The new GTA clone Total Overdose

I haven't seen no one talking about it so i thought i would start what do people think? to me its basically GTA on crack although it also seems that they took the best bits out of true crime and improved upon them ... well minus the kung fu.

Thoughts?

I think this game looks extremely fun and I can't wait to get my hands on it. Been looking forward to it ever since E3.

GTA Clone with an amped-up Max Payne still shooting system from what the trailers have shown...

XPlay did a feature on it in which they basically tore it to shreds.

Is that the one where the guy was suppose to be sitting on a vehicle... except there was no vehicle around and he was just in the sitting position in empty air?

Pretty funny segment.

I believe so.

The game may've made strides since then but the foundation was so me-too and generic in the first place that I highly doubt it.

The advert in the UK features the brilliant lines
This games crappy PR machine said:
"Guns, cars, and of course LOTS OF GRINGOS!"

And

same advert said:
"Put that all together and what do you get?"

Mexican: "CHILLI CON CARNAGE"

I think he said carnage and not carne.

I threw up the first time i saw it.

BTW at Deadline Games website...

Deadline Games is looking for 50+ new colleagues over the next 6 months for AAA Next Gen and PSP projects

How so?

Seems better than True Crime. Great music.

Its like everything is over the top which isn't so bad as it makes the game entertaining, i have been playing it since morning and although i can see that the effect of jumping from walls and all that madness wearing off within a day or two, it still is enjoyable to kill your enemy in multiple different ways.

The game also has some nice touches such as when you hold the right mouse button in about three seconds (depends on the gun) a yellow target appears if you time the left mouse button you will get a head shot resulting in an instant kill.

There are also some specials which are called something that i cant remember and are easly obtained, some are cool others are plain weird like a wrestler coming to save you.

The driving is pretty crap but i still wouldn't say true crime crap weirdly you cannot look around while in a vehicle and can only see behind when reversing but the goodies are in the gun play "pure adrenaline action" segements of the game i would only reccommend this game to someone that loves gta and still finds the 2D one enjoyable today otherwise consider it a rental.

Oh yeah one last thing this game has the coolest way to exit a car.

I've been playing the preview code for some time, and I've found it very enjoyable. I's like having Desperado or Once Upon A Time in Mexico in a videogame, full of crazy firefights with this guy able to perform very nice tricks. I couldn't fully apreciate it because in the version they sent me there wasn't a navigation map, so finding my objective was sometimes a real pain.

However, I've been very positively impressed and it definitely is *better* than True Crime. But I still prefer Mercenaries over this.

PC Version Mini Impressions

+Controls, everything control better than GTA, this game feels like it was made for mouse+keyb combo.
+Max Payne, slow down time and make combos, looks really nice
+Earning points gets you new abilities and more life/adrenaline. Works nice and makes you get to the top of that building that has a '+3000' item.
+'Day of the dead' whenever you touch a skull symbol everyone gets their skeletonsuit and tries to kill you. Good old fun(and wins you special moves)
+ Bugs :D Lots of funny stuff happening all the time, perhaps intentional left bugs in the game? Most of the funny things in GTA were kind of buggy.
+Dialog and setting, everything from when killing mexicans from the special attacks have a really cheesy mexican style to it. You can hate or love it but I think it rocks.

+/- More storydriven. The game pretty much is all about the missions. You won't spend as much time doing nothing(i.e going on a Rampage) like in GTA.

-Graphics, pretty much GTA standard, nothing impressive.
- Less alive than GTA, less people and less fun when just messing around stealing cars and killing ppl.
-Some of the cars have wacky physics.

Recommended, best GTA clone yet. Or perhaps that was Mecenaries but still a good buy.
