And Lego.com is out of stock until an estimated ship date of November 26! After black Friday sales :(

I'm lucky that a Lego store near me has it and am considering getting it tomorrow! 0_o

Go for it. It is a great set, even if the first bag of things is botched in the way it is put into the set.

Also, I am counting down to Black Friday. Going to be bad and use my credit card and order Diagon Alley. I need it before it disappears forever.

^^^
I agree. Go ahead and get it. It's another great display set. Finished putting it together on Sunday. Now I want to go ahead and snag the rest of Monster Fighters before the years end.

Little under an hour into the Epic Modular build. My god, what have I gotten myself into?

I know it will go faster and be easier as I have less pieces to sort through, but doing the main sidewalks has been VERY slow going as I dig for 30x a certain piece per step.

Has anyone pointed out there is an Arkham Asylum Breakout designer video on the lego shop site on the Arkham Breakout page? I couldn't find it under their youtube channel. Pretty hyped for that set now.

I started to say "bro don't do this to me bro" but then I realized I'm already sold on the set so I have nothing to lose watching the video. I had a giant rant about what I wanted to buy in the near future all typed out the other night, and then the GAF maintenance period started so I never started it , but a large portion of it boiled down to "I am a gigantic whore for dc comics lego sets and any halfway decent sets will violate my wallet."

Also, Phonciple, you mixed EVERY modular? dear god, man.

Every in print modular. Fire Brigade, Grand Emporium, Pet Shop, and Town Hall. I did a time lapse video of Town Hall and Fire Brigade being built simultaneously which I can repost if you want, but this will be the most epic build I have tried.

I am taking a break so I don't cry.

I can probably only get away with saying something like this in this thread but i've been seriously thinking of selling my PS3 and using the funds for a couple sets on Brickfriday. I've been playing my Vita sooooo much and it already has a backlog with PSP and PSone games.

I've gotten over the Winter Village sets, I would want all three and thats quite pricey for something that seriously would only get displayed at Winter. I'm firm on Haunted House, would look great all year long and I actually think it would look pretty cool next to the Arkham set.

I saw the previous one. And yeah, sorry, I meant the in-print ones. I just didn't realize you were mixing all of them. I hope you started with a shot of the bucket. Goddamn that's a lot of pieces.

EDIT 1:And that Asylum. Oh dear god. If they ever make a non-mediocre batcave my wallet's fucked. Also, that fucker is 2 years older than me and working to design batman legos for a living. Fucking hell. When I graduate I'm becoming a hardcore MOC'er and throwing resumes at LEGO til they hire me.

EDIT 2: Goddammit I've begun procrastinating to make plans for a batcave MOC.

When I post the video, I will post pics of all the buckets of pieces.

EDIT: Two plus hours in. God help me. This is insane.

The bins and plates at the start.

About three hours or so of building later.

I am spending LOTS of time digging through bins for pieces at the moment. Looking at the time lapse video right now there are several seconds of dead space as I dig for parts. But once I get a bit of the way through the buildings, it should speed up considerably. The trick is finding a system to keep the instructions flowing well as I switch between four books or so each step. I am trying to keep the buildings all around the same height as I go along, especially hard because the two parts of the Pet Shop accumulate faster and Town Hall will go slower.

Anyways, that is enough for the night. I got to the point where I could have all the plates joined together. From this point out, that is one giant, 50" long building surface that I have to build on. It will only get more insane when I move to other floors.

I need another drink...

Just looking at that - I need a drink.

(Finishes off bottle of wine with my wife for you.)

This will take a LONG time. But the thing with the modulars is that they are extremely slow to start, but you reach a point in building them when suddenly you add a ton of height to the buildings in just a few steps.

Oh, and just to shake it up, I am splitting Pet Shop. Those with the set will notice it is flanking Town Hall as I go. It helps keep the two straight in my head, and also keeps the build balanced by having Town Hall be exactly in the center.

Is bag 1 just random furniture that isn't used until the end of the build? Good candidate for delegating to the kids to keep them occupied while I build the main house?

Phoniclebone, those photos of your parted out sets is a big reason I'm keeping my modulars built - I think adding 8k+ pieces to our collection would break the system

Need to decide what to break down to make space for new builds soon. But so many great display models - tie fighter, x-wing, VW camper, my modded Big Ben, r2D2 etc. does anyone else break down special sets that you expect to rebuild soon and keep the pieces together, away from your main collection (so that pieces don't get used for other things)?

Bag 1 is the random furniture and knick-knacks that go into the house. The issue comes later when you have to add those pieces back into the house as you build, but there is no indication it should go in at that time. You just have to be looking for the furniture to get added in.

worked on vampyre castle. Spontaneously bought werewolf and the mummy out of bricklust,What the hell just happened.

I had noticed the two green half base pieces were split. I wondered why you would do that.

Oh. Neat. I'll order it in the next week or so.

Your reminder to me that this set exists and how badly I want it made me go price check it. About to pull the trigger at S@H since it is on sale right now!

I will not miss out and have regrets later. Made me also search for the Shinkai set, which I can't find any cheaper than $230...

It's like nesting in prep for a new baby!
A haunted house Lego baby.

Is the Slave 1 with Boba fett worth 99 bucks for 573 pieces? Almost 20cents per piece! 8/

Is it a good/fun build?
Better as a display piece or playset? Or good as both?

Also, who has the Clone Turbo Tank? Set 8098?

1141 pieces for 139.00 +tax, and I might be able to get it for 98 bucks on Black Friday.

Is this a fun set or not really?
The dirt in the picture makes it look really fun, but the bare wheels sans dirt look kind of wonky! 8/

I'm looking at amazon's pics with a white background.

Playing around with brick link. I have never bought anything from here so I am still getting the hang of it. I have multiple wanted lists built and I am currently looking for shops with the most pieces. I am attempting to rebuild Market Street, Cafe Corner and Green Grocer. The question I pose is if I buy the bricks I currently have in my cart from this vendor, does it update the quantity on my lists showing that I have already purchased the items I needed. One example is I needed 13 of one item, but he only was selling 12. After looking though 600 lots I can't remember which lot I was missing 1 piece on. Will it automatically update that or do I need to keep track and remove them from the list?

You have to check a box after your transaction is complete, can't remember exactly what, but you can move the pieces you bought to another wish list (eg a 'completed' one)

Also be careful and check your wish list at every stage. Eg if you're looking at a cafe corner wish list, and then do a search, it can often search against all your wish lists, so make sure it's filtered if you need it. And also be wary of new/used. Couple of times starting off I got twice as many pieces as I needed because it was ordering new AND used.

Yea I saw that. It seems to sort strangely. If items were listed on multiple list (which I wanted it to do) it would show x2 my TOTAL amount 10 where on list would be like 2 and another would be 8. So it would list that items multiple times. I would only buy 1 lot even though multiple lots were listed for the same item. I have the filter set to only new items as well at this point.

Honestly, right now I'd rather spend an equivalent amount on a winter village building, zombies, dr frankenstein, and then save the rest of the cash. The haunted house is beautiful but if MF does go out of print I feel like that one is more likely to become seasonal, and even if I never get it, the combination of grand emporium arriving in december, vampyre castle now, and my intentions to buy pet shop and arkham during 2013 mean I'm all lego-ed out for the moment. I guess if I bought one more large set it would be helm's deep.

Just ordered two Lego Minecraft sets from lego.com and was 2 cents below free shipping! Another brick separator sorted that (and I've yet to see the orange one here in NZ anyway), but you'd really think they'd let 2 cents slide :)

What the hell? I just opened up my Xbox360 copy of LEGO Lord of the Rings and it says "DEMO DISC NOT FOR SALE" printed on the disc itself. I'm gonna put it in and see what it does. What a snafu this has been so far for this game. First off, EB Games said that they didn't get any of the Elrond pre-order bonus mini-figs (of which I was supposed to get two, one for the 360 and one for the 3DS) from their supplier and now this! Ugh...
