LegoGaf [OT2] "AKA PhoncipleBone's Twitter Account."

LegoGaf [OT2] "You're Gonna Need A Bigger Shelf."

First off, I could see how this seems like a twitter account for me. I do spam it quite a bit. Guess I am a little overenthusiastic. Funny thing is that I rarely post anything Lego related on twitter or anywhere else.

Second, I like the "You're Gonna Need a Bigger Shelf" idea.

Wife just bought me R2D2 for my Birthday and Christmas, awwww yeah

I saw it posted a while back, but is it true that the Haunted House (and all the monsters stuff) is going OOP at the end of the year? Was not expecting that at all, we both really want it, swinging that before the end of the year was not planned >_>

Here's a 30% off coupon for one set at Barnes & Noble:

http://www.barnesandnoble.com/u/Black-Friday-Cyber-Monday-Deals/379003308/

You can use it now online, or this weekend in the stores. Last year in the stores they offered 50% off one item on Black Friday, but I'm not expecting that good of a deal again.

Edit: Also, if you buy a $75 gift card, you get a free $10 gift card that will be delivered on 12/26.

Edit 2: It seems that the 30% off coupon online doesn't work with Lego. Maybe it will in the store.

Got an email from BN about Black Friday deals. They are having all educational toys and games B1G1 50% off in stores. I think that should include all Lego (except architecture). Some stores have a good selection too. Local one still has pharaoh quest stuff as well as tons of big Star Wars sets.

I was told by a Lego Store Manager that the Monster Fighter line should be carried until next holiday season from what he was told from Corporate. But you never know for sure, and Haunted House IS already HARD TO FIND at 179.00 so if you find it and can afford it, I say grab it because it's like a Specialty Modular in my book.

Isn't a lot of lego.com/store exclusive stuff always listed as Hard to Find though?

From what I understand that's true. I meant like literally hard to find unless you have a Lego store near you or a rare TRU that carries it. The prices on Amazon suck for it, so I meant if you can physically pick up the item in front of you and buy it for 179.00 or less than that's rare it seems. So do it! And build it! ]:)

Right. We're totally going to get it, just getting it before the end of the year would have been rough (and unexpected). But yeah, we're like 4 hours from a Lego store :(

Toys R Us has its Canadian Black Friday deals up - 20% off City and superhero lego, 40% off LotR when you buy two sets. Horrible deals...while they result in something cheaper than Lego's Canadian prices, it's nothing different than the Lego sales Toys R Us has every week on alternating themes.

I would buy a half price advent calendar, though, if those deals also apply to the Canadian side of the Lego store (though shipping would be painful I'm sure). The price of that thing regularly is $50, which is just plain insulting.

So I have a 100$ gift card from Futureshop but its Lego selection is pretty lackluster since they are more of an electronic boutique.

Should I go for one big set or a couple of the smaller ones? I mostly dig Star Wars and Avengers.
I only have X-Wing and Captain America so far, at this point I am trying to collect all the mini figure series.
I wish I could just exchange my card for 100$ cash and order minifigures instead somewhere else, but alas I don't think that's a possibility so

What would you buy with a 100 bucks from here?

It's all in good fun, Phonciple! I'm just teasing. Your enthusiasm for all things LEGO is probably responsible for over 90% of the LEGO purchases that LegoGaf posters make. Many of us live this hobby vicariously through you via your posts. You are the best poster in this thread. I read and enjoy every single one of your posts. Please keep it up!

A trailer for the upcoming "Legends of Chima" show aired tonight after Ninjago's conclusion. Looked ok, but it's not for me I think - my son wasn't going crazy for it either.

When I find a Youtube link, i'll post one.

Yeah that Sheema business really didn't make my son go Ohhhhhh or WAH?

IOW it doesn't do it for me either lol.

So still no official news of sets on sale Friday? I got the email from Lego, but all it said was that the sale starts at midnight and that I should order the VW Camper van.

Oh how I miss posting over here...So much to catch up on! I've been busy playing Guild Wars 2 and getting ready for my wedding (yikes!), so I haven't done ANY LEGO building. Boo. But hot damn is there a large list of awesome stuff on its way!

And you have yet to marvel at a technological terror that you can construct.

You have yet to witness the firepower of a fully armed and operational battle station.

Does anyone know how the LEGO Black Friday vouchers work? I know they are randomly from 10%-50% off, but let's say you get the 50%, would they let you go back and grab more sets? I called the San Diego store and they said that they would have "secret sales" as well. Anyone know what that's about?

From what others have said, the stores usually let you go and grab more stuff if you are lucky enough to get the 50% off voucher. I doubt they would turn down more money.

You get a card at the register when you're checking out that tells you your discount. If you get the 50% off card (I think the odds are less than 1/100), they let you go back and get more stuff off the shelves. Last year the secret sales were 25% off sets that were about to be discontinued, like the Emerald Night, Imperial Flagship, and Winter Toy Shop.

If the secret sales this year is only the list that was leaked earlier today, it will be very disappointing compared to last year.

One other possible benefit is that last year, the store here in Oregon had some rare bricks for the Pick-a-Brick wall. I got over 50 white horses last year from the Pick-a-Brick.

Picked up the Winter Cottage today. Built the igloo and the truck. Truck is very reminiscent of the Fire Brigade Fire Truck. Plan to go into the House tomorrow.

I was going to save this for Friday, to try and snag the holiday special set, but will find another way... maybe.

I had planned on R2 for Friday, but the Amazon deal was a crazy discount. Add in the lack of tax and it was cheaper than Lego probably will be.

Some other things about BN having sets on sale.

All their non Architecture sets should be B1G1 50% off in stores Friday only (not online). Combine that with a membership for 10% off. Then use the coupon listed earlier in the thread for 30% off on top of that.

But before that, buy gift cards. They have a promotion for every $75 worth of gift cards you buy, you get a $10 card that activates on 12/26.

Sounds like they saw my query I posted earlier between choosing the VW or Sopwith.

Those Galaxy Squad images could be the first signs of the space series returning to form after so many years. Not sure what to think of the multiple colours mind. I liked the universal colour scheme of about three to four colours of the old sets.

LEGOGAF |OT2|: This set, it was built for me.

My delivery from lego.com is now within it's "delivery window". Except that the tracking system they've directed me to is either a) broken and doesn't even know the numbers they've provided or b) is completely useless and just tells me, still, that my package was collected from the point of origin.

I guess this is what you get for picking the free shipping option, but DAMN, this is killing me!
