<3 HBO for closing down the forums again.

Someone over at HIH has had the ending spoiled for them. According to the individual, both 4chan and GameFAQs hold this spoiler... in the form of an image.

DEFCON 1

(Probably old, but right now, I'm slow at the internets.)

the one thing that bothered me about the ad was the abrupt turn from generic battle talk into halo universe stuff. its too obvious of a surprise . shotgun rounds , pistols, a handful of grenades... then all of a sudden... master chief , warthog ( *slap in the face hint* we are talking about halo). other than that , I am looking forward to more installments.

If I haven't seen it, it's new to me!

Thanks for the heads up. I generally try and stay away from gameFAQS and 4chan anyway. Reading either is bad for your health and could lead to brain cancer.

I'm actually afraid to log into xbox live now and play with strangers now that there are major spoilers out there. I know there are random punks out there that would just love to ruin the game for people.

OH SHIT.

That is spoilery, isn't it?

I haven't been playing with a mic, and I don't plan to:lol Put yourself in a Private Chat. It blocks out the in-game chat.

In an effort to be a spoiler martyr I went looking for said picture... I didnt find it. I dont think the average gamer has been exposed to it yet. XBL is still probably safe for now.

I think of that someone as a casualty of war, a person who sacrificed his happiness so that others could enjoy Halo 3 to the fullest.

I'm not bailing out completely -- see how well that worked for Ghaleon -- but I'm treading very, very carefully from now on.

yeah i went looking for it on both 4chan AND GameFAQs

either they're removing the ppl doing it, or people are on crack.

Well if you find something that you think is, Don't quote it! Geez.

Personally I don't consider this ad a true spoiler though.
And as Frank mentioned a few posts up, the ad agency does not know much about the story of Halo 3. I think what is in the PR is limited to the scope of the ad itself, much like the events in the Gears of War ad didn't actually happen in the game.

PR about ad said:
At over 1200 square feet, reaching a height over 12 feet above the ground and with each handcrafted human and Covenant figure standing eight to twelve inches high, the diorama was large enough to fill an entire studio.
1200 square feet! That is crazy. Who do you I have to kill to get that installed at my place?

and helping build to what promises to be the largest entertainment launch in history on Sept. 25, a series of dramatic and evocative communications elements, created by McCann San Francisco, T.A.G., AKQA, and Microsoft Global Marketing will offer a stirring look at the “Halo” universe and Master Chief.

Master Chief dies confirmed. Book It. Nobody can tell me otherwise. R.I.P. Master Chief, it's been real.

And the ad agency STILL doesn't know any plot details beyond what's out there already. This is all atmosphere, feeling, mood.

It is designed to involve you in the feelings of these Marines, and the human cost of the events in the game.

Music after all, needs no lyrics to elicit a visceral response from the soul.
/pretentious wanker
The ad is set many, many years after the events in the game. Chief could die in an elderly home filled with kittens for all we know.

can someone give me a list of the spoiler places?

i must visit these places.

I was looking for a while [don't care about spoilers - enjoy the story regardless], but gave up in frustration. I think it's actually easier to just wait until the game's release than to hunt them down.

Not confirmed. Frankie stated that the guys at McCann don't know the story details, just the mood. It's tone is one of remembrance, like recalling the guys you stormed the beach with in WW2 or something. You may not know where they are now, but you have the memory of what you accomplished.

Plus, everyone expects him to die at the end of this one. I'm saying nope, he doesn't. He ends up going to museums and spreading stories about his exploits in the war to random documentary filmmakers.

Oh, and he's eastern Euro.

BELIEVE.

EDIT: Beaten by the great Ghaleon.

was that PR piece from Microsoft or the ad agency?

The only folks who know anything are Australian crims and the folks who reviewed it.

Having just talked to a famous gaming site editor who completed the game AFTER seeing the ad campaign, he was surprised by the ending.

Otherwise, stay away from spoilers from leaks. The ad campaign isn't spoiling anything for you.

What kind of spoilers could there be? Master Chief dies? I mean what else would be shocking? The only spoiler-worthy thing from Halo 2 was that you play as the Arbiter and maybe the abrupt "ending." I mean it's an action game not an RPG.

Halo's story is more interesting than your typical clichéd RPG children trying to save the world from evil smog, or evil monster humanoid bullshit.

So the PR think posted earlier wasn't from Microsoft. That's a relief for me I guess. My personal bias to the idea that MC will die is polluting my mind.

the Halo 3 commercial should have been some old guy saying "Now in Nineteen-dickety-two. We had to say "dickety" because the Kaiser had stolen the wold "twenty". I chased that rascal to get it back, but gave up after dickety-six miles." then Believe in the end.

I would have bought 3 cat helmets if it was that awesome.

Again, as Frankie said, the people who wrote that commercial have no idea how the game actually plays out. So, if that's a spoiler, it's a coincidental one.

I agree that the old dude probably should have referred to MC as the Master Chief. Civilians can be forgiven for using his title as if it was his name. Heck, I do it myself. But I can't see how anyone in the military would talk that way. But who knows, that museum "interview" took place long after the battle for Earth was fought. Maybe (the) MC had become such a famous and iconic figure that in the future everyone refers to him in that way. (Just like Halo fans do today.)

I was in the middle of dicing them, actually. For some nachos. Mmm, nachos.

Seriously though, great ad. And to all those people that are arguing the whole "THE Master Chief" vs. "Master Chief" issue... Really? Really. Come on. = p

A Hero Must Rise. Believe.
The central element that much of the integrated marketing campaign centers on is a painstakingly accurate replication of a key moment from a climactic battle set in the "Halo" universe. At over 1200 square feet, reaching a height over 12 feet above the ground and with each handcrafted human and Covenant figure standing eight to twelve inches high, the diorama was large enough to fill an entire studio.

Filming the Experience

Shooting the campaign took several days as the individual soldier's stories were told, and as the camera spanned the landscape, finally resting on the mountain top where Master Chief appears to have been conquered by the Covenant enemy…or so it would seem. Viewers quickly realize that there is much more of the story that’s yet to be told – and the game will tell all.

The story of the diorama and the battle that day has been told through films that will be shown in 27 countries around the world on television, in cinema and on the web. But the Halo 3 experience is much larger than that, with future testimonial films depicting soldiers’ third-party accounts of their experience in the battles, and with the hero that is Master Chief.

As part of the integrated campaign, an innovative web experience has been created that enables consumers to interact with and explore every part of the climactic battle in minute detail. Beyond the TV, cinema and print efforts, the site is also supported by an online advertising campaign that starts the conversation with the consumer and a branded channel on YouTube that helps to position Master Chief as the biggest hero in history. All digital components were created by AKQA San Francisco.

Viewers get a sneak peek at "Diorama" on http://games.yahoo.com Friday Sept. 14 at 9 a.m. PST / 12 p.m. EST, as well as a feature on the making of the diorama, entitled, "Ammo". The "Diorama" work will make its TV debut during NFL Football on CBS Sunday Sept. 16. This, and the full series of web films, which honor the heroism of Master Chief, will also be available on Xbox LIVE Marketplace and http:www.halo3.com/believe starting September 14.

That's fucking awesome. I'm now laughing at all ya'll that critiqued the diorama spot without waiting to have the full reveal. That's a brilliant concept, and should drive a healthy amount of people to the site.

Frankie already explained why this isn't a big deal. Mainly, english is the guy who's speaking second language. Poeple speaking a second language often drop words such as "the" from a sentence.

Is there any connection between the package of the second live action film and the package that has to be protected in the last comic of the Halo Graphic Novel?

Don't quote me when you say that. I thought the whole thing was stupid from the beginning, just trying to clear it up for people so the argument dies for good.

Master Chief retires from the military and opens his own state-of-the-art nano-pharmaceutics business only to lose his entire savings after the business folds within two years' time due to the great economic recession of 2559 confirmed!

The old dude talks about when Master Chief arms his grenade...could he mean the shield grenade in the Starry Night ad? There were overturned warthogs in that! Sorry, just a dumb thought that I wanted to put out there.

I don't think that's a dumb thought at all. That could be a possibility, although I'm not sure the correct term is "shield grenade."

MP supports 4 player splitscreen. Campaign supports 2 player splitscreen.

Odd question, but I was wondering if you are the same ferrex that was in Halo's montage (not sure about the technical term but when you let the title screen sit too long and it goes into a video about the game's features). Anyways, there are a few different ones that play and in one of them while featuring the multiplayer, "You killed ferrex" appears when one of the players die. Just was wondring if that was you.
