just a quick comment on ending

vince didn't hit max because his shooting pattern (two to chest, one to head) hit the divider in the door. Habit of 6 years killed him

Really?!?!?!? I should have noticed that... the only problem I have with that explanation is
from my own rememberance of subway doors, there is glass at the chest level
... Now I'm REALLY going to have to pay attention when the DVD eventually comes out.

Well a buddy of mine noticed that. I really want to see it again just to confirm, but the explanation makes perfect sense. Especially because it's just another reference to things that happen earlier in the movie. Very, very tight production.

I think he's right. I remember two bullet holes on Vince's side of the door where it would be around the chest area. Good catch.

That freakin' rocks. And it shuts up all the naysayers who were complaining about
the so-called "standard" chase scene on the subway.

The DVD of this movie is going to stay in my player for at least a week after it comes out. Why aren't all summer movies this good?

2 days after seeing this movie and I'm still thinking about it.

I just loved almost everything about this movie, I don't think I've ever been as impressed with a movie of this type as I am by this.

Of particular note, I found the sense of color, and camera angles to be one of the most jarring (in a very good way) aspects of the film. I started noticing it about halfway through (specifically at one point where you're in a closeup of the bottom of a helicopter and can see the entire city reflected off it's underside. From then on out I just noticed scene after scene that were just breathtaking in their use of camera and color.

Just a fantastic, fantastic movie.

If I remember correctly, there is metal straight down the middle and two glass panes on the side. Vince was obviously shooting at the middle, like he's used to, while I suppose Max shot to the side, where the glass was.

Late to the party, but I just saw the movie.

This film was very engaging and riveting with style and wit. Michael Mann pulled off this narrative quite effectively. Both Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx carried this film and gave impressive performances, and by the end of their night you're exhausted for what they went through.

The pacing was good, and the dialogue was tops. Lots of nuances here and there if you look carefully, and the tension ramps up towards the end. Collateral rightfully makes my top 5 movies of this summer. Don't miss out on it!

I thought the part where Vincent starts hitting Max with a piece of debris after Max hits and flips over the cab was funny! ^_^

Agreed with your impressions 100% Calista. It's such a great flick. I really wish it was making more at the BO.
