with a lot of sets in there, including some older Star Wars, plus one of the Indy sets inspired by Raiders, a Quidditch set, and lots of figures. Really lucked out.

BTW, someone may remember my Cafe Corner rebuild post earlier in the thread. I've since finished it - with a few mods/subs. Looks great. Will post pics soon if anyone's interested. Best thing - on seeing it, my wife got bitten by the bug, and has ordered lots of little pieces from ebay and Bricklink in order to furnish the inside properly.

If you loved the first floor that much, just wait until the second floor. The less you know the better.
Dat brick texture...

Well, I really want the controls and PFs so I can motorize my Supercar. :)

other cool stuff:

Awesome stuff. I love that Troll Warship. Still kinda resentful that LEGO appears to have dropped classic Castle for Lord of the Rings, because the Fantasy-Era Castle and Kingdoms stuff was seriously the best CC ever. Maritime fantasy warfare with trolls and skeletons? When I was a kid, that was like a soggy wet dream, never anything I imagined could happen. They had Pirates and they had Castle, and I got my fixes separately.

If something is out of stock on the lego website - do they charge when the stock is dispatched or does it come off your card when you order?

Finally got round to updating my Big Ben. Previously I'd made it 4 studs wide which I think suits the original better, and allows for the clock face to stick out less. Then I got the itch to extend it a little.

I still want to have a go at making a custom sticker for the clock face, but I'm pretty happy with this at the moment.

Damnit - Excavator is out of stock. I can get it in 2-3 weeks, or grab the MOG for the parts and pneumatics. 4x4 will have the IR stuff, so that's a plus...Thoughts?

I picked this up at TRU with a 20% discount yesterday - knocking it down to $73 after tax. Dunno if thats a good deal due...I originally wanted the Vampire Castle but they were out of stock.

Please tell me you didn't buy two Big Ben's for that...

Looks cool, though.

Two wouldn't be enough. I did buy two to do the original 4-wide tower. And then a ton of tan pieces from bricklink for the extension. Other than the modified 1x1 with studs on all sides, most pieces were pretty cheap.

Mog only has one motor, the rest is pneumatics. Excavator might be on the way out soon (pure speculation based on unimog flagship and 4x4 flagship). I'd get the excavator but up to you.

Point taken - those motors will make for some wonderful opportunities later. While I may not get it until the end of the month, Excavator purchased!

This. I'm soo scared to tell my girlfriend :(

Woah, very nice! Interestingly enough, I noticed they were out of stock at my store, too. Nonetheless, you will enjoy and the gf should understand! ;) My fiancée has accepted my LEGO obsession better than I figured she would. It's your treat to yourself!

Pics when you get it!

Holy shit. I think she might notice when you build it :)
Oh lord, I laughed so hard at this.

I am still trying to figure out how to sneak that one in myself. I am shocked my wife accepted me buying the Death Star so easily.

Also, I think she will notice when the cartoonishly huge box arrives. It is easier to sneak smaller sets like cars in, but buildings and mega sets are impossible to hide.

Do it like in 'The Great Escape'. A few wedge pieces in special bags sewn into your trousers, then calmly walk around your room and shake them down your leg onto the floor. Nobody will ever know. And then you just go 'oh, I've got a ton of these grey pieces dear, I might see I can make a spaceship out of them' :whistles:

Nice Elisabeth tower there :)

That looks really really awesome and puts the official model to shame.

I think I'm just going to have to throw something shiney in a room for her to run after while I sneak it into the house. She's supportive of my hobby but £350 is a whole lot of money on one build!

Ordered the three cheapest monster sets for now (mummy, werewolf, swamp creature), i'll wait the others out. If it's one thing I've learned in the last 3 months of LEGO collecting, it's that deals are readily found if you are patient!

I'd love to pay MSRP for the skiff though :p If I can only find one
