BrickShow has their hands on a Chima mini fig, if you want to see what they look like.

Legend of Chima is so Action Fabuland :) I used to have Fabuland as a kid.

Thanks Lego Gaf, just scored the $100 mining set at Walmart for $40. Last one in stock :)

Same here. The website had it listed as out of stock, but I saw one sitting on the shelf. Now I have to exhibit patience and not give it to my son before the Chanukah.

Haven't had time to go back through the thead. Has anyone gone the darkside and picked up any of the Halo or WoW megablocks?

Also, what do you guys think of the LotR sets?

I need some Fabuland sets.

Noticed the little minifigs you can get for preordering some of those Lego games. Will I get in trouble if I preorder them and then just return the games later and keep the minifigs?

About the bolded: But some things it is good to separate the color out. For the cheese slope pieces I have a pocket for all the tan ones from Tower Bridge, then another pocket for every other color. Otherwise it would be digging through a sea of tan for a while brick.
.

Yes, it's a continuous thing.

Colour is good when you have hardly any pieces.

Type becomes better when you have a decent amount so you can easily find a 1x1 red brick without rummaging through tons of red bricks.

Then your collection gets a even bigger and you find value in separating at least some parts out into colour too, to avoid them being swamped - eg your tan cheese, and I did the same when I bought a lot of 1x4 brown tiles for flooring from the PaB wall. They are still in the tiles box, but in a compartment next to the other 1x4 tiles.

Built 10199 Winter Village Toy Shop today. Pretty hard to come by nowadays, but I got one for €65. Cool build and nice display. I also have Bakery and Post Office to build (both not hard to find at a discount), which will all go nicely together (I should find some white baseplates). Holding off on Winter Cottage until it's available at cheaper etailers.

Glad I got the Winter Toy Shop before it sold out. Despite being the first I'd say it is one of the best.

Some new deals from Amazon Warehouse:

LEGO Pirates Imperial Flagship (10210) ($308)
LEGO Creator Pet Shop 10218 ($127)
LEGO Monster Fighters 9467 The Ghost Train ($53)

Just off my temp ban. I've gotta stop.

Bought the Town Hall for 140 off Target. Got the Robie House 50% off on Amazon. Then got the Death Star for $310 from Wal-Mart. And now I want to buy the Maersk train from Lego before the double points are gone.

Halp.

I just wanted to tell you that I think this is a great idea. Sorry, I know it's not the intervention you were hoping for!

Finished GE and it's a lot bigger than I expected. That and the roof doesn't want to "snap" to the third floor.

I'm already thinking of getting the Town Hall for Christmas. D:

I have no interest in the town hall, just doesn't wow me. That helps me feel good because it means I'm not locked into completing or keeping up with the modulars, just the ones I like. I'll happily skip that and market street (whether or not its a 'real' modular). I would like the green grocer though.

I like the way Town Hall looks. I'd like more buildings like the Pet Shop set, though.

Town Hall does look nice once completed. It is just a shame that the build was not as good as the other modulars. Except the roof. Dat roof.

Speaking of which, I think I am going to disassemble all the modulars tonight and attempt that epic "four modulars at once" time lapse video. Let's see how this goes.

Still managed to resist the modulars. Then again I've never seen them at sale price (in the UK) so it's all or nothing.

I think it'd be awesome if there were a series of 70-80 dollar half-width modulars like the parts of pet shop. Seeing smaller price tags would take the edge off the pain of spending.

Maybe make them 100 dollars, use a full size baseplate, and have outdoor scenes on the other half. Buy all the half modulars and assemble a park or plaza from the outdoor scenes.

I'll probably actually buy grand emporium for myself this week.... I'm sure I'll spend money on black friday if promos happen..... then I can try to hint to people to buy me another modular or haunted house for christmas. Then in the dead of night I can lock myself in my room and secretly have batman, superman, and wonder woman defend my small town from the joker and lex.

Speaking of townhouses. Similar to your comment here, I felt like the townhouse half of my Pet Shop set didn't hold the roof on very well, I ended up moving where one of the studded pieces were so that the connection was more evenly distributed.

Something similar might help with the GE, I don't own it so I cannot be sure.

Wrong decision. (or right given how much it will cost to complete the set now)
They are awesome however. Have grand emporium and Fire Brigade.

Brickshow at it once again.

This time with more LEGO Hobbit stuff. (look at their videos for the past day or so for a TMNT figure and a Batman figure review. both off ebay) Commenters are speculating that these were illicitly acquired by the seller.

All of these new minifigs in 2012 and 2013 (especially the TMNT and Chima figs, but a lot of the Hobbit stuff, too) are really, really impressive. Looking better than ever.

They seem to be doing amazing things with the sculpts on the heads/hats, wish they would do more experimenting on changing the bodies and legs. Paint apps are all-around great. In an age where a lot of full-size figures (like the new Playmates TMNT) don't even have paint on the SIDES where the missing paint is clearly visible, LEGO still paints the backs of their figs, even on parts that will mostly be covered by capes or backpacks/shells at all times.

I have been to the dark side. I recently grabbed a Halo set at a store-closing sale. I've got to be honest and say that it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Here's my two cents:

Pros: The big positive with Megablocks, in my opinion, is the detailed mini-figures. They are quite impressive and highly articulated. I also liked some of the differences with their instruction booklets. It was great how they showed, with colored dots, exactly where some bricks were supposed to snap in place. Sometimes this didn't work out as intended as I often found myself jumping ahead one or two steps to make sure that I was indeed putting the blocks in the right place.

Cons: There is a definite difference in quality. This is the big negative with Megablocks, by far. The Megablocks are not as smooth and polished as LEGO bricks, so they don't look as nice and they don't fit together as well. At one point, I was trying to snap a circular single-stud piece onto another single-stud piece and it took me WAY too many times to get it to snap together. Several of the bricks actually had some kind of numerical code printed on the side, dot-matrix style.

Specific to the Halo set: This is the set that I purchased:

I believe that the normal price for this set is $40 CDN, but I got it for 40% off. So this was a good incentive to try Megablocks for the first time in addition to the fact that I thought it was a great looking set. As mentioned earlier, fantastic mini-figures. Loved the purple and green colors as well. They cheated a bit with a rather HUGE specialty molded piece for the main body of the Locust, although admittedly that's what makes it look so great. The turret mounted on the back of the Gausshog is quite intricate and looks impressive when done.

My recommendation: I'm not going to lie, I enjoyed this set. Megablocks are decent, but clearly they are not in the same league as LEGO. You get what you pay for aptly describes Megablocks, but not in a horrible way. If you can get a set on the cheap, or see a set that you really like the looks of, then I'd recommend that you pick it up and decide for yourself if you like Megablocks. That's the only way that you'll know for sure because people in this thread seem pretty divided regarding their feelings for this brand. So my final verdict is that I liked Megablocks, but I didn't love Megablocks.

The modulars are the one theme I would recommend over all others. Catching up is expensive, but you only have to worry about one set a year. It is like a special present each year, and no need to worry about a summer assortment or anything.

Lego-GAF , my wife is looking to buy the Duplo Doctor's Office (5965) for our wee niece (she's about to turn 2 and her Mum is a doctor for reals), but Amazon.co.uk are marking up the crap out of the sets and then saying that their reduction to Lego's RRP is a "discount". Is this normal at all and does anyone have a recommendation for someone in the UK that would be more awesome to order from (delivery is to Belfast).

As an idea, Lego's RRP is 50 pound, Amazon have it marked up to 72 pound and discounted back down to 51. Lame.

Lego.com at the moment. Free delivery with £50 order and join the VIP club at the same time to get double points (worth £5 towards another purchase)

By the end of October.

Finding all the missing pieces in a large used set you bought is tiring. In my case this is the Sail and Fly Marina from 1994. Anyone have a good Bricklink store from the US for loose pieces? I hope to make as few orders as possible so I can get most of it in one shot.

brickling is awesome once you know the small print details

oh one more thing, not sure what you want to build but.

if you want to buy all the pieces of an existing set, because it is no longer in production say.
you can go to rebrickable find the set you want and export the entire bricklist in the correct format to then import said list to bricklink!
