Well Target has it for $113 and I have a $50 gift card from my wedding. Just need to talk the wife into letting me use it for Lego.

I hate to say this, but that probably aint gonna fly. At least using the gift card part. :(

However, if you and the wife are wanting to splurge at Target on non Lego stuff, I highly recommend the Kitchenaid Artisan stand mixers, or a Dyson vacuum. At least that is what my wife and I used wedding gift cards on years ago.

We will see how it goes....you are probably right though lol.

Edit. Yup its a no go. : (

Well fuck, the free set/shipping/10% off doesn't apply to OOS items, so I can't use it for Haunted House, which was literally the only thing I would have gotten right now. This also now has me worried that any BF sales won't apply to it. Goddamn.

Wasn't working for me and I got to the very final stage of checkout (and I was logged in). The fine print on the promotion page says backordered products don't apply, so I assumed that's why.

How is the R2D2 set?

I think I may buy it for my set this year seeing as there is 10% off and I have £5 sitting on my account to spend. So £130 plus postage and some festive set for free. Good deal?

R2 is one of my favorite sets from 2012, if not my favorite.

He's got a permanent spot as the only LEGO set at my desk.

Picked up 2 minifigure random bags at Walmart.

Got TWO Valkyries.

My wife: "why didn't you just squeeze them to figure out what they were first so you didn't buy two?"

Me: "that kills the fun of the surprise."

And then she called me a non-PC word for mentally handicapped.

I just searched for the Maersk train on s@h and it says call to check for availability.... Call where?

Fuck. I need to draft a formal apology letter to a friend for some criticism I levelled at her reckless spending habits.

Zombies, frankenstein, winter bakery, 2 minifigure, holiday set

werewolf and mummy haven't arrived yet.

grand emporium on backorder.

kill me. the shame burns.

If its the same as the UK one, you spend over £50 (guessing $75?) and you get a free cardboard box, which you can take into a lego store after Jan 1st and fill up for free from the pick a brick wall

Interesting.... So if I have 60 VIP points would that mean I could buy something for like 100 and only spend 40 and still get it?

I think so, because when you check out online Lego looks at if you spent more than 149.00 dollars (in regards to the 10%off deal) before discounts are applied, so if you are buying a 100$ item and the trigger to earn the PAB box is 75$ then even if you "pay" with your VIP dollars (60 VIP dollars?!! Thats 1200 bucks you spent!!) you'll still have earned the reward...

...theoretically...

...you could try calling their customer service to see for sure of course! :)

Do video games count, or only lego sets?
Put them in your "bag"/"cart" and if you reach the 150$ threshold there is a little message near the top (above your first item in the cart/bag) congratulating you on your qualification for the discount.

That should let you know whether you qualified.

I was going to get the Grand Emporium just because my Fire Brigade needs a mate, but I'm finding myself strangely tempted by Diagon Alley simply because it's full of so many great pieces for building other stuff.

Stupid Canadian pricing on both of them, though. Even the discount barely mitigates that.

Modulars grow in sexiness with the more you get. Grand Emporium just makes Fire Brigade better when paired.

I did just order Diagon Alley though because it will be gone soon and I want it for MOC parts. So you and I were thinking the same thing.

That's true, and I know if I get two I'll want three, and so on.

The Alley is tempting also because there's more there for my daughter to play with, and it would end up being a family gift of sorts.

The medieval market is tempting for the same reasons, as it's essentially Diagon Alley with fewer pieces and no license.

But $200 blows my holiday Lego budget away in one swoop. Part of me would rather pick up a bunch of fun little sets, like the Chopper Showdown, some Monster Hunter stuff, etc.

Grand Emporium is a must at some point. If you have one modular, you need another.

Diagon Alley is well liked by many on here (I think it was Echoshifting that spoke so highly of it, but I cannot remember.). But it will most likely disappear before Grand Emporium. Most of my purchasing now is grabbing sets I want before they go OOP, and going broke doing so. All that is left to catch up is the SSD. Then I can relax some. But that is a bit of ways away.

Decided to buy my nephew and nieces their first lego sets(they range from 5-7 years old).

ChopperShowdown justifies its existence with the Deadpool figure. Apple Tree House is a wonderful little set. Very good choice there.

The camper and Heartlake Vet are two Friends sets I want. They look so fun. At some point I highly recommend the beauty shop and sweet shop.

It's out of stock meh. Probably going to stop by target and buy plastic containers.

Plastic containers are good for short term storage or building. For long term I highly recommend Stanley Sortmaster cases. Go to lowes for those, as they are well priced there and usually have ample stock.

Why do you think plastic containers only good for short term storage?

Well, for long term they are fine, but it is just the sheer volume of them you will need once your collection grows. They could work, my choice of wording was poor. My apologies.

I think the best way to describe it is using the smaller plastic storage containers means eventually you will need a storage container for those storage containers once you get enough of them. Now, if you have the bookcases or cabinets to house them, it would work beautifully (I hate you all with that much space! And I love you.).

The short version is that there is no perfect storage solution. It is only what works for you. If I had a house with tons of space (and tons of money), I would probably have a room with cabinets only for storing parts. But sadly, I live in a medium sized apartment and use the Sortmasters so I can stow them under the beds quickly or stack them in corners overnight when I am done building.

I do always like finding out other people's storage and sorting solutions. You can always learn something to help yourself out by seeing what others do.

Made a deal with the wife. Just bought Maersk Train for 113 from Amazon. Not a great deal, but I wanted it before it disappears. Should be here Wednesday. Need to find all my old track now....

Yay! You got it. :) And still keep the target gift card.

Not expecting my order from Lego until end of the week or next week. Slower shipping.

A deal you say...

Congrats on the Maersk!

Lol, she didn't want to go the the WVU game yesterday. So she made the deal with me that if she could stay home I could order 150 worth of Lego. Only problem is I didn't get anything from the VIP sell yesterday. I really wanted the PAB box, but it's not a big deal. The nearest Lego store is 3 hours away.

Scored the Pod Race set for $30 at Target today! It's mispriced in the ad do go quick before they fix it.

I have the set; it's awesome! Especially for that price! I paid 66$ last year at a rare 30% off sale at TRU, and have no regrets at that price. Sebulbas pod is really fun to build.

I would buy a second set at that price but alas no Targets near me have any...

Noooo! Might have to drive to target on break.
Curse my retail schedule. Traffic would be killer right now and I wouldn't have time to get to target and back. Lets hope it's still there after work.

Just went to the Magnificent Mile Lego store. It was crazy crowded in there as usual. We bought the Winter Village, Santa magnet and 2 green baseplates for my wife's Kindergarden class and a huge grey one for the winter ullage and other Xmas Legos. We got the pick a brick box.

So last night I ended up buying Diagon Alley (for all of the great window pieces and the minifigs as I have no Harry Potter sets and you basically get all the important ones here).

I also picked up the Duplo zoo truck which will be part of my daughter's christmas gift. She already has some zoo stuff and loves vehicles so she'll love that.

Today I picked up gifts for a lot of her cousins, too - realized that the Walmart here was clearing out the little Duplo police motorcycle for $3. I bought all four they had left, and figured the only reason there were any left at all was due to the store's completely haphazard organization and complete lack of labels or stickers. $3 for those is a steal.

Also nabbed the little X-wing figure set, which I'll bring to work. They had it for $8.

Local supermarket (Albert Heijn in the Netherlands) has this on sale from Monday onwards -

7208 - Fire Station http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=7208-1

45 euros instead of 70.

Any thoughts on this set? I don't have a fire truck yet, and the parts seem useful for building a small store. Not sure what I can do with the garage door pieces though.
