The new IPAD PRO 2020 is LIT (magic keyboard)

Spukc

always chasing the next thrill

Finally apple woke up and made a proper keyboard inc back lit keys and a trackpad. Compatible with ipad pro gen 1 and 2
The old one is already pretty handy but this is next level. + usb c port on keyboard for charging

PadOS 13.4 brings trackpad support to iPad for the first time for a more natural typing experience and added precision for tasks such as writing and selecting text, working with spreadsheets and pro workflows. Designed specifically for the touch-first experience on iPad, the cursor appears as a circle that highlights user interface elements, text fields and apps on the Home screen and Dock, giving a clear indication of what users can click on. Fluid gestures on the trackpad make it easy to switch between apps, access the app switcher and activate the Dock, Control Center and apps in Slide Over. Trackpad support in iPadOS is designed to work great with the apps customers use every day. From smoothly scrolling through web pages in Safari and photo libraries in Photos, to precisely editing text in Notes and quickly viewing and organizing your email in Mail, it's a joy to use a trackpad with iPad. Most third-party apps work with no change at all, and developers can go even further with new APIs that let them deliver unique experiences in their apps. Updates coming to Apple's iWork suite of productivity apps — Pages, Numbers and Keynote — take full advantage of the trackpad and open up a whole new way to work with documents on iPad. Writing and editing text is a breeze in Pages, working with multiple objects in Keynote is easier than ever, and added levels of precision make working with even the largest spreadsheets a snap. Additional new features include gorgeous new templates in Pages and Keynote, giving users a head start on creating beautiful documents and, for the first time in iWork, users can add a drop cap to make a paragraph stand out with a large, decorative first letter. Collaboration will also become easier than ever with support for iCloud folder sharing and the ability to edit shared .

Does it actually levitate?

You're making all this noise about a keyboard?
Pretty much yeah.
Another step for ipad to come closer to laptops.

I just notice how much more i use my ipad compared to the surface.
Mainly music apps and graphical design. The thing is so damn handy imo.

Does it actually levitate?
sadly no. It's just a very powerful hinge as far as i know.
But the added height should be better for your neck. And more keyboard real estate. (with the trackpad being a thing now)

I have an iPad Pro 2018 and this keyboard is compatible. On the face of it I am very interested. Still, $300 for a fucking keyboard, Apple has gone nuts. They'll sell millions.

Damn, that keypad is sexy! If there is any money left over after buying guns with my freeee Trump Bux maybe I will grab one of these! How American, apples and guns 😉

Ofc my wife wants LiDar on her iPad... too bad bitch, won't be enough Trump Bux for that! Told you to wait in December but noooo, just had to have a new iPad then 😂

Edit: What an unfortunate time to release this shit, can't imagine numbers will do what they normally would have. Oh well, poor Apple 😂

As far as a keyboard for a tablet, looks to be done fairly well.

As far as being something more practical than a laptop, GTFO

I use the regular iPad keyboard case now, and I think it can seriously replace a laptop for 90% of people. Even for writing and stuff like that it works well (and the keyboard is better than Apple's butterfly shit). And this one is even more useful.

So... the 13 inch with 512gb is 1300$
The "magic" keyboard is 300$
The "magic" pencil is 130$

1730 US dollars for a tablet, a keyboard and a stylus.
1800 is what an xps 15 with a 15 inch (bigger) 4k (more pixels) screen, a 6 core intel i7 (better) with 16 gigs of ram (better) 512gb storage (same) a real OS (better) and user expandable ram and storage (better) costs.

Call me crazy, but Apple can shove it.

EDIT: WAIT! turns out I was misinformed... 300$ is the cost of the "magic" keyboard for the lowly 11 incher. Those extra 2 inches of material on the 13 inch keyboard are 50 extra bucks.... which brings the totals at...

Fancy tablet: 1780 us dollars
Real top-of-the line computer 1800 us dollars.

edit: fixed bad math

Looks neat but the price of an ipad pro + magic keyboard ($300) is insane... you can get a VERY NICE 2-in-1 for that money... hell you can get a VERY NICE laptop and a cheaper tablet (regular ipad, etc) for that much

I bet it is one of those super shitty no key travel keyboards. Pass.
if it's the same as the old ipad pro keyboard i can tell you it's a lot better then those shitty keyboards from macbooks. (they finally got rid of those)

Chill out clippy. I am glad OP made the thread.
The iPad is my computer when I am in bed or at the couch. I love the form factor. A lit keyboard was needed.

I would totally consider this new keyboard for my 2018 model, digging the seemingly sturdy adjustable hinge. I tried the old one and didn't like it so just stuck with pencil 2 and smart folio with no kb.

Wait this works with my 1st gen iPad Pro? That's the least Apple thing I've ever heard.

Wait no, only 1st gen of the 10 inch, and it'll be 350 bucks. That's more like it...

Apple products have always seemed somewhat lacking to me. I remember one of the features they used to promote was a stinking calendar for damn sake.

Fuck that ad was annoying as shit. Why do all these hipsters look like they have sticks up their arses
