Well, I finally finished putting together Fire Brigade at around 4 this morning. I should've stopped since I had to be at work for 9:30, but once I start building I need to finish. What an amazing set. The brick work (no pun intended), and the little details like helmet hooks, the ping pong table, and the kitchen appliances are awesome. The finished set as well looks amazing. I'm definitely sold on collecting the modulars now, they are just great display pieces and fun to build!

The set was missing a black 1x8 smooth flat piece, which fortunately doesn't really hinder the build too much, but it will bother me until I can get it. Does LEGO provide replacements for missing pieces, or should I just bricklink it?

Lego will provide a missing piece. Just contact them.

And glad you loved the build as much as many of us have. The brick texture on the second floor is just killer.
 
Thinking about getting the current Y-Wing from TRU. Only a $5 markup compared the Lego site, but about evens out with shipping.

Should I cave in now, or wait?

I've had all three. sold the mobile crane just last week. 8043 and the bulldozer are similar builds in many ways, both RC. 8043 has a crazier gearbox to let all those functions operate, but I liked the bulldozers general appearance (8043 bucket is much too wide). Mobile crane was mad with the pneumatics and honestly I wish they'd do a new version with the linear actuators. Size and 6-wheel steering was cool.

I thought someone here posted a project here before? I don't see a problem with it, but I wouldn't turn it into an advertisement. It's really just an MOC, no?

Basically, I'd say use your judgement in what and how much you post. :)
 
Okay, you guys twisted my arm! I just submitted this a couple of days ago. I only seriously got into LEGO at the beginning of this year and this is the second MOC that I've designed using LDD. I was so thrilled with how it turned out that I had to submit it to Cuusoo. Any suggestions for improvement would be great!

I would guess $400-$500, similar to the Death Star and the SSD. Gigantic, super expensive sets seem to be always Star Wars themed, so I think the recent introduction of the LOTR theme to the LEGO stable makes now a good time to produce a non-SW themed super expensive set. People even here in this thread have mentioned how awesome it would be to have large sets of Orthanc, Minas Tirith, Edoras and other LOTR structures/locales. Don't get me wrong though, I'm a HUGE SW fan and I love the large SW sets (I have the SSD), but the LOTR license could be the perfect theme from which to draw the next large set while trying something different than SW.

So... 500€+... Won't ever be produced as it is even if it passes the review. EDIT strike that, how much the SSD is in euros? 500€?
That said, looks awesome. Very nice, would like to have one. If i lived in a world where i could afford it and lived somewhere where i'd have enough space to keep legos on display...
 
you should chuck that thing into POV-Ray for some nice renders, I'd personally but it on a white background as the black is difficult to make out with the noisy ground texture behind it. Let the model take focus.

Is there any interior? you could have a removable top with a little throne area like in the movie.
 
Brick Bible... $12 bucks hardcover, should I do it? I'm actually kind of tempted to wait til I get a Nexus 7 and get the kindle version but it's only $2 cheaper though the pages won't get old and ugly over time. LEGO is so awesome that reading it is amazingly gratifying too.

I have spent so much time looking at the new Death Star - I seriously can't stand it for some reason. :\ I would drop the $400 for the OLD Death Star, but the new one is just too play-y for me.

I felt the exact same way. I thought it was silly looking and childish. But the possibly soon to be OOP status of it and the sheer amount of mini figs made me cave. It is one giant playset, but that is what makes it magnificent. If you have any small love for the original star wars films, it is a heavenly set and a damn fun build to boot. And if anything, it will give you TONS of great MOC pieces, but I don't think I will ever take it apart except to build it again for kicks.

Not really, no. The SSD is such an imposing set. Like I said, I've always wanted the OG Death Star, but it's FAR too expensive right now.
 
Asked this before but got no answers, but is Legoland in Orlando any fun? No kids so it would just be GF and me and looking for what to do while in Orlando, and not sure we should visit legoland or not.
 
I visited a toy shop in another town and felt comfortable to feel up the minifigure bags like a weirdo. I missed the programmer, it must have been the carrot I felt. But I did get the viking woman which I really wanted, a spare space marine and the bunny guy. Also got a male tennis player which I guess goes well with the female one I got before.

Unless someone wants a quick trade (space marine for programmer) I guess I'll give the spares to friends who have kids.
 
So, I finally found a person in US who's willing to send me new LEGO sets to Europe (just bricks and instructions to keep the shipping fee down). What's the best way to track LEGO prices in US? Amazon Warehouse, what else?

In the uk they have the calendar in store, and recently they had Brickley the Lego sea-serpent thing. Also VIP exclusives like the mini modulars and. Of course all the modulars and other hard to find sets - at least in the uk you don't get things like the VW camper in normal toy shops
