DC really, REALLY needs to take a look at Marvel's movies and realize that they can lighten up a bit
Well DC will try their hardest to get Aaron Sorkin to hit the right notes.

What? A work being thought provoking has ZERO to do with the media it's made in. People can find music lyrics thought provoking, or paintings, or comics, or whatever.I never said they're not. I'm saying they don't. Sorry comic nerds, comics aren't as deep and meaningful as you think. They're can be well written, and enjoyable, but the majority of comic book writers aren't able to write legitamely thought provoking media. Literally the only comic that should ever be considered an actual thought provoking piece is Watchmen, because it does the exact same opposite of what most superhero comics are.

DC movies need to take advantage of HDR.

The issue was never that the movies are grounded or gritty or dark or whatnot. You could absolutely do DC movies like that and have them be fantastic movies up there with the best that the genre has to offer.
But it doesnt matter if the movies are hard-R gritty or light and bright like Guardians, if the movie itself isn't good
That's the problem. They're not good movies.
i don't mind the "darkness" as much as i do the weird look. aren't justice league supposed to be protectors of earth? they make the the movies look like they are on a foreign planet.

You should read more comics. Some of the best sci-fi and horror stories out right now are comics.I never said they're not. I'm saying they don't. I'm just gonna reiterate what I've said before: The lack of color, bleakness, and so on are, at best, symptomatic of the larger problem that is the fact that Zack Snyder is a terrible storyteller.
All his movies look like they were shot on music video sound stages.
Well, considering what the threat is, it makes sense why landscape looks like it does.
All his movies look like they were shot on music video sound stages.
I think I'd rather see him do something like Martian Manhunter.I want Denis Villeneuve to make a Batman movie.
The only comics Snyder have read are Watchmen and Dark Knight Returns...
..... Holy shit

I'm glad DC is trying something less formulaic and more interesting than what Marvel is up to.
The Marvel movies to are fine but totally forgettable for the most part. Like the popcorn I ate while watching them. They have their place, and I enjoy them while I watch them. They feel like they were written by committee and I can't tell you the bad guys motivation in any of them.
The DC movies problem isn't the tone, it's that they are bad.
Excuse me ahem Aquaman goes YAYUH
They already do... Disney hasn't stepped on that bandwagon yet. So maybe MARVEL SHOULD DO IT?! /s
maybe it makes sense, i just don't feel that it was a good choice then.
i feel like nothing is grounded or has any weight to it in that universe and that makes me not give a shit.
since nothing seems to be based on real world locations i also feel a bit lost in the universe.
Dark Knight was dark and in a fictional city but it felt like a real place, nothing of the DCU has so far.
i'm missing scenes like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mZZCTSWqsk
isnt it more that bvs had a non cohesive story...?
It would be really funny if Snyder, after hearing everyone say the movies are too dark, simply uses a lighter lens/flare/whatever for every shot. "We used oranges to tint our scenes now instead of dark blues and greys. This way it won't be so dark."
I'd really laugh. I mean, I'd be bummed that the movie still has all the happiness of a Soviet-era orphanage, but I'd laugh. Eventually.
Exactly! DC needs to bring James Mangold in for a master class in how to do a "real" superhero movie without losing everything that people like about the characters to begin with. I feel like Logan is how Snyder wants everyone to see his movies.
What makes you think Snyder wouldn't film a simple scene like that on location? And BvS had plenty of location shooting.

Then I wonder where the hell his coloring sensibilities came from.
but he gives all his scenes a weird look.
i just clicked on a random youtube video, does that look like a place that exists on earth? might as well be from star wars:
https://youtu.be/5lowHa27RcQ?t=24
And yet no Oscar, sad!
Terrible example. That scene is a vision of a future where Darksied has taken over the planet. It's not exactly supposed to look like Earth at that point.
