The Phantom: anything new since E3?

Yeah, I don't think any of us actually expects to see this thing see the light of day. Even if it does, it's posed to fail spectacular. But laughing at such failures is what GAF's all about, no? Still, I must admit that aspects of the machine are intriguing, and it would be nice to have a fairly powerful PC in a console-like case, although basing what is essentially a console around PC hardware that seems to become outdated much quicker than its console counterparts probably wouldn't work out well.

Anyways, they were showing a fairly impressive looking final-looking version of the device at the 2004 E3. Has there been any word on the progress or death of the aptly-named Phantom since?

if it ever does see release, it'll be something to ebay in 10 years because there won't be very many of them

Phantom is less interesting than Project X was (became Nuon) or the Indremeda L600.

Phantom is a stock PC. who cares?

The hardware is already outdated and it is still no closer to a release date.

I don't even recall what kind of video card it's using, and I can't imagine them being able to squeeze a high-end modern one in a case that small without it instantly turning into molten liquid upon depressing the power button.

I think it was a 2500XP and GF5700 IIRC. Fine when the thing was first announced but not exactly spectactuar these days.
