They posted a couple pics of The Champion Pub a few days ago too (360 version I think), here they are!

Oh god, I hope so.
I don't think I'll jump in on any extra packs, though. Waiting to see if there's any cross-play b/w PS3 and PS4, staying the hell away from the One. PS4 version was confirmed, wasn't it? If not, it'd almost be a lock, especially with the whole indie speech.
Sounds like a console stalemate then. Hopefully they can have both PS3+Vita and PS4+Vita crossbuy. But until we know more, strictly iOS and PC.PS4 version of STTNG was supposed to be shown at E3, so I imagine we'll see a video of the new lighting/etc soon.
As far as we know, there's no retrospecting previous PSN purchases with PS4 specific improvements for PS4 owners, best guess is they'll have to rebuy the tables made with the new engine to get the improvements (I think they have to do a lot of work to upgrade a table), but I don't believe they said for sure.

Chris and I have been seeing a lot of really amazing games, both big and small at E3 2013. Of course one game I had to check out was The Pinball Arcade for PS4, and it was playable in the Sony booth. One thing is for sure, it’s the same game just prettier.
While playing I noticed a few tiny improvements which I was able to get confirmation from the Sony attendant fielding my questions and watching my gameplay like a hawk. I was playing the Star Trek TNG table which I was told was fully finished just in the nick of time for E3. The DualShock 4 is so tight with improved shoulder buttons, it was easy to notice that there was literally no controller lag which is something the PS3 version suffers from with my TV in Game mode (zero lag gaming setting).
Also confirmed was the anti-aliasing and overall smoother gameplay. No more jaggies or funky lines to look at while the camera followed the ball to the upper playing field. Framerate was a buttery 60 fps and the table play benefited from all of this. I could no longer blame draining the ball on a skipped frame. Now it was happening because I wasn’t used to the ball moving around so quickly.
Lastly, I asked the Sony attendant what the plan was for Cross-Buy, whether the PS4 version would be a separate purchase or gifted to anyone that owns the PS3/Vita versions. He confirmed that on Sony’s consoles it will adhere to the same Cross-Buy rules that the base game and all the table packs have. So if you’re planning on buying a PS4 on launch, here is another game you’ll already own on day 1.
Some great info is coming out about the PlayStation 4 build of The Pinball Arcade.
For one, it has been confirmed that you need to make only ONE purchase of the game and any tables to own a copy of them for the Vita, PS3 and PS4! Not only that, the lighting (still a work in progress) the frame rate and input lag is said to be fully addressed for the next gen release that could be out on the PS4's launch day. I can't wait (especially since it will likely also have 3D like the future PS3 version).
BTW, who here has gotten a PS4 on reserve after the awesome conference they had? The latest stories say that sales will be crazy, so if you haven't already done so for next-gen TPA on your HDTV, you might want to do it soon.
Here's the E3 report:
Not yet, but after this post I'm that much closer to doing it! Only thing I need to work out is whether I get it shipped from Amazon to Australia for ~$430AUD and forfeit warranty, or pay the full RRP here of $550.Some great info is coming out about the PlayStation 4 build of The Pinball Arcade.

Exactly the same here, I think. I love that I can even not play a table for a while, come back to it and learning a new way of advancing my skills. It's just great.Hour-wise, this may end up my most played game this year

Why go to a local arcade to play the great pinball games of the 90s and 00s when you can play a digital simulation like the Star Trek: The Next Generation pinball game, above instead? This games been available for several platforms for over a year, but I saw this version playing on the graphically superpowered PlayStation 4. And I gotta say, this looks so real in person, I did a double take when I first passed by.
Yeah, I think I need confirmation on PS4 cross-play, as well as a statement comparing it directly to the responsiveness of the 360 one. I heard people say the PS3 one was almost completely lag-free, but maybe I'm just hypersensitive to it or something... so I'm hoping the PS4 one, which should be as good as if not better, actually is.Yeah, nice surprise if that's true, there was definitely a lot of speculation going on that one shouldn't expect it, but I guess perhaps better to prepare for bad news and hear good news than the opposite.
An off-screen video of the PS4 version of STTNG was also posted at PAF, can't see too much, but they still have more tweaking to do (and hopefully it'll look even better with direct footage). The impressions are very possible though (along with joeblow's quote above):

Can't wait to finally be able to play this myself on something besides the iPad.
I really need confirmation on cross buy one way or another. My resolve is really starting to wear down... and like... people in this thread know how long I've been sitting on my hands.
That... looks pretty awesome. How does it work though? I can't see it sitting on anything... does it have legs? Is it just flat on the ground? So, for the past few days I've been getting this ridiculous idea in my head to buy a pinball machine. Not just any pinball machine, something old, inexpensive, possibly even broken so I can fiddle around with it to get it working again. I figure, being in the Chicago suburbs used pinball machines have to be in an abundance around here. I just did a cursory check of craigslist and saw this for $200.
Mother of God. How awesome would that be?

Edit: Holy shit, fucking buy it. That's the coolest thing I've ever seen. Good novelty value, too. If I saw one, I'd probably get it just for the hell of it, regardless of if it's actually any good or not.
It's the sort of thing that Stern or some other company should make as a home table. If you saw that "home" edition of Transformers... bugger that, make something like this, don't skimp on the quality, charge $500 for it and sell fucking heaps.
The Pinball Arcade and next gen consoles... so far it has only been announced and shown on the PS4. It seems strange considering that the game was developed on the X360 this generation. Perhaps it has something to do with the recently reported polices for indie games on both super HD machines:
- Microsoft's XBox One policy for indie games require a publisher to be released and require $10K to $20K for each extra patch fees.
- Sony's PlayStation 4 policy for indie games do not require a publisher to be released and will not charge any patch fees.
Some indie developers say they are going PS4 only because of this disparity. I know Farsight are looking for a partner for the X360 version, but the patch prices could still be an issue. Is it possible that Farsight will skip the XBone altogether?
I'm honestly not that jazzed about "indie" one way or the other, but that they've gone out of their way to say devs can self-publish goes a long way as far as me buying the system for titles like Pinball Arcade and whatever dudes like Jeff Minter (and by kind of extension, Shawn McGrath who did Dyad) push out. Like a better-realised equivalent of being able to run Linux... and the Xbox Indie whatever (I can't remember what it's called BECAUSE IT'S NOT FUCKING AVAILABLE IN AUSTRALIA, MS YOU CUNTS).it's possible that the Xbox 360 publishing rights that are tied up in the courts still, also cover next gen Microsoft consoles too. so they might be waiting to sort out the publisher situation on 360 before announcing anything.
but yeah, I mean, indies are aligning pretty clearly with the PS4, and Farsight are indie. Indie support is one of the key factors for me in choosing PS4.
(and this post in the same thread on PAF):smbhax said:From Facebook, in response to someone asking if it was true that someone who owned the PS3/Vita version would get the PS4 version for free:
The Pinball Arcade That is not true, the PS4 version is going to be considered a new game.
And further clarification:
The Pinball Arcade We feel that the game will be updated to match the new PS4 very well. Reactions from our demo at E3 were very positive, and we're working to make it even better. Our programmers and artists have been working very hard on it. Rest assured it will definitely look "next gen". One common misunderstanding that we'd like to clear up is just how much power it takes to run the emulation that makes our game possible. With the additional horsepower of the PS4 we're able to run the emulation using a far lower percentage of total resources of the machine, leaving plenty of resources free for graphical enhancements.
Although I'm poor as heck, I can live with this. I want the game to be rebuilt and look really next-gen, not just like a smoothed PS3 version with fancy lights floating over it--I was getting worried that was all it was going to be. Now that I know they're considering it an entirely separate game I'm much more confident it will really be taking advantage of the new hardware. Since this game is the primary reason I'd even consider plunking down the money for a new console, I'd much rather pay a little more for a game actually built for it than for a spit-shined port of a game I already have. And it sounds like the PS4 version will be getting some real, dedicated attention, whereas the PS3 version (and most of the current TPA versions, from what I've seen of what others say on this board) has always felt a bit like a red-headed stepchild--and I can admit that because I still love it. : P
PiN WiZ said:FarSight confirmed today on Facebook that the PS4 version of The Pinball Arcade will be considered a new "next gen" game with "next gen" graphics which means we'll all have to purchase the new version and tables again which is fine by me.
FarSight is putting alot of work into enhancing The Pinball Arcade to take advantage of the new hardware and they need to get paid for the work they're putting into it. If they gave it away for free, there would be no reason for them to even put any extra work into the tables that they have already released. So, you might want to ask yourself..."Do I want to play a "next gen" version of The Pinball Arcade which will bring the experience even closer to real world pinball, or do I want to play a straight port of the current version of The Pinball Arcade which will look the same as it does on my PS3?"
As far as the E3 Demo of Star Trek : The Next Generation goes, that is just a peek at how the tables on The Pinball Arcade will look and play once the final product is released on the PS4 which is still months away.
Not at launch, however dynamic lighting will make its way to the PC version.
They're talking about the version on PS4 being "version 2", which I think is kinda like a generational overhaul of the software, I guess like moving up from Windows Vista to Windows 7. Not sure whether some platforms get left behind or not. I don't think the 360 does, but have no idea on the rest. Obviously the PC is safe.Actually kind of glad that they're thinking of the PS4 as a straight refresh, and I agree with the sentiment in the copied post about preferring a full effort to a quick port job with just a little gloss. Now of course that feeling all depends on the PS4 version actually being a full-fledged effort. So far it's looking pretty good. One crazy thing to consider though is PLEASE revamp the UI and pretty much everything outside of the gameplay.

I just found this on PAF, I think it's important because I think the article you linked to, they're talking about how the PS4 will cross-buy with Vita just like the PS3 would cross-buy with it... but it won't do it across all three:
From PAF
(and this post in the same thread on PAF):
Apologies for all the quote nesting, just want you get across that I'm not actually saying any of this stuff, it's all pretty much official.
And some other quotes, from their FB page:
(Will the PC version look as good as the PS4 E3 tech demo?)
A photo from E3:
I have to say, I'm absolutely over the fucking moon that Sony actually invited FS to E3 and gave them room to demo the game. It's garnered some good press from people who I assume would never have even known about the game... so kudos to both parties for impressing the hell out of me on both fronts.
I more meant "version 2" as an entirely new software platform. What upgrades that entails I think would be unique to each hardware platform, but I'd say at a minimum there's things like core engine improvements, physics and obviously the menu navigation and general aesthetic... that sort of thing (as an educated guess). So each hardware platform has it's own strengths and weaknesses, but the ones they can upgrade, they will (depending on how flexible X platform is on patching/updating). I believe there was talk of the first/next 360 release to be using this base, but they weren't sure on the PS3 getting it because of how PSN handles updates (I believe).Well they said the mobiles are the most profitable platform of all the platforms more or less, and the mobiles have the weakest hardware (for now) of all the platforms, so there's no reason to leave anything behind since their most profitable platform is also the weakest, unless they plan to abandon iOS/android lol.
Perhaps you're talking strictly graphics though? If so, the platforms were never really on equal footing, as the handheld/mobile/mac platforms were quite a bit behind the PS3/360 to begin with, now this PS4 version brings it up to a whole new level, which neither the PC or Wii U will have at first (if ever). It sounds like the dynamic lighting will eventually show up on PC, but that could be well in to 2014 for all we know, and whether or not other PS4 features beyond that show up, we'll see too!
Edit: Maybe you mean certain platforms will just never get the newer PS4-level (version 2) graphics, and be stuck with their original style that they've always had? That seems likely. As I said above, I don't think anything will get upgraded to PS4 level for certain, except maybe PC down the road.
I agree with the complaints above on nudging on iOS too. I just want swipe to nudge to work. They finally made it stop blue screening, but it still doesn't work right. Only ~1/3 of the times it will recognize the swipe, and it's very erratic, so it's pretty useless to me still.
No problemo. Sadly it means I have to wait as well, but it's all for the best. Such a shame we still have no definitive version, with the 360 being the closest (but never updated), PS3 experiencing flipper lag compared to the 360 one, the PC one nowhere to be found and the handheld devices obviously severely hardware limited.great work Shaneus. Then I continue to wait. Another five more months. Just another five. It's only been like... almost a year since my indefinite wait began. Since Creature came out on PS3.
I don't think it's just your luck, remember ST:TNG is a cunt of a table Glad to hear there's no lag detected... have you played both the PS3 and 360 versions? Would you say it's as responsive as the latter?I played TNG at E3. No lag detected on the flippers, although the ball tended to go perfectly down the middle a lot (but that might also be my luck).

It did look a bit aliased. About the same as DriveClub.
