Combat can be so excellent in this game.
Haha, standing in the clear open, firing at poor AI, while your wingman doesn't do jack... what combat strategy is this?

I want you to watch that readletter review, specifically where they just describe the plot, and then tryto tell me that it's head and shoulders above hollywood films. God knows it wants to be, but it most certainly isn't, it doesn't leave a lot unsaid because of the nuance of writing and leaving things for interpretation. It does so because the writers weren't very good at their job. And it does it all with the most straight faced use of cliches i've seen in a game recently, seriously, absolutely no attempt whatsoever to subvert them. I'd actually say that it's David Cage bad, except with the hilariously bad acting.I just finished it too and I strongly disagree with this. Maybe you just haven't seen enough bad movies. I thought this story was head and shoulders above most genre Hollywood fare, reminded me a lot of some of Kim Newman's books. It left a lot unsaid which a lot of game stories seem afraid to do. So most of the cut scene story elements were slow and subdued rather than action packed. All the action was left for the game play, something I liked a lot. Too many games use cut scenes to show the exciting explosive moments rather than letting you participate in them. Which is amusing considering a lot of the criticisms levelled at this game.

Cage's games. With the only exception being Ellen and Dafoe in Beyond Two SoulsWhen you say "hilariously bad acting" do you mean from David Cage's games or The Order? Because The Order has generally great acting and pretty good dialogue, even if the plot doesn't compliment them as well.

Ohhhhhhh yea I would never recommend anyone have to sit through that plot. It's another one of those things that shows just how far behind film gaming is in terms of storytelling despite our best efforts to be movie like.Yeah, haven't played Beyong though. I'm hoping there's a PS4 remaster.

Unfortunately, everything they say about the game's story is true. The story and the way they tell it just doesn't work.
I think they should have Made Galahad and Igraine have an active, perhaps secret relationship and start the entire game with a scene where they do nothing except talking and stuff. Then, at least we would have some sort of motive behind Galax ad's acts. (like he wants to protect Igraine)
:drool
We seriously needs some kind of combat arena for this game.
Isn't there a trophy for shooting a grenade using blacksight ?

It's one of those things that seems inevitable, at the same time also feeling like something that would have happened already.
I'm at Chapter VI now I think? is that halfway through?
Should have started with Hard right away. earned a few trophies now but I didn't want to look at the trophy list so as to not spoil myself.
I can see why people may dislike the game but it is definitely pretty and I guess all the walking and talking was to allow gamers some time to appreciate it (but not sure if that worked in their favor, give us photo mode instead )
it reminds me alot of UC1 a rough game with alot of potential. definitely hoping for a sequel
Please don't kill the series @yosp
So I completed it and ended up like the plot. But one thing I don't understand ishow are vampires and werewolves the same thing? The UIC was sending vampires to America. Lucan and co are lycans. Are they in cahoots?
Pretty much this for me. I kept thinking as I was playing that it felt very much like UCI - rough and maybe a tad unrefined/basic in some areas, but still a very fun game and a solid framework to build on. A sequel could really be amazing.
I really enjoyed it. Wouldn't give it a 9 or anything but I'd be shocked if someone gave this game anything lower than say a 6...
That said, I know a few people complain about the encounters with non-humans. But how exactly are people hoping to tackle that? In other games, a newer enemy just becomes bullet sponge which get's boring... and if it's a question of bullet sponge or something different like the way Order handled it, I'll take Order...
Uhh no, the only real blunder was Heavy Rain. Fahrenheit has decent voice acting (great by 2005's standards) and Beyond's side characters with very few exceptions are good as well.Cage's games. With the only exception being Ellen and Dafoe in Beyond Two Souls

Man, by the end of that video I felt as angry as they did. What a piece of shit this game sounds like.
The reception this game has gotten is so strange. The hate is unfounded. I can understand it getting some stick for the cinematic approach up to a point, but the hate has reached crazy levels. Check out this comment from the "Previously Recorded" Review thread for The Order.
That person will never play this game, and if they do it will be with so much bias theres no way they'll enjoy it. Its crazy man, i enjoyed the shit out of this game. I dont think i've seen such a believable acted out story in a game ever, im still trying to get over how they created such a thick, potent atmosphere. The ark gun, termite gun and the shotty are some of the most fun weapons to shoot in a video game.. Its really worth experiencing imo.. idk, people get brainwashed and influenced so easily its unfortunate.
Or could it be people have made an informed decisions, either by playing it themselves or hearing enough about it since release, that they don't like the game and think that it failed at what it set out to do? Nah they're all brainwashed. Fucking lol man.
Dont play The Order. The Order is shit. listen to my voice, death to cinematic!

I love cinematic games, thought The Order was shit.
Just borrowed this game from my brother and I played it all the way through in one night. Oh, but a glorious night it was! I feel like the length of Gray's story was just right. In fact, if I was going to add to the run length of the game, I wouldn't have made his story longer. I would've just had more of the Knights' stories unlock as you complete the game. Seeing the same incidents from Izzy's perspective would be interesting, for example or the Marquis' perspective on the event would be interesting too. Seeing the whole period of time from Lakshmi's perspective would be SUPER cool too, a rebel campaign if you will.
Co-op would be great for a game like this too. Here's hoping that RAD get the chance to put out a sequel.

Even with all that, it's still above probably 90% of genre fare, which is what he specified. I also feel like most of genre movies released in the past 10 years or so have been absolutely insufferable, maligned with flaws far worse than anything I've seen from Order. Yes, the Order story crumbles under closer inspection, but experiencing it casually, it kept me entertained throughout, was never insultingly bad, and there was a nice tone and pace to everything. The only thing that jumped at me as potentially groan inducing is that it used "We're not so different, you and I" phrase - twice. Which is once more than what was in everyone's favorite Uncharted 2.I want you to watch that readletter review, specifically where they just describe the plot, and then tryto tell me that it's head and shoulders above hollywood films. I know you're joking/venting, but the criticisms haven't been against an approach to game design or any particular gameplay mechanic: it's been that the game's execution on a whole range of those things is flawed.
i.e., it handles its cinematics poorly for a game, it uses QTEs poorly, etc.
