well, the series is 1-1 thanks to the refs. apparently you can't stand straight up with your arms in the air against shaq or its a foul.

BURGLEFLICKLE!

p.s. i still dont understand why the pistons didn't foul on that last lakers shot at the end of regulation...

Boy, you really think you should become an ASS after needing an overtime to come out 1-1 at HOME? Cocky, arrogant, piece of shit. :) Just like your idol Kobe.

Cause foul = 3 free throws = same out come. As always what the Fackers can't do the refs do for them. Malone was damn near in the top row and the refs looks like he doesn't know what out of bounds means.

It wouldn't have meant three free throws if they fouled before the shot. And if they fouled Shaq, they'd have to give him 8 free throws to get three points now wouldn't they? :p

I agree. When Kobe loses the series, he'll be a scapegoat. And by the way Luke's playing, he'll be able to mass produce Starting Lineup figures within the next five years.

Sixers went back to Philly tied at 1-1. Larry Brown was a coach then too.

LOL, you Laker haters are all either retarded or crazy, I can't make up my mind as to which one it is.

why am i crazy to hate the lakers? there're from la...i'm in sf (no la love here) and grew up in the ny/nj area (not much love going on there for la either). are they talented, hell yeah. that's why i think the series is essentially over now, but that doesn't mean i have to like them.

I think for now on, fouling the other team with less than 5 seconds to go will be the norm.

Especially when the other team has no timeouts

This thread is HILARIOUS. You guys have accused Kobe of everything BUT using an aimbot...and I bet that's next.

How about calling a clutch shot a clutch shot and moving on?

maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnn, that game **** me off so badly. I hate the lakers so much and even though I'm not all that fond of the Pistions, I'd still like for them to kick the Lakers asses. Larry brown should have known better on that last play in the 4th and he should have fouled the lakers and sent them to the line. Lakers had no timeouts and Shaq had the ball for a second or two. Come on... mental mistakes like that cost you series!!!!

DAMN YOU KOBE YOU BASTARD!

I am not talking about just hating on the Lakers, that is the god given right of fans of lesser teams. I am talking about the crazy conspiracy theories and whining these bitches do after the Lakers win any game. Really, it is just pathetic. Some of these guys make Loki seem downright normal.

Yeah, and Phil Jackson coached Michael Jordan at one time, but you guys don't get to play him. Anything to make you feel better. Hope you're here in a week.

That game actually made me sick.Hopefully they will throw Kobe in the slammer so we dont have to see shit like that anymore :(

Nah, I'm not about rubbing things in people's faces.

Though tonight was too good to pass up.

Because your team needed a desperate last minute 3 to avoid going down 2-0 at home? Yeah, it was too good.

Poor Lakers. Imagine when they don't get to play at home. They can barely win in LA. Yikes.

at Kobe.

Screw you Laker haters.

Suck

down!

so how much trouble would the pistons get into if they showed kobe on the palace scoreboard with nirvana's 'rape me' blaring in the background?

Probably not much. Lakers should bring their mascot, Jack Nicholson with them though.

If they want to be childish, then yes, go for it. :)

They should bring Jack.

He has seen more championships than these soon to be forgotten Pistons have played playoff games.

Damn, I'm pissed...

Like some of the others here, I can't believe why Detroit didn't foul shaq on that last play in the 4th quarter. You'd send Shaq to the line for two shots with LA having no timeouts left. Even if Shaq somehow made both shots, LA would be playing catchup for the remaining 10-12 seconds.

This series is far from over, but I have a feeling Detroit is REALLY going to regret those final 12 seconds. Let's just hope the Pistons can play strong against the Lakers at home...

Damn!

I feel like I watched a Rockets vs Lakers playoff game :(

Detroit rapes the Lakers right in their ass and lose under suspicious circumstances in OT ON THE ROAD with 3 at home and their done? Right.

I honestly didn't expect the Pistons to come out of LA 2-0, but the series is still theirs. They stole one in LA, that is all that matters.

Man, what to say? Crazy game...

First off, for Bionic and his usual Kobe > Jordan specious nonsense: Go watch some tape, dude. Was Kobe better than Jordan all game when he was forcing shots (particularly memorable was the end of third quarter attempt where like 8 other Lakers players were open, but he just HAD to take it the whole length of the court and dribble around to try and abuse Prince, and ends up missing the deep 3; also sametype of sequence in the 4th, where he dribbled for what appeared to be a good 12-14 seconds before hoisting up a contested miss against Prince-- but anyway). Was he better than Jordan when he had all of 5 points in the 4th until his tying 3 and missed critical FT's down the stretch? Kobe was 10-23 before his tying 3-pointer and the 3 layups in OT-- at LEAST 4 of those 10 makes came when (for some INEXPLICABLE REASON) Larry Brown decided to put either Hamilton, or Billups, or even Lindsey Hunter on Kobe. So against Prince he went 6-19 early-- yeah, better than Jordan my ass. How many nominations for defensive player of the year did Tayshaun Prince get again? It was also amusing to see Bryant get absolutely BURNED by Hamilton on the wing in the first half on one play-- Kobe had a hand right in Hamilton's face on the isolation and wasn't even forcing him baseline (to preempt Kobe-jizzer excuses), he was playing him straight up in his defensive stance. Rip proceeds to blow right by Kobe's weak-ass defense to the rack for an easy layup. Kobe's response? Looked around for Shaq and his other teammated and started crying. News flash, Kobester: Welcome to LAS-- Life After Shaq. Get used to it. :P Billups similarly abused him a couple of times that same way, with Kobe always blaming his teammates and looking around as if he wasn't freaking named to the All-Defensive First Team (which was clearly a sham). Kobe had 33 (and needed OT to get 20% of those points)-- yay for him. Jordan has a 33+ ppg AVERAGE throughout like 200 playoff games. So yeah, Kobe > Jordan....rah rah rah. :P

The Lakers were incredibly fortunate to escape with this win today. Kobe's heroics were just that, and I'll never understand why you don't double Kobe off the ball on the inbounds and let another guy beat you-- yeah, they've proven that they can do so in the past, but when you're dealing with the most clutch player in the game since MJ, you take your chances with the scrubs 99 times out of 100 imo. His 3 was an incredible shot, and I give him credit-- Hamilton has to be the worst defender in history, though; not even in terms of his man-to-man skills, but his awareness. HOW DID HE NOT REALIZE that Kobe HAD to jack up a 3? Why give him that space? Why not attack the dribble, forcing him to either pick it up or raise up quickly and shoot it? He let him take his sweet ass time to get in rhythm with the dribble, and it cost his team the W. Very sad.

The other thing which amazed me was that the Pistons did not send Ben Wallace over to help on Kobe's repeated layup attempts in OT. I mean, he MADE THE SAME EXACT MOVE 3 TIMES IN A ROW. How freaking stupid are you? Top of the key pick-and-roll, hesitation, two overly-long steps (like Ginobli likes to do) and then the floaters/bankers. Jesus man, grab a clue. Once, ok. Twice, eh. THREE FUCKING TIMES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MOST CRUCIAL GAME FOR YOUR FRANCHISE IN THE LAST 14 YEARS? Unacceptable. Kobe was throwing up some weak shit there at the end, and it would've been ripe pickin's for Ben, but he never got the memo. On an semantically related note, apparently Memo never got the memo either, as he was SHITE all game. Butterfingers moron. :P Once Kobe made that second layup in OT, I knew it was over (I actually knew it was over when LA forced OT, because LA is all about the momentum-- if teams can keep them from gaining it, they win; when LA gains it, they win 95% of the time). Where'd all that shot-blocking we saw against Indiana go when Kobe was throwing up shots softer than the pale-green (and absolutely HIDEOUS) hue on Tom Tolbert's suit jacket (WTF was up with THAT!? How'd his mother let him outta the house like that? :P)? I just don't understand it...

Detroit gave this game away-- yeah, you can make a case that the foul on Shaq towards the end of regulation was a BS call, but in reality, it shouldn't have even came down to Kobe's shot if Detroit would've handled their business. But that last possession, where Detroit had 3 shots at it but couldn't put one down-- that's when you begin to feel like perhaps they have something lodged in their throat, ya know? :P I wouldn't be surprised to see Detroit fold after what must be a devastating loss, though they seem to have a bit more character than that. But we'll see...

Somebody should call the EPA (EDIT: yes, that's better :)) on Tom Tolbert's suit. I'm still cracking up over it. lol

EDIT: Yeah, like others have said, I too was perplexed (and furious) that they didn't foul Shaq on that last possession when Kobe hit the 3. I mean, it's not even like he hot-potatoed it-- he held it for a good 2-3 seconds. That mental lapse cost them the game.

Actually, it's not all that matters. Remember that the Finals are 2-3-2, and that since they switched to that format, NO home team has won the middle three games in a row. That means, barring history, Lakers come home for game 6-7 with Home Court Advantage. That's assuming they don't take 2 out of three or worse.

The Pistons had this game, they let it slip away by:

1. Allowing Shaq to get that O rebound and stick back. There was no foul on the play, but it matters little. Get a rebound, win the game. The Lakers gunned up the three down 6, and they get bailed out by the And One?

2. Rip playing shit defense on that last three attempt.

This was the Pistons game. They didn't win it. Smells like the Lakers series to me.

Just no. That is streatching it even for hyperbole.

I LOVE LA (WE LOVE IT!)
I LOVE LA (WE LOVE IT!)

i love the same old bullshit laker haters like FMT, saying the same old stuff every game. "WAH THE REFS! WAH LUCKY SHOTS! WAH WAH WAH!" i swear, you should just type up your responses before the game cause its obvious what you are gonna say every game.

Oh yeah, the Luke Walton stuff was absolutely RIDICULOUS, and that's the one thing I'll whine about. :P

I mean, come on-- the guy is buried on the bench for the better part of 2 weeks and then comes in and gives you 10 quick points when you sorely needed it (he was LA's leading scorer at one point, which should show you something) and a whopping 8 assists in the game, which is the most for a rookie in his Finals debut since Magic Johnson in 1980. Walton, Magic. Magic, Walton. What's wrong with this picture? ;)

You know, as much as I HATE your Jordan posturing (he's done, move on now), you know your ball. That was SHOCKING to me that Shaq got it down low that long and didn't get hacked. Yeah, he was hitting his FT's, yeah Shaq gets better with more reps. But you are up three, less than 10 sec in the game, and Shaq touches and ACTUALLY DRIBBLES THE BALL? Hack him, make him hit both, and MAKE THEM FOUL.

It was a big mistake, and that WILL cost them the series. Detroit won't keep home court past game 4.

Pistons should have fouled Shaq, Shaq wasn't fouled on the 3pt play, the refs ignored the clock at the end of regulation.

In the end, the NBA is not legit.

He's a Walton. Thats all that needs to be said.

and the more i see them, the more i realize the Pistons are A LOT like the Rockets when they have played us in the playoffs. They always play us tough, battle back, play tough D, and have guards (Cat and Francis) that shred our defense. Thankfully, i don't think either Rip or Chauncy is as dynamic a guard as Francis (or Tony Parker, Sam Cassell for that matter) in terms of scoring the ball, breaking down our D singlehandedly, and getting others involved.

Dude, I live and breathe ball-- it's been my life for 15 years now. :) Yes, I have my, err, "moments", but I have strong opinions on how the game should be played (and on just about everything else, too :P).

Oh yeah, one more thing:

JORDAN WILL LIVE FOREVER! VIVA LA 23! :D

Yeah, Billups has looked SUPER slow for some reason this series. His first step was quicker from what I remember. And I'll blow a gasket if Rip Hamilton thinks he's Kobe one more time by getting the ball at the 3-point line and FACING UP, and then trying to go one-on-one against either Kobe or George. I'm a better one-on-one offensive player than Rip Hamilton is (fact :P)-- that's not his game at ALL. Why they continue to let him go away from HIS GAME (screens, running his defender ragged etc.) is beyond me, and plays right into LA's hands, despite the fact that LA has done an EXCELLENT team defensive job on those Hamilton screens and curls (yes, the TEAM, not just Kobe). He needs to just keep doing what got them here-- LA keys into individual offensive players too well to be putting yourself at a disadvantage like that.

Hey, at least Slobbo didn't hit his first two shots today like he always does; the joy I derive from this minor victory is somewhat lessened by the fact that HE DIDN'T TAKE ANY SHOTS. <goes and cries> :P

Ok, 70 pages of reading to do. Later, clowns. :)

EDIT: Btw, Hamilton's like a new millenium Latrell Sprewell-- can't dribble for SHIT with his left hand, and LA has been keying into that these past two games, particularly tonight. Remember the play where he got the inbounds and went left to escape the trap in the backcourt while bringing it up? He's lucky he had that timeout, because he had already lost control of the ball and it was about to be gobbled up by Derek "The Reach-In Wonder" Fisher. :P If you'll note, all his screens and curls originate on the left side of the floor so he can catch and come back to his right hand on the drive or pull-up. He needs to work on his left hand a LOT.
