Oh no, it wasn't you. It was comments like that of Domino's (which I don't understand why he feels the need to do it); I didn't know you could disable comments, though. :|

Video's back-up:

I can do another if you all want me too. Just each of you give me a link to one of your favorite videos you have uploaded to gamevee and I'll make another.

Edit:

Naw, this is it for me for awhile.

<3 thank you for remembering me. my video is kinda crappy in comparison. I need to make more videos!

I was thinking for my next video, I may emulate a traffic jam.

Really?

Every country has assholes. Way to make yourself look like one of them.

Well I am just speaking from experience.

I almost never meet european/asian/whatever players that scream insults. While it seems that 75%+ of the americans with microphone I meet take every opportunity to scream rude/racist/homophobic insults

It this is because a large percentage of players are americans, I do not know.

lol I can assure you it's just from your experiences only. But I guess common sense would tell you that assholes aren't just limited to America. If you're just going on their accent, they could have easily been from Canada as well. Don't act so immature.

Domino what does your new tag mean?

I've asked it before, I'll ask it again:

Are there multiple Xbox LIVEs? And how come I'm always playing on the other one?

I hear rude/racist/homophobic comments occasionally - but it's less than 25% of all the games I play, and less than 5% of all players. And I play with TONS of people with mics.

The last screaming I heard was last night - in Portuguese. I'm not really sure what they were saying - it could have been insults, or it could have been "get the flag! Get the flag! It's down near rocket spawn!"

I dunno - there are definitely losers on XBL... but I don't run into them NEARLY as often as everyone else seems to.

duh, well I guess they could be from Canada.

Me and my friends from Sweden all have the same experience with american (or canadian...) players. They scream racist remarks aimed at us during the game (because our english isn´t perfect?). This happenes in about 75% of the games we play.

Of course we meet players from other countries that are rude, but it is actually pretty rare by comparison and I have yet to hear a racist remark from anyone.

Anyway, I see that you seem to take this personal and this is not my intent. It is, however, my experience from playing several thousand Halo 2 games a couple of years ago and a few hundred games of Halo 3. I am not saying it is a general rule.

For me there's almost always 1 per match. It's usually just one who either is 'fuzzing' their microphone or muttering insults and swearing at team mates.
They're chatty from when the room starts and I usually mute them once they pass a certain barrier.

I think it can depend on the playlist too. Sometimes younger players with guests tend to be noisy and act cool in front of friends and thisusually involves some kind of rude behaviour. These people are an instant mute.

Also, in Social playlists you can hear the other team before the game starts. This more often than not makes for some pre-game banter which can quickly devolves into a slanging match between teams and or players.

I spend the majority of my playtime either in Ranked matches alone or Ranked matches with a group of friends. Rarely is there any need to mute people in these games as you only hear the opposing team at the end, and backing out of the lobby is quick and painless.

/2 cents

XBL is a community filled with awesome players but just as many miserable ones. If you play in a party you'll limit your exposure to these racist/homophobic tweens to the opposite end of your BR, but I can't see how one could avoid them if they avidly played with randoms. It's also much worse at the lower levels where the youngest of the kiddies roam.

Nationality: Americans seem to automatically reticule anyone with an accent or speaking a different language. They also have a fascination with racial and homophobic slurs. Most other nationalities I come across seem much more well mannered. That's not to say they're all angels, it's just that on a whole they avoid using the headset like jackasses. In-game behavior seems to be a little more evenly spread. While I'd still say American kids are more prone to TKs and randomly driving vehicles around; those can of behaviors seem to transcend boarders.

Oh yeah, and I can't stand young English accents which is strange because hearing the same from a grown man's mouth makes me wet.

Heh

while I'm sure I could probably get there, I'm not to sure I want to put in the time to do so. I don't understand the Halo 3 ranking system at all, and why it took so long for me to go from 44 -> 45.

I agree with this spoiler. The British youth of today are so annoying! I cringe when I hear them pre-game. ugh

When you get on to play, how long do you play for? Thirty minutes? An hour? And do you play every night or just once or twice a week? I think most of us here play almost every night and when we play, we do it for a couple of hours. So our screamers/annoying kid ratios may be similiar, but in actuality we encounter four or five of them per night because we just play for longer than you do.

Its always fun being called/told
loser, homo, faggot, Never seen a vagina, have no life, the only woman i have touched is my mom, mom jokes in general, obesity jokes.
(just because im a General Grade 3) in almost 2 out of 3 social games. I am sure the ranked games give us the same assholes, we just do not stick around for more than half a second towards the end so I do not have to listen to them.

Epitaph lies with the Prowler, Flare, Deployable cover, Radar Jammer, and a few other items or weapons that Bungie has in the game but doesn't insist on using them.

Makes me sad. Even though I've been terrible on Epitaph as of late I'm very disappointed to not see it outside of LW/TD. Hopefully this new big update will mix things up a bit as far as maps/equipment/vehicles are concerned.

And change Snowbound. Such a wasted map in both it's initial and current forms.

Actual quote from last night in the pre-game lobby:

"Hey <gamertag>, how did you get that medal?"
"What medal?"
"The medal you got from sucking so much dick, you fucking faggot!"

It went downhill from there.

Probably 1 in 3 of my games have the pre-game lobby degenerate into something similar. (100% of the time Dax is in the lobby, going by last night.) But that means 2 of 3 times, things are fine.

He answered his own question! What a simpleton.

I think "number of a-holes you meet on Xbox Live" is kind of subjective. I probably run into a lot, but because of (a) Team and Party voice in Social and (b) insta-muting for the most trivial offence, I'm not too bothered about it. The support for dealing with idiots in Halo 3 is excellent, and I hope Gears of War 2 does something similar.

Let's not forget the ever-elusive Fire (Flame?) Grenade. I've always wanted to nail a random in the face with one of those.

This is true only because the european/asian/whatever are busy telling me to 'stuff another patty, pig boy.'

Yada Yada Yada

Everyone is an asshole, don't play favorites.

How would you change it? I don't really have any problems with either iteration, except in doubles. Maybe a bit of forged cover above the OS tunnel would be nice.

Halo 3 for the PC Confirmed?

Thanks to Simon Hutchinson who sent in an image he got from the Microsoft Download Service. Either someone other there has a sense of humor or Halo 3 is going to be coming to the PC.

Just ran across this. I have no idea of the legitimacy of this.

One thing I've always had a problem with on Snowbound (especially in LW) is the Ghost. The map supplies a Ghost, yet does not have any weapons (other than stickies) that can feasibly take out a Ghost.

And shield doors suck
except when you have a shotgun
.

I do the same. When playing with randoms, it doesn't pay to hear what they have to say.

It's like DARE: Just say no, kids.

On topic (sort of): Does anybody here owns Halo 2 for PC? I've been considering the purchase for a while, but the fact that its just impulsive and the game is still at $50 in stores always stops me.
I will be soon I think. Its $30 new on Amazon, and rubbing Halo 2 achievements in my 'PC's are gay' friends' faces will be awesome, along with the general awesomeness of Halo 2 which I only got to experience at those same friends houses. Follow me?

Anyway, how do I get in on the GAF Halo 3 action? I've decided to take the leap back in--is there a HaloGaf GT or something I should add?

Add GAF Halo 3.

Also feel free to add me to your friends list (GT: backflip10019).

Brute shots, one on each side of the map. But yeah, it's not ideal, the Ghost should probably be removed from HC Snowbound.

Fixed.

I think I've mentioned this before, but I am one of the few people that enjoys the randomness and ravings of XBL. I think not being able to hear the great unwashed masses would take a great deal of the fun out of it for me.

And having recon just makes it more humorous:

Was anyone else disappointed that the major changes coming to the Halo 3 online experience was simply de-coupling military rank from skill level rank? I was expecting something that actually affected gameplay or matchmaking. I guess I'll learn not to get my hopes up too high anymore.

Dude..... Face him :D

Anyways I completely agree I love when kids are annoying/talk shit/throw insults. If it gets too bad I just mute them and no harm done. Besides its a competitive game, talking shit, teabagging those are just results that will come from any game where teams are competing its not the maturity of players. People will talk shit even in accepted professional sports.

Uhh... did you read the BWU? It was said at the end that there would be more substantial changes announced in September. I don't think the de-coupling of military rank and skill level rank are it all.

Heh, I love the random spatterings of friend requests and other friendly stuff like how you get reconz? in between the U SUCK!1! and FACE ME!1!

I read the update. The substantial changes were to matchmaking playlists if I remember correctly. Playlists updates are pretty normal in my book.

I almost lol'd. Are people really that offended by Xbox Live? I mean it's funny that that dude said that. Not because it's clever, or a good joke, but because he said it. Like it's so stupid it's funny type thing. It's just really vulgar episode of Beavis and Butthead, Family Guy, South Park etc. Try switching your voice settings to friends only you won't hear all the douchbages. I'm going to throw this out there: sometimes the douchbaggery is funny. Like asking a dude in our party what the shape of Italy is. They don't know, and you say it's shaped like a boot and then boot them from the party.

THIS is what is wrong with Xbox Live.

Speaking of being offended. I'm offended that I wasted 90 mintues watching Smiley Face. Avoid this movie at all costs!

I also enjoy XBL craziness, but usually when I play I just listen to podcasts.

It says changes to matchmaking. Not matchmaking playlists. Matchmaking.

I own the Vista version and can chime in. If achievements, subtle visual upgrades, and new multiplayer maps (that you can't play because there's no community there) are worth it for you, go for it. I enjoyed it, if only because I hadn't touched the Halo 2 campaign since that game launched on the Xbox.

Oh, and the requirements are pretty high for a 4 year old Xbox game.

the disgruntled gamer said:

Has there been much speculation about what types of changes could occur?

I'm hoping for drop-in/drop-out matchmaking a la Call of Duty 4.

As per Voltron's suggestion I did not block communications with the infamous Hitman and it looks like that may've been the way to go. If my home computer was working ATM or if my work computer could access my mailbox at Xbox.com I'd post an image of our convo but I'll just try to go off memory.

Background info: Some kid with the gamertag HitmanMSR or something like that apparently stalks recon. He's found it necessary to contact me for one reason or another.

Story time: He'd sent me a FR over the weekend and I automatically declined it because I didn't know who it was from. I got another one last night when I was playing Halo along with a game invite after every single game.

On a somewhat unrelated note Halo was being a bitch and the lag drove me to play Rock Band. He continued to invite me to Halo and being in the somewhat flustered condition I was in, I decided to have some fun with him. It went something like this.

Hitman wants to play Halo.
Me: Let's play Rock Band
Hit: i dont have that game play halo plz
Me: I really wanna play Rock Band, I'll play Rock Band with you
Hit: how much does the game cost
Me: I don't know but it can't be much, it's like a year old
Hit: ok ill try to get it
Me: Awesome, can't wait start playing games with you
Hit: accept my friends request so i can tell you when i got it
Me: My friend's list is almost full so I don't want to waste more space if I'm not absolutely sure you're getting the game
Hit: oright
<10 minutes later>
Hitman wants to play Halo 3
Me: Patience
Hit: oright
<10 mintues later>
Hitman has sent you a friends request
Hitman has wants to play Halo 3
Hitman wants to chat

I was done for the night at that point. Here's my plan though, I get this kid to shell out $160 for Rock Band and when he finally gets it I'll tell him I'll give him recon if he beats me in a head to head drum off.

I'm so excited.

I hadn't noticed that. I'm still assuming this is a playlist overhaul, since that's Shishka's realm and whe wrote that part of the update.

Also, from the week before:

Shishka has some nifty overhauls planned for the existing map layouts in Halo 3. He’s not quite ready to take it out of the oven, but rest assured, the center is delicious and gooey.

Sounds like a major overhaul to the playlists and maps is coming next month.

I have convinced HITMAN that I am a girl and that Eazy B and I work together and that I am in love with him and will add HITMAN to my friends list if he acts as a matchmaker for us.

Instead of fixing BR spread, they will just pile crates until there is only one line of sight from spawn. Spawn, fire, win. Problem solved.

This would also provide the ideal environment for the Needler.
