The reason we experience lust is because sex feels amazing. The only reason it feels amazing is to get us to keep doing it in order to reproduce and continue the human race. You could argue that reproducing is the meaning of our existence, so sex becomes part of the meaning of life.

Of course, in the 21st century you don't actually need to have sex to produce a baby as we live in a world where artificial insemination is possible.

What about the other ways to get off that also feel amazing, but don't result in impregnation?

I'm questioning the bolded part. It makes some sense, but it seems more like the drive to reproduce causes lust to me. Exhibit A = six million crusty socks before experiencing the sex.

There's a ton of birth control methods to allow people to have sex but prevent pregnancy, and millennials are generally waiting until they're older and more settled to have kids. So, no, lust isn't the primary driving factor.

Kids are a lot of responsibility and the decision to have one shouldn't be based on something as fleeting as lust.
