Hyped; they're airing it on CTV here in Atlantic Canada, which means I can watch it live and comment soon afterwards. Definitely looking forward to it; although, it is kicking Scrubs off the schedule, but I can download that just as easily.

If its as half as good as the last one, i cant wait!

On the previews it looks as if some of the teams are already starting to have a melt down and its just the first episode... so I think this season might be good.

Some of the teams appear to be carbon copies of the teams from season 5. I wonder if those pro-wrestlers are as stupid as they look. Guess we'll find out soon enough.

2 hours to go!

w00t! Totally looking forward to it. :)

Thank god Fox moved 24 to Mondays. I don't know if TAR would even cross 24's path (when the hell does season 4 start, anyways?) but I wouldn't want to make a decision between the two.

Okay, after watching for 15 minutes I have come to the conclusion that Jonathan must go! He's unbelievably annoying. Just STFU already!

Bolo looks like he's ready to pop a blood vessel in his head or something.

He will be my nemesis, and his name is Johnathan.

Early thoughts:

AWESOME. Hurricanes make for great plane drama, and already I hate someone.

Well it looks like Meredith & Maria (the best friends) are going to be the first team eliminated.

Edit: Damn, guess I spoke too soon. The teams are sleeping out in tents for the night on a glacier.

Oh, and boy was I right about Jonathan...

Jonathan> "Victoria you need to keep up with my pace or get in front of me."
Victoria> "You do realize I'm carrying a lot more than you don't you?"
Jonathan> "That doesn't matter."

What I douche! I hope he loses sooner rather than later. I don't know if I can keep watching the show if he stays on it.

Edit 2: Rebecca is such a dumb b@#(*!!! There was a red sticker on the gas tank of her vehicle that read "DIESEL" and she uses regular gas. It even said it on the gas cap itself. Now they have to get the entire tank drained.

I missed most of the show due to these stupid ass weather people being on TV an hour and 30 minutes telling people it's rining outside when they can look outside or hear it for themselves. I haven't seen enough to pick a team, but the goth people, the ones who put gas in a diesel engine car seems to be coming up fast on my "hate list."

I knew I was going to hate Jonathan when I saw a video of them on cbs.com where he said part of their strategy was to lie to the other teams and tell them they're not married, and that they're younger than they are. WTF? :lol

Loved that "airport savvy" couple going to the Air Canada terminal to find out about the Iceland flight. :D

An incredibly enjoyable episode; nice to see that this season seems to involve a whole lot more driving rather than taxis. Allows for more IDIOTIC mistakes. Can't believe they put Unleaded in it, jesus.

Nice to see that Reckless/Chicken detours came back in full force...and screwed over the final two teams. Sigh...was rooting for the old people to pull out 10th or better, so I'm happy.

Other than Jonathan hate, lookin' good so far. These people really hate each other, though.

The editing was cool. Talking about how tough the wrestlers are, only to cut to Bolo complaining about his aching calves. :) I also love the exchange where Adam and Rebecca go: I like the models. They're nice. Meanwhile the "Dating Models" go: Hellboy and his girlfriend are like four foot munchkins. :lol

Jonathan is an utter asshole, and I suspect that their marriage is an abusive/manipulative one... because I just can't see her actually LIKING that man. Anyway, Sad to see the "NY Jews in Iceland" go. Domineering CIA Dad is only going to get the axe later anyway... the guy had trouble walking to the clue behind the waterfall. Completely out of shape.

BTW, my dad was in O'hare two gates away from the United flight and saw those teams run by with their camera people in tow. He was kinda bummed that the editors jumped immediately to boarding the plane. ;)

The editing was great...one of my favorite shots was when the first group of teams was running up to the waterfall, and a big group ran past, and like 2 seconds later, CIA Dad comes panting into the shot. Classic.

The CIA dad is going to just be the death of that team... I almost feel bad the Brooklyn Jewish guys lost because the CIA dad is just going to make his team lose next week or the week after.

He has this slow, sure, and nice will win the race... Has he ever watched an episode before?

Pretty good so far. I'm already a fan of Team Hot Girl. They won the first leg, so that's cool. And tricking the girl team into turning back from the waterfall was pretty funny - that's what you get for blindly following others!

The guy in the yellow sweatshirt is like Colin from the last season, only a million times more annoying. At least Colin was able to channel his insane rage into a decent performance in the race... this guy just gets mad and yells at his wife. Nice.

The teams seem to be a lot dumber, overall. DIESEL. Also, I like how the 'logical' guy from Brooklyn decided that seven square miles of icy lagoon was 'not that big'. Good call, dude.

Yellow has to go. I could watch about 2 more ep with him in it and then I have quit. Way too much pandering to camera. I felt like I was watching Melrose Place or something, bitch, bitch, bitch. I feel no connect to any of them. Even "old couple" had negative vibe to them.

I hate Jonathan... in fact I hate most of the teams so far but I'm very happy about the large breasts and overall willingness for the females to sneak raisins into Iceland.

Sorry to see Avi & Joe go first; they would've made good comic relief.

Oh and Lori's lack of eyebrows combined with that accent takes away all the goodness of her huge, frozen implants.

To be fair, the race is more of a matter of not fucking yourself over than getting that extra edge.

Hey Hitokage, when was the race shot? It looked like summer from all the trees in Chicago, but the teams were all wearing jackets.

Wait I love this show but let me get this straight. CBS canned Hack so they could play reruns, not first run, but reruns of the Amazing Race. God damn someone shoot the head of programing at CBS, please.

Memles

First...Hack was cancelled because of low ratings in general, plus The Amazing Race was ORIGINALLY going to air on Saturdays, but Clubhouse bombed, so they moved it, then canned it. Thus, reruns on Saturdays.

And in other news...the moment 45 minutes into tonight's episode may well be the most insane point in the history of the race.

- One team still on the Detour
- One team lost in the wrong direction
- Two teams with the wrong cars
- One team receiving a penalty at the pit stop

Now, in the end, the footrace was an everyday editing job for TAR, but when we were dealing with 5 teams who could possibly get eliminated, and three of them facing penalties if they continued, the thing was a clusterfuck of epic proportions and I LOVE it.

Was rooting for Lena and Kristy, so happy to see the result that occured. They were too weak to continue; they legged behind at every point, with multiple rookie errors, including not having one of them actually know how to drive a standard properly.

Jonathan is not worth discussing by this point...but it's nice to see there's taxis next week. Finally, someone else Jonathan to blame for his problems!

An A- for this one...insanity is a plus, a whole lot of bunching is bad. Plane, all on it. Boats, all on the same footing. Train, all on it. Too much bunching, too dependent on the detour.

This show is funny as hell :) I'm about 5 seasons late to the party, but this rules. My wife and I have been trying to find out how we can get on the show.

1. Be a model
2. Bicker constantly
3. Live in LA and frequent bars in the area AND be pretty.

Do they purposely go out looking for people in abusive relationships? Jonathan is a straight up psycho. The guy flips out at the smallest things. Then you have the new crazy in this ep, Adam.

Rebecca: Put on your glasses.

Adam. I don't have my glasses! You told me to take them off on the boat and the fell in. Arrgh! If you ever tell me to take off my glasses again i'll never talk to you again in my life!

Crazy Colin from last season has been 1 upped by 2 people. :p

Colin really wasn't that crazy, in retrospect. He was more...kind of crazy.

I can't discuss Jonathan in fear of going insane myself, but Adam? Seriously, the guy stopped in a train station, and started this sappy, overdramatic bullshit that was entirely too entertaining. And nearly threatened to kill someone over sunglasses. Sigh.

That was, of course, the second time she told him to take them off. Maybe he's like...half vampire.

Jonathan is amazing to watch. I've really never seen someone get so pissed about such small things. It seems with each ep he gets closer and closer to hitting that girl he's with.

Did anyone figure out why he wanted her to apoligize to her at that camp site. He was jumping up and down saying they were number 1 while she was saying they weren't and then they got there and found out they weren't and he started yelling at her and telling her to apologize to him. And for some reason she did. Then shortly after you get a conferssional of her saying that she really thinks this trip will bring their relationship closer together.

I have to believe it was an issue of that she yelled at him for getting them lost, but they found the viking village quickly even though he didn't write down the directions. And, he did hit her. He shoved her back away from the van right before getting to the village.

That was a shitty episode. I'm tired of the driving around, the bunching up, Jonathan, Victoria, relationship woes (this is a fucking RAAAAAACE, not Elimidate), the boat-ride-from-nowhere (why were the two teams split up the way they were? why was the editing so sloppy?), and the fact that those stupid "roommates" (if that's what they call it nowadays) COULDN'T FUCKING DRIVE STICK. Holy fuck, isn't that like a prerequisite!?

If I started watching TAR this season, I wouldn't like it very much. However, those Mormon chicks are HAWT. So maybe I would like it.

shoving =/= hitting

unless he shoved her in front of a moving van

gawd, I hope one of the wrestlers puts Jonathan in a figure four leg lock

Uhhh...I love the driving around, because they don't get chaperoned everywhere. I love it when they make mistakes. Classic.

And, the relationship woes are so entertaining in their idiocy. So insane, so stupid, but it works in a disbelief kind of way.

They probably didn't show the reason they split because it's a 1 hour program and it didn't really matter. It was clearly obvious that the "Strong People" (Lori and Bolo, I think, had a big part in this) all banded together. So, Kris and Jon and Lena/Kristy were near the front of the pack of teams, and then Lori/Bolo came in and got Aaron and Hayden and Adam/Rebecca involved.

And poor Freddy and Kendra got isolated with the "weak ones". Ha.

You don't have to drive stick...but ONE OF THEM should have learned before coming. It's like going on Survivor and not knowing the basics of starting a fire.

The boat thing was purely a bunching thing. They want to create close finishes, so they use bunching to do so. Shouldn't be surprising by this point, if you've seen the Race before.

I love when people respond with "uhhhh". Uhhhh... I'm not a big fan of the driving around - kinda makes me sound like an arrogant ass, eh?

Regardless. I know it's an hour show, and they spent like five minutes of it talking about the last episode. I haven't been watching TAR from season one but I have been a loyal viewer since TAR4 and I don't ever recall there being so much exposition. It seems to me like they're pandering to the johnny-come-lately crowd that started watching b/c the show won an Emmy.

If you have the means to watch the episode again, tell me that the boat ride doesn't come out of NOWHERE; like, really bad editing in a show that usually has the best edits around. I know it's obvious that the "strong" people were in one boat, but how did they come to that seating arrangement? Everyone was all bunched up at the Viking Lodge; did they draw straws or something? I would rather that scene have been cut, like they've cut out Roadblocks in the past, than show it half-assed. I did like Freddy telling Jonathan to get his own damn bags though.

I don't find idiocy entertaining, so maybe that's why I'm not interested in Hellboy's relationship woes or Jonathon's insanity.

I am very glad that TPTB* decided to limit the amount of roadblocks one teammate can do. Very, very glad. Chip & Kim would've never won last season if Kim had to do her share, I think.

I'll check it later this afternoon.

Having now checked it...they woke up, they showed the teams, they rowed.

It's like any one of those stops. They show them getting there, they show them leaving. This was an issue of spending more time on mistakes and team issues, rather than spending time on something that won't affect the rest of the race.

And Christie, Nicole, and Mirna did sooooooo many roadblocks last season. Why single out Kim?

Where's ShadowRed, we've got a racist on our hands...kidding, kidding.

Mirna/Charla split them more than the other two, Christie/Kim did barely any.

Chip & Kim won the million. If Colin & Christie would've won, I would've said Christie. No, yeah, Memles is right, I'm a racist *yawn*

What's the penalty if you do more roadblocks than you're allowed? Do you get the 30minute penalty like the team in the last ep did, or are you automatically eliminated?
