When are the new maps going to be free? (Legendary ones?)

I just got that Chill Out remake.
We don't know. Bungie has said that they aren't aware of any plans to make them free, ever.

However, you have to assume they'd become free at some point.

Not a gaffer, (as far as I know), but I LOL'd hard at several moments of this guy's montage:

http://www.gamevee.com/viewVideo/Halo_3/XBox_360/Halo_3_Mishap_Montage_By_Mini_Waz/149401

A GREAT example of Halo 3 shenanigans, and a great example of why I love saved films.

My favorites are the flying body blocking his laser shot, and the grenade'd ghost splatting him.

I'd agree if it wasn't mostly a showcase of what a crappy internet connection can do to online gaming. It was entertaining though.

Well to be fair, only about a third of the moments are a result of latency issues. The others are just good ol' fashioned fuck-ups :lol

Does anyone still have the link to that awesome mishap montage from a few months back? It was a two-parter and it was fantastic.

Your military rank has absolutely NO impact on matchmaking, even in social. In social, you are still matched based on your TrueSkill for that list... the only difference is that you can't see your TrueSkill level in a social playlist.

I'm pretty sure military rank affects social matchmaking.

I don't really understand the content that can get you into trouble. Like modded pictures. What are those? Photoshopped images or something?

Anything that didn't come from a Halo 3 saved film. Not much to understand.

There are definately more and more players without a headset. I'm finding myself the only one on my team with a set pretty frequently.

In objective games. Which makes them unplayable.

Yea, I'm finding it more and more necessary to go into matchmaking with a group. I keep losing levels in MLG because I go in alone.

Yeah, the number of players using headsets is definitely declining. Of course, I never use my headset when I'm with randoms.

Yesterday I was in a BTB game, and there were only two people with headsets. This one kid spent half the game going "Hello? Is anyone there? Hello? Hello? Is anyone there? Please talk to me." Finally, the other guy gets on his mic and yells "Will you shut the FUCK up?" Silence, the rest of the game. :lol I sent him a friend request.

Has anyone else been noticing really bad lag problems lately? Every night for the past several nights I've played in the past week or so, we always have several games that are fine in Big Team, but then all of a sudden we'll have a bunch in a row that are the laggiest games I've ever played in Halo 2 or 3, until we finally all quit completely. Sometimes I think it's people cheating (we just had a game where everyone was red bar except for one guy who was green...who got 33 kills and completely demolished the rest of us as we reloaded our weapons constantly out of control and teleported across the map. But then the next few games after that it was just incredibly laggy for everyone the whole game. Is something going on with the netcode or something? It's happening consistently enough where it's making me not want to play the game.

Story of my life dude. I think it's because I'm from Canada. I pay for extra upload and dl speed from my isp but it isn't enough. I wonder what the population per country is like for Halo 3.

Yeah, it sucks for people outside the US :(. But this is something specifically that's only started happening in the last couple weeks, and it's happening to every single person I play with at different times in different playlists, so something's gotta be up.

Edit: Whoa, they finally (after what, 10 months) announced what you can get with the Halo points (UPCs) from the Halo figures: http://spawn.com/halopoints/

What are the rewards?
Halo Points offers a wide selection of rewards, from low-point value items for casual buyers to highly exclusive items for the die-hard collectors. From art for your wall to a complete figure for your display case, there's something for everyone. Currently, the program includes the following rewards:

Halo 3 Lithograph - 100 points
Redemption Period Begins Winter 2008
This limited-edition lithograph features original artwork by McFarlane Toys' own famous comic book artist, Greg Capullo. Suitable for framing. this work of art is exclusively available through the Halo Points program. More details and images to come.

Hayabusa Katana and Scabbard - 175 points
Redemption Period Begins Winter 2008
In the game Halo 3, the Hayabusa katana is a true badge of honor, available only after a player has unlocked every achievement in the game. Now, bring that same trophy to your action figure collection with this unique accessory. Featuring a removable katana, your figure can even do what's impossible in the game: hold the sword in its hands. Scabbard comes with a peg that attaches to the back of any Spartan figure. Spartan figure not included.

Spartan Recon Armor (red) - 225 points
Redemption Period Begins Winter 2008
So you've finished the fight. Unlocked all 49 achievements. Maybe even risen to the rank of General. But let's face it, there's one in-game reward you'll probably never get: the coveted Recon armor set. In the game, it's available only to Bungie employees and select tournament winners and other honorees. But now, thanks to Halo Points, you can finally have Recon. This set includes a Recon helmet, chestplate, and both shoulders for your favorite Spartan figure, in bright "team one" red. Spartan figure not included.

Spartan Recon Armor (blue) - 250 points
Redemption Period Begins Winter 2008
With other collectors finally getting the legendary Recon armor set, maybe you want something a bit more distinctive. Fear not! For you, there's the Recon armor in blue. This set includes a Recon helmet, chestplate, and both shoulders for your favorite Spartan figure, in bright "team two" blue. Spartan figure not included.

Spartan Recon Armor (active camo) - 300 points
Redemption Period Begins Winter 2008
What could be better than finally obtaining the pinnacle of Halo 3 armor? How about wearing Recon, then being invisible so no one can see it. You're not just showing off. You're the best. This set includes a Recon helmet, chestplate, and both shoulders for your favorite stealthy Spartan figure, in clear "active camo." Spartan figure not included.

Master Chief (metallic gold) - 500 points
Redemption Period Begins Winter 2008
Who could be more fitting as the top reward in the Halo Points program than the star of the Halo trilogy, Master Chief himself? Our regular Chief figures feature Spartan 117 in his distinctive green armor, but this metallic gold version is only available through Halo Points. Figure is fully packaged on a special edition blister card (not yet pictured). Show your devotion to all things Halo with this truly one-of-a-kind trophy.

What's interesting is with the armors you just get the pieces to put on an existing figure, it's not the full figure. Ideally I'd like to get a recon and a katana, but with the points I have now, and with the three figures I KNOW I'm getting out of Series 3, that only puts me at 210 points total :(. I guess I can track down some of the campaign figures from series 2 I guess, the series 1 ones were all worth 35 points (the multiplayer figures are only worth 10).

I'm so sure I could get like...at least 2 of those. :x

Man... Is my headset the only one that makes your ear hurt? The headset itself isn't uncomfortable but after wearing it too long my ear starts to hurt. Now that I've been switching ears both of them hurt.

:,(

Am I the only one?

No, you aren't the only one. I have tried a few types, but I do have sore ears after a bit.

If anyone does have any suggestions for a good, extended wear headset, I woud like to know. Maybe, the surround sound headsets??

Heh, Bungle went on a serious banning spree today for modded content on File Shares, boosting, cheating, etc.

*golf clap*
Good.

I'm now awaiting their possible AU2 information.

I also would like to repeat that Default Foundry for Team Slayer is awful. We were down a few kills, but came back to tie, and next thing we know there team has positioned themselves in the "base" rooms in Foundry. They did it for the rest of the match. Conveniently a Bubble Shield is also back there.

I would like them to change that map layout up a bit. Right now the map is not fun to play.

Well that was an interesting TF2 night for the halo gaffers. It was fun guys, one thing I noticed that I thought was strange though is that for some reason it kept saying that EazyB was being dominated by me......what does that mean? :P

Misread that at first and thought that you were getting dominated by Eazy. lol.

Finally tried out this GameVee thing, pretty cool! I was wondering why Bungie didn't have a way to watch your videos online... huge oversight, in my opinion.

http://www.gamevee.com/viewVideo/385916

Probably less of an oversight than a situation of "Well, we can either host millions of videos that would be uploaded to our servers every day, or we can continue to pay Luke and buy Tijuana Mamas."

Was it the right decision? Well, those Tijuana Mamas must be real tasty.
