The Order 1886 Gameplay Footage

It looks like a corridor shooter.
Such a waste of setting and art.
I'd imagine there are more open areas than the ones shown. There's also been previews from a few months ago talking about slow paced exploration, horror elements, and solving crimes (I think), so I doubt shooting is what you'll be doing all the time.

i'd imagine narrow corridor ends up in jawdropping open scenario to boost the "OOOOOMPH" effect.

If you consistently have something, it becomes the norm. Also it seems like people expect every house to be in the main street of the city of something

The graphics looks fantastic. I'm not going to make a judgement on the gameplay but I did find that the camera during the gameplay section was terrible, even in that short clip it was making me nauseous. Hopefully that improves in the final version.

Just because you say no multiplayer and 30fps are bad doesn't mean you speak for everyone. You should know by now, if you've been following it, that there's absolutely no consensus on either of those topics. To label that 'bad news' is stretching it a bit.

Why does it feel like you have some vendetta here?

I think most would agree that a lack of multiplayer is not good news. And most people would prefer 60 fps. That is why people have been losing their shit about the lower fps on xbone games.

There's only one QTE there, I don't think that counts as a ton.

There's actually 2 QTE prompts during the footage, both from the same fight though.

Let's not kid ourselves here though. You really think they are gonna show QTE stuff in some of the first few seconds of actual gameplay we see from this game, and then aren't gonna make QTE's pretty common throughout the game?

Does gamersyde has an link?
Looks good graphically.

They have a link, to the youtube version from what I understand.

Really ? This game, running in real-time, is not impressive visually, ?

from the video, when you consider what its doing, its really not that impressive.

1-2 enemies on screen, limited corridor areas, lowered viewing range (black bars) no coop, how exactly is it impressive?

Witcher 3 with its open worldness looks more impressive

Game looks great, but too little has been shown to get a good feeling gameplay wise. The shooting part somehow didn't do it for me (yet). It looked like aiming was a hassle? It seemed quite imprecise/the smallest movement on the controller seems to make a drastic shift.

But like I said; it's impossible to judge it correctly from this short gameplay vid.

I didn't expect that to be a big deal. But I think this is the first time I've seen "heavy", non-clippy, cloth. Those dusters when he rolls, it's just crazy looking. Like it's prerendered.

Cloth is actually clipping with his feet. But that's just a small thing to nitpick about. Game looks superb.

The negativity here in GAF generally pisses me off...

...but this time I agree. HAHA.

I need more gameplay, options, customization.

I'll still buy it, no doubt, because it'll be a treat to play. However, I'm not crazy excited about this any more.

Me getting on gaf: Logging in do-de-do, going to watch The Order: 1886 video, wait what's this? Irrational Games is shutting down? Now The Order footage can't even make me happy.

Graphically, it's the most impressive gameplay bit I've ever seen.

But hey, it's GAF, every exclusive thread is another carnival of stupid. Business as usual.

I refuse the judge the game on a small selection of gameplay they chose to just give a taste of what the game will be like. There is still so much not shown, and still so early to think that the whole game will boil down to a "QTEfest". Aside from it clearly being a TPS there have been reports of physics and destruction, some exploration in combat down time and investigation, seeing as they held back on showing these aspects I'm still quite excited. Hell if the game only has solid shooting the atmosphere alone would still make me want to play.

Look I'm definitely a fan and I'll be buying this game, but this reveal kinda sucks. The same video cut up to play shitty epic music or have a bunch of dudes talk about things? I finally found the video with the original audio and that improved things a lot, but still what they showed was a bit... lackluster. I'm not talking about the graphics but rather the simple combat (with shitty ai) and then some minor cutscenes.

I guess we have to wait till E3 for the real stuff.

The graphics look amazing. Need to see more gameplay before I can make any judgements there. So tired of QTE.

Very true never look at it that way, the game looks alright, it's beautiful visually, Killzone was gorgeous visually but I just couldn't get into the game..I am having more fun with subpar graphic games lately but who knows once I get my hands on this game my mind can change drastically i just dont wanna be trick by a pretty game again.

Lack of details spells troubled project to me. Maybe Sony forced them to show something to light a fire under their asses? Or maybe they're all just being super secretive just because. But it doesn't make sense to show so little of a new IP unless there isn't much more to show.

They would have done well with a game clip that is 80% gameplay and 20% QTE/cutscenes. As it were, we got something like 90% QTE/cutscenes and 10% gameplay.

I'll keep my eye on it. It's pretty, but I prefer a game to have one (cutscenes) or the other (QTE). Not both, unless they're quite minimal in volume. These videos suggest they are anything but minimal occurrences.

Welcome to reductio ad absurdum...

I've seen like 1 or 2 people saying the graphics aren't nice. Litterally everyone else that's expressing dissapointment about this footage, are doing so because of completely different reasons.

Of course people would prefer 60fps but I don't see any of these things in your post as a problem.

I don't think you speak for "most".

I expect no less from you man keep it up ;)
After all your gushing over Ryse your reaching caricature status at this point.

I think they just wanted to showcase how seamless the cutscenes and the gameplay. Hopefully, some more varied gameplay footage will trickle in the next couple of months.

But why is that the big thing to showcase? Doesn't give me much faith in the gameplay to be honest.

I love the character designs. The flowing coats and those regal neck plate things are slick. Alleyways littered with chest high walls are looking really formulaic though, should've shown something else.

Meh, looks like another high budget game with all the edges filed off and given to a wannabe movie director. If the indie market wasn't rife with innovation right now, I'd be sad.

The style, graphics, and overall design are all amazing. The fact that it really does just look like a third person cover shooter is... not.

Then again, The Last of Us and Bioshock and plenty of other games do great things in established genres so it's probably not a big deal. I might just be jonesing for some next-gen experiments.

I was skeptical about the first reveal trailer being realtime but this is pretty much proof that the final game will look like this, or at least very close to it. Looks damn impressive. Didn't think we'd see a game that looks so much like a CG movie so early in this gen's cycle. Sure there's obvious framedrops in some places, lower res and a heavy dose of filters and film grain that makes it all look just a bit more cinematic and touched up than it maybe is but just looking at the lighting, the details, cloth and nice facial animations, it looks really good.

It seems they're "advancing" the cinematic approach a bit, or should I say implementing them from games like MGS and the Quantic Dream games, with interactive googles during a cutscene or influencing a QTE by choosing an option. I wonder if this will become a trend.

Gameplay wise, I expect there might be some shtick that they haven't shown, that special way of dealing with half-breeds, sounds like some sort of ghostbustery-cross-the-beams sort of thing, a special weapon etc. although I doubt it would be that much different from the obvious standard TPS gameplay.

Seeing this footage though gives me even more confidence that the realtime cutscenes we've seen from Quantum Break will look as good as they did. I'm excited about better tech in games so I'm kind of happy with what I've seen here.

Botched half-ass attempt multiplayer like in the Uncharted games and the latest Tomb Raider is bad news. I'm glad RAD is focusing on single player only.

People only lose their shit on Xbone FPS because there's another console version of the game running at double the framerate. We don't see many here complaining about Ryse's framerate, because there's nothing else to compare it to, and people seem to be quite happy with it.

Idunno. The way that the Creative Director was talking left me feeling like we'll see a lot of this. But we'll see. Hopefully not. We need to see a lot more than the 10 seconds of actual gameplay we got here, for sure.

Yes because Tomb Raider with the graphical fidelity (better than the Bone) and at 60fps trumps much less.

The Order looks amazing, do I want 60fps? Yes. Do I want 60fps with the graphics being worse than this? No.

I really think people underestimate graphics as an ability to lose yourself in a game. I couldn't even play Bioshock: Infinite on consoles, I booted it up on my PS3 and it looked like ass. On my PC (max settings, around 40fps and native 1080p) I was just astounded by the world, it added so, so much to the game (especially the start).

The game also doesn't need MP, they did say that they would rather focus on an amazing SP than compromise. I think this is a glory of working with WWS, they let you do what you want.

The graphics here are incredible and I would not change them for 60fps. If there is a sequel with MP then by all means do an Killzone and downgrade fidelity for 60fps but leave my SP alone dammit!

Combat looks bland as hell, even for a cover shooter. The actual shooting looks so weak.

The actual shooting? Literally one guy, one guy being shot in a section of gameplay that is 10 seconds long. We can judge the gameplay now from one guy being shot, Actually the guy being shot is probably irrelevant. If he was just moving into cover people would still be saying this.

"The actual moving into cover bit was so weak"

And in terms of if it being a TPS: I would really like to see this amazing revolutionary new gameplay that people kind of expected, but I imagine inventing new forms of gameplay is quite difficult to do. Maybe later on in the generation we will get something new and interesting.

It is a TPS though, and it is difficult to get around actually shooting things because that's kind of what you do in TPS.

I think the game looks amazing but what they showed today is not a good representation of the game. They didn't present it good. A good gameplay demo of 10 min would've been better. People have a right to be not be impressed with this.

I really wish RaD had put together a continuous gameplay video with more shooting. It would put these unfounded "QTE fest" comments to bed.
Yes, please.

I don't think the QTE bits will be put to bed though. Its a cinematic title with a branching form of QTEs - that's kind of setting the stage for a game that wrests control from the player often. That's just a guess right now though. Still too early to tell one way or the other.

looks fucking boring, just like uncharted

so fucking tired of these linear tps games, and QTEs too! oh goody.

I want a ps4 but when i get one it wont be for uncharted or this

Game looks great. People in here saying they tired of shooters and then pick up the most generic and bland version of shooters(FPS) the next day with CoD or BF lol. Not going to judge gameplay on a 2 min trailer.

Especially when you consider that the QTEs are the one aspect of gameplay they've gone into any detail on.

Awesome, man. Thanks for coming into a thread about a game you aren't interested in and letting us know you're not interested in it. AND, as a bonus, letting us know about another game that you aren't interested in.
